Sephora Metamorphosis Exfoliating Powder

Sephora Metamorphosis Exfoliating Powder is my new favorite, you NEED this, Muse Approved, exfoliating product of 2014. I love this stuff. I have dry skin so I can’t exfoliate often and I’ve run across a product or two that does a great job scrubbing awake flakier areas on my face to reveal smoother, softer skin. But many times these products also strip my skin and leave it drier than when I initially used them!

Needless to say exfoliating helps to remove drier skin cells but also comes with its own set of problems.

I recently discovered Sephora Metamorphosis Exfoliating Powder and I must stock up because if this gets discontinued I’ll simply sob my little eyes out!

Sephora Metamorphosis Exfoliating Powder combines gentle chemical peel-like action and a micro cellulose powder. I know it contains salicylic acid which scared the heart out of my chest as I get terribly dry whenever salicylic is involved but thankfully I had no issues with the ingredient. Unfortunately the rest of the ingredients are in French so I’m unsure what it in it exactly but I do know it’s free of parabens.

Sephora suggestions mixing it with your cleanser or using it on its own should you like and they claim it’s great for all skin types including sensitive ones.

This is basically a very refined, silky powder. I simply wet my hands, shake a small amount out of the plastic bottle (it has a sifter on the top so you can shake it easily out), and I smooth it over my face in a gentle massage. It has as a gritty texture with light lathering action. The fine gritty particles do an excellent job of refining my skin, buffing away flaky areas, and creating a smoother, softer finish on my drier skin. Truly it does a really great job of softening skin and just creating a smoother, even surface. I was quite amazed how my skin looked after use as my normal duller skin wasn’t lackluster and I had a nice glow. I loved it didn’t strip my skin either so I didn’t feel tight or dry after use! And my moisturizer absorbed far easier as well and in the AM my makeup applied smoother and looked perfect thanks to the fact it was adhering to drier areas around my face.

To say I was impressed is an understatement! I really loved how this made my skin look. I’ve been using it a month, once a week, and my skin looks so much more radiant!

If you’re looking for an excellent and easy to use exfoliator that provides visible results you’ll want to check out Sephora Metamorphosis Exfoliating Powder! It’s an excellent way to easily buff away dry skin and it really does add a glow to duller, drier skin!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Oooooo!! I love Dermalogica’s powder exfoliatior so I think I’ll have to give this one a whirl!!

  • Olivia

Need this! I like Dermalogica’s Microfoliant, but this seems so nice.

  • Rae // theNotice

Ooh, this sounds wonderful! I love Tatcha’s exfoliating powders, but they’re so expensive — I’ll have to check the ingredients for this one when I run out!

  • Arielaaaa

I’m officially enabled into getting this! I’ve been waiting for a good review to describe the texture, because i want both Physical and Chemical exfoliants! Can’t wait to order it!

  • Jenn

You should try goldfaden md’s doctors scrub. It’s pricey, but it’s my favorite exfoliant!

  • Mandy

How similar is this to the Boscia Exfoliating Powder? Besides the tsubaki oil?? I love the Boscia, but would love an alternative!!

  • Robin

Will check this out. Sounds like a dupe for Amore Pacific s enzyme peel.

Oooooooo……. I have the apparently discontinued Josie Maran powder and I like it a lot! Will have to get this and try it out! There was a powder scrub I used to use a thousand years ago when I was in my early teens, but they seemed to fall out of fashion for a long time and now it appears they are back!

  • AmberM

Well, poop. I didn’t have anything I wanted for the double points over the weekend and now I’m intrigued by this. Oh well. I still think I will try when the weather gets colder. Thanks for the review!!

I saw this on the new items list and was thinking of getting it, I tried another exfoliating powder a long time ago from dermalogica, and I really liked that too. Definitely gonna order this.

Ps: when are you going to post about the new hourglass foundation?? I need to talk to someone about it lol!

    • Isabella Muse

I never tried the derm one but I heard good things about it 😀 which new hourglass foundation, you don’t mean the repackaged skin tint do you?

      • Cj

Repackaged??? Noooooooo :'( I thought it was something new *cries* what is it the illusion tinted moisturizers?

          • Cj

*cries* thanks for ruining it for me! No I’m glad you told me lmao it was in my shopping cart ready to buy tonight

          • Isabella Muse

haha sorry!!!!!!! I got a pitch from hourglass that told me it was simply newly packaged :-/

  • Katie

Wow, this sounds amazing. I have combo-dry skin and maybe this could help me? I can’t seem to find a solution to my flaky looking skin once foundation is applied. :/
It also seems like this will last a longgg time, which is a huge plus!

  • Clémence

    Hi !

I didn’t find a list of ingredients for this product – Sephora’s french website is silencious – but if you need help (even if it’s a little pretentious), I’m french, so maybe I can translate 🙂

Sorry for my mistakes (I’m a cliché), and thanks for your blog, it’s very helpful !

    • Isabella Muse

oh thank you clemence I’ll take a pic of the bottle and repost maybe you can translate for us 😀 You’re wonderful for offering 😀 I know some French but lord knows it’s rudimentary high school French so you imagine I butcher up your beautiful language! I was in Paris last year and I’m pretty sure ever waiter cringed when I placed my order haha!

      • Clémence

I read some french blogs and apparently, we can find some pomegranate extract in the powder but I’m really not sure (maybe I’ll go to Sephora and take a look in the next few days).

Ahah, I can imagine for your french, it’s the same here with english, even if we reassure ourselves by saying that the french accent is sexy (bad faith, totally :D)

Have you try the Kiko’s products last year ? I heard that some shops are opening in the US, and I can only recommend them to you. It’s like Sephora but they only sell their own brand and the products are really great, maybe you can love them !

        • Isabella Muse

sorry for the delayed reply Miss Clemence 🙂 I tried looking at the back of the bottle but they don’t list anything!??!?! GRRR! So frustrating! but it is sexy…French accents are just so very pleasant and less harsh than others 😀 I have tried Kiko but it’s so hard to get here blah! I’d love a US store! OMG I’d be in heaven! 🙂

  • Lisa

Yes I absolutely love it! I mix it in with my cleanser and my skin is not irritated and is so smooth. I thought it was pricey when I bought it ($20) but when I see how little you need it’s not too terrible for such a wonderful product!

  • Jo

I didn’t realise this had already been discontinued! I still have mine sealed and am actually selling it but no one in the UK knows what it is lol so it may never find a new home 🙁
