Wet n Wild Smoke and Melrose ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild ColorIcon Eyeshadow Smoke and Melrose

The Wet n Wild Smoke and Melrose ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette is one of four, limited edition 5 Pan Coloricon Eyeshadow Palettes that launched with a new Wet n Wild All Access Beauty Fall 2014 Collection.

I must have I’m not a massive fan of the original 5 Pan Coloricon Eyeshadow Palettes so I had my reservations when purchasing the new ones.

Let’s see if this one holds up!

The Wet n Wild Smoke and Melrose ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette comes housed in a simple black plastic case and features five shades of eyeshadow. The shades all have an embossment giving you an idea for placement on your eyes using the shades and the back of the palette features a diagram with instructions to obtain a single eye look using the shades.

Each palette is $3.59 at Harmons but likely will be around $4.99 when they hit Rite Aid, etc…

The Smoke and Melrose shade selection is made up of a dominate dusky rose scheme with touches of taupe, plum, and rose gold thrown in. Looking at the palette I think it’s a rather stunning selection of colors that pair up well together. I’m a bit in disagreement with placement for the shades as they do have some wold ideas about where colors go on your eye but this seems to be the standard for Wet n Wild as they have absolutely no remorse for recommending you place a bright yellow eyeshadow on your brow bone haha!

This particularly palettes color scheme quite reminds me of the recently introduced Bare Minerals An Affair To Remember, Tarte Rainforest After Dark Palette, and even the Tarte MATTEficent Palette. It isn’t a dupe for any of those palettes but the shades do remind me of colors in these!

Unlike the original 5 Pan Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette this palette isn’t chalky, nor is it dense and dry! The colors have very minimal frostiness (Wet n Wild Eyeshadow is legendary for being too frosty for me), a soft, silky formula that blends easily onto lids and wears well with fairly good pigmentation. I really, really was pleased with the formula on these. They do fade a bit after application so prep well with a shadow primer and you shouldn’t have any issues at all. My main problem with the palette was the colors do tend to go a bit muddy because they are so similar once applied so it’s difficult to contrast and get definition with colors of the same tone. Aside from this very minor quirk I loved the colors, I love the formula and texture, and I loved the way they looked on my eyes.

I’m very, very pleased that Wet n Wild has improved upon the formula of these Coloricon Eyeshadow Palettes and think that this particularly shade selection is well worth picking up! I’m looking forward to trying the other three colors I picked up now because if they are as good as this one I’ll be a happy girl!

The Wet n Wild Smoke and Melrose ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette is available now at Harmons and upcoming to other drugstores for Fall!

Glad to hear the formula has improved on these. Of course I was getting them no matter what the reviews were. I guess I officially collect WnW le palettes somehow lol. Great lips!

It looks gorgeous! I’m pretty sure we won’t get it here in Europe 🙁
But then again it also reminds me a lot of the Naked 3 palette! (And i do have that one) 😀

OK, I want Melrose at Night, but seeing these swatches makes me want this collection, too. I have green eyes so I think that’d bring out the color really well for me. (I hope!)

I think I will have to check out Walgreens and see if they have this 🙂 I love the colors and I think if I get a few of the palettes it will be OK for travel (and I will not be too sad when they get broken etc like when my Unzipped palette got broken)

I want these for the names alone; I spent my entire teens & 20s hanging out on Melrose back in the day!

Ooh, so pretty! The rosy tones definitely remind me of the Naked3 palette. Glad the texture was better! I’ll probably end up picking this one up. 😀

I get excited when I see new Wet N Wild eyeshadows and I’m glad this collection has an improved formulation. I need the Smoke and Melrose and Melrose at Night in my life. Lol. Thank you for the review!:)

Giiiiirl…. I still wanna see you put them on where they suggest you do it. LOL.

    Or SOMEONE do it.

    It’ll be fun!

(I’m tempted to buy these just to try it. Lol.)

I’ve looked high and low for this specific palette and I can’t find it anywhere ;-(
