About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Muse, Can you or any readers out there comment on the quality of Sephora eyeshadow, and these mega palettes in particular? I’ve never tried their e/s, but thought this might make a good gift for a younger fam member. Thanks!

I’ll pass. I have TWO Blockbusters, thanks to your good wishes, Muse! Remember I was bemoaning how they sold out before I could make it, every year since 2010? I finally got one last December. And then, Sephora Dubai gave another one out as part of their card programme, for 400 points so now I have two and love them both!

haha renu! yeah! they used to sell out FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good for you! enjoy ’em 😀

Smashbox is offering a limited edition palette for the same price. I love Sephora products, but put up against a higher-end brand, if I was going to spend the money, I’d probably gravitate towards Smashbox.

Thank you! That was most helpful. I guess I could have researched that myself, duh.

no problem! I don’t about this one but I find that many of the mega palettes at Sephora are of the same quality!

OBVI, I need to start seeing the holiday collections because it’s AUGUST! LMAO XD It gets earlier and earlier. I admit it’s hard to resist all the Halloween stuff I’ve been seeing in the stores 😉

I know right? it comes earlier and earlier I dunno if I love or hate that!

Hey there! I just got the email informing me about this palette and now I’m torn. I’m trying to put together a freelancing makeup kit, and was planning on purchasing the smashbox master class 3 palette. I’ve heard great things about it, and since smashbox is a higher-end makeup line than sephora my heart says go with the smashbox (same price) but those eyeliners are calling my name! Lol. I’ve never tried eyeshadow or eyeliner from the sephora line so idk which one to get! what would you do? thank you!!! 🙂

Will this compare to the smashbox masterclass 3 palette since they’re the same price? Leaving towards sb atm

I bought the SB Master II, and Sephora’s Color Anthology. The SB has way more versatility as it has full face products, but the eyeshadows are disappointing, they lacked the color payoff I was looking for, I do love the blushes though. My color anthology is amazing! such a color range and the pigment was on point! I’m not sure about these versions, but I am leaning toward Sephora, but when in doubt, wait for in-store release and swatch.

I actually ordered this Friday night, they had it available to Rouge customers for a limited time. They did the same thing last year with the Christmas Blockbuster and I kicked myself for not grabbing it and then having to fight mall crowds to find one. I should have my hands on it by weeks end and will let you know if it is worth the price. I have noticed a huge improvement with the quality of Sephora’s eyeshadows, they have really improved the texture and pigmentation.

On a side note, I read the comments about the new Smashbox Master Class III, I picked this up a few weeks ago and it blew me away! They really redeemed themselves after the poor presentation of Master Class II. MCII was horrible as far as the quality of how the make-up was presented, the cardboard palette was warped and will not stay completely closed. I have mine stuck in a drawer with large rubber bands around the thing. The make-up inside is great but the presentation was not up to standard. I was ready to give up on their future palettes until I saw the new one. All I can say is WOW!
