Maybelline Great Lash Doll Mania Mascara 3

Maybelline Great Lash Doll Mania Mascara is a new addition to the Great Lash Mascara family that brings together a curved brush and a formula to give you fluttery, doll-like lashes.

I’ll be honest and say that Maybelline Great Lash Mascara anything has never proved a good experience for me! Great Lash has such a huge, massive cult following but I’ve never understood the hype in the least. It’s actually one of the very few mascaras that smears and smudges all over my eyes and also does not in the way of drama.

But with the new crazy of “manga style” lashes hitting the beauty air waves lately you can imagine I was intrigued to try out Maybelline Great Lash Doll Mania and with such a close release behind the L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara one wonders how the two compare!

Maybelline Great Lash Doll Mania Mascara has a new curved brush and promises to lift and curl lashes into a doll-like finish. I didn’t really see much of a different in this formula compared to the Great Lash one. Both are lightweight, both give me slightly crunchy lashes, and both smear and smudge on me terribly. Of course, the applicator is a bit different as this is curved.

I wouldn’t call the results dramatic with this. I prefer lots of length and volume. This gives me some length (not nearly as much as I’d like) no real volume and a fair bit of curl. I noticed that the applicator does somehow work in a way where it extends outer lashes upwards and leaves the ones towards the inner corner of the eye shorter. So in a way it does kinda produce that cutesy doll look!

Lucky enough it applies well without clumps or creating a spidery mess but I do find as the day progresses I end up with raccoon eyes. I have drier eyes and it’s so rare that mascara smears or smudges on me be it waterproof or not but Great Lash has always been a pain about smearing on me and the Doll Mania formula is no better. I sometimes think you need a certain time of lashes for the Great Lash formula to work and obviously my lashes aren’t the type to love it.

I will say that L’Oreal’s Miss Manga creates a vastly different look so in a way Great Lash Doll Mania actually produces more of a doll look with the longer curled up lashes towards the outer eye area versus Miss Manga which produces a more spidery look for manga or anime looking eyes!

I am not a great lash fan, it just never worked for me. My mom on the other hand loves it and gets great results.

Maybe you should apply more, as it looks like you’re barely wearing anything.

that’s three layers LC, so as you can see it isn’t terribly dramatic even built

I actually really loved miss manga, and I suppose I will try this, even though great lash has never worked for me either.

Doll lashes are something I want and I actually find with miss manga I don’t have to wear falsies (except for nights out).

I’ve never understood the hype with great lash either, glad to see I’m not the only one it fails on!

I totally agree, this mascara didn’t cut it for me. I also don’t understand the Great Lash hype- it gives me raccoon eyes and just so-so drama yet its featured in beauty magazines constantly! This Doll Mania version refused to give much length or volume despite building many coats. I threw it out.

I have the same issue, raccoon eyes all around with any great lash formula and this was far from dramatic 🙁

I feel like the odd girl out here when I say I love Great Lash. I guess it all just depends on what type of look you’re going for. I prefer a more natural, innocent look, and I can totally see someone wanting insane volume/length hating it. XD There’s something about the brush I just really love too. Formula could be better but the waterproof one is FANTASTIC at holding curl albeit a bit crunchy.
