Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water Review

Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water

Maybelline Crean Express Miracle Water is exclusive to Japan but we do have a fair few of the Clean Express products here in the US in a similar formulation. A few years ago we had a rather big Cleansing Water crazy going on here in the US with major players like NARS and MAC creating their own varations of cleansing water but the trend died out rather quickly.

Cleansing water is definitely the lazy girl or guy’s guide to quickie makeup removal on the go. For a long time I was a mega fan of Mandom’s formula especially when I got home late and just didn’t want to sit down and do my massive nightly skincare regime. Cleansing waters are just so great for quickie makeup removal so you can get to bed super fast. Or even you’re one for double cleansing they are great for removing a majority of makeup and you can of course, follow up with another cleanser to remove the rest of the gunk and makeup they may have missed because lord knows most formulas don’t always get every single last bit of makeup from your face!

A few years ago Maybelline unleashed their Cleansing Express products on the world and one of the items in that release was the Maybelline Clean Express The Flash Clean Makeup Removing Lotion. It isn’t quite the same as this Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water but if you’re interested in trying it out, it is more readily available at drugstores versus waiting for airmail, online shopping, etc…

Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water is a more traditional liquid cleansing water versus the formula we have here in the US from Maybelline which has a bit of a thicker consistency. This is a great for quickly removing makeup in a hurry and leaving skin nicely hydrated after use.

The nice part about this formula and cleansing water in general is the fact you can saturated a cotton pad, swipe across your face, and no need to follow up by rinsing. It’s a super quick, easy way to remove your makeup when you just wanna head to bed. Apparently this formula has makeup absorbing micelles that act to attract dirt and makeup.

Unfortunately like many Asian cleansing waters I’ve run across this is super hard on eyes! It does defeat the purpose of quickie makeup removal if you can’t use it on your eyes as that’s where I wear the most makeup. I tried using it on my eyes but it stings horribly! If you wear lighter makeup sans any eye makeup it should be a nifty product to have handy to get off makeup in a hurry but if you wear heavier eye makeup you likely won’t find use for it.

I like Cleansing Waters a lot but the stinging sensation that comes along with Maybelline Clean Express Miracle Water makes this formula a skip!

If you do wear minimal makeup and want to try the formula I got mine from sasa.com.

I purchased this item.

I really love the Koh Gen Do cleansing water, but I hate the price. I’ve only tried it and Sephora’s cleansing water. The Koh Cleans so well and even takes off my mascara. It leaves no soapy feeling or perfumey residue behind. The Sephora burns my eyes but not the Koh water.
Have you ( or any readers that want to answer) come across one as good as the Koh Gen Do one?

I really want to find a cheaper equivalent, because I love how I can just quickly use my wet microfiber cloth after for a quick cleanse, or like you say when it is a quick to bed night and just the cleansing water. It truly feels like water, but cleanses.

Thanks for the review. I’m going to now search through your past reviews of other cleansing waters. In the past I never gave any thought to cleansing waters because I thought they sounded ineffective, until I got the Koh during the last F&F sale at sephora.

    Thanks Muse 🙂

I haven’t tried the étude one.. Of course insee this AFTER I ordered another yesterday.
I ordered the Bioderma one ( and another Bioderma water that is supposedly hydrating) from England. Shipping wasn’t bad at all.

I kept seeing Bioderma mentioned a couple times here by your commenters, and read really good things elsewhere.

Do you get the étude one at sasa?
