Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Nail Art Tutorial

I figure if I can make an attempt at nail art, anyone can! Sally Hansens I Heart Nail Art Stylo Pens have me wanting to collect every single shade! As a child, I fancied myself a bit of an artist and I was obsessed with collecting gel pens, colored pencils, etc…I recently rediscovered that addiction because of these Nail Art Pens!

Available at five bucks each and in 15 shades, these pens will totally appeal to your creative good nature. I was determined to create a really simple Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Nail look with my I Heart Nail Art Pen.

Here’s how I did it!

Or should I say how I accomplished it?! Makes me sound like I’m some sort of pro nail artist right?

To get the look you really only need a few items. Since these stylo pens are so easy to use anyone can create a design in seconds.

First, prep your nail before using the color polish by applying a base coat, such as Sally Hansens Double Duty 2-in-1 Base and Top coat. I then used Sally Hansen Triple Shine in Lemon Shark as a base for my design. This is a super glossy opaque bright yellow. I used two coats on my nails but a single coat would work since it is quite pigmented and I love how glossy this looks on my nails. After they dried I was ready to get to work on my polka dots. Shake your pen before using it!

Now you’ll want to dab it on the back of a piece of paper to get the polish following. Keep that paper handy because I like to dab the pen on it every so often to remove excess polish as I work. Now just dot! I got a little crazy dotting all over the place. It’s so easy a child can do it!

After the polish sets be sure to seal it with a top coat. I recommend Double Duty 2-in-1 Base and Top Coat, or Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, which will dry any polish in 30 seconds!

Truly I’m not a nail artist but this is a super simple way to dress up your nails for Summer!

I’ve been tempted by these tho I too am terrible at any nail art. Bit my five year old oddly has a better ability than I do after trying her cousin’s. I showed your nail pics to my girl and she loved them calling them “totally gorgeous!” And she added we “must” buy what you used so we can “rock her awesome nails” too. So ms muse you have a new fan and I am off to the store to buy exactly what you used and likely several more pens. Thx again for a great fun post!

OMG So flattered Kimberly thanks girl 😀 I think it’ll be a fun project for you both! The pens are so easy to use! After using the pens I ended up going to target and buying more and I’m not even a nail girl 😀

these look so adorable! a good tip for any kind of dot design is to make diagonal lines of dots on your nails so there’s even space between each dot. they’ll look super perfect!
