Yes, It’s True, MUA Makeup Academy is at CVS

MUA Makeup Academy CVS

Yes, It’s true, MUA Makeup Academy is at CVS! The MUA Makeup Academy Collection has long since been a budget friendly makeup line available in the UK (you might remember the very awesome Undressed Eyeshadow Palette) and it’s now launching at CVS locations for the Fall 2014 season and will be permanently available a CVS!

The MUA Makeup Academy will include more than 145 products in three main categories, lips, false eyelashes, and makeup brushes. Yes, I’m pretty sad none of the core color collection has become available in the US but I have hopes at some point we’ll see more of the line.

Developed under the same Makeup Academy brand name as the popular UK line, this new collection was designed specifically and exclusively for CVS with a unique product collection.

“Makeup Academy is another example of our dedication to first-to-market innovation within the store brand category,” said George Coleman, Vice President of Store Brands at CVS/pharmacy. “We are proud to introduce this professionally-designed, premium cosmetics and beauty accessories line, developed specifically to surprise and delight our beauty customers when they visit their local CVS/pharmacy.”

Makeup Academys wide range of unique lip formulations will be available in over 100 products choices for as little as $8 each and the makeup brush line will include plenty of options fixing brushes with a mix of natural and synthetic fibers.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. Just an FYI: Nouveau Cheap did a post about MUA at CVS that it is a line specifically made for CVS. It is made by the same company as the UK MUA brand, but it won’t have the same products as the UK brand.

  • kimkats

Well, poop. Only the brushes will be available ’round these here parts…. iz sad….

  • Kimmwc03

If the rest of the line is like the lip balm I tried already then it’s a pass for me. It was an overpriced, sub-par lip balm IMHO.

    • Isabella Muse

oh no that’s horrible! didn’t try anything yet so not sure what to expect but thanks! lemmings cured maybe!

  • Robin

Yippie!!!! Just wished they were doing eye makeup as well. Like you said, though, it’s a start! 😀

  • Christina

I tried the lip stains & loved them.. I think I have like 5 now which says a lot because I have big expectations when it comes to my lip stains. I didn’t like the sugar lip scrub, it felt like vasaline with a couple pieces of sugar.. No bueno..

    • Isabella Muse

thanks christina 😀 I guess I’ll start with the stains! 😀

Did I not just say the other day that I wished we had the British cheapie lines here???? Let’s see if this works…I wish Joe Manganiello would show up at my door in nothing but a towel 🙂

    • Christina

OMG I about died right now when I read your comment.. Thanks for the laugh I needed it today..

MUA has been busy lately! Last month, the brand came to the Netherlands and Belgium, but no special collection for us 🙁 well, better then nothing i guess… NYX and Sleek are also coming this month, fortunately these are low budget brands!

  • Jamie

I’m kinda bummed about this. It’s cool to have a whole new line of products to try, however MUA makes one of the only lip glosses i actually like and, I was so happy when I thought I’d be able to get it at cvs. And to makes things worse, it appears that the UK mua online store, no longer ships to the u.s. 🙁

I’ve grabbed two of the high shine lipsticks already, and nude and soft rosy MLBB. Love then both! They have a unique scent that I really like, cant’ put my finger on what it smells like but vanilla and warm pipe tobacco come to mind (could be crazy). They look beautiful and wear well. Hit for me. Unfortunately kind a small color range and there aren’t too many other colors I see myself wearing.

  • Bridget

I hope you do get the cheaper lines of MUA make-up over there. Here in the UK the standard lipsticks and nail polishes sell for 1.

  • Denise

I saw this in CVS the other and I was literally awestruck. NYX and now MUA? CVS is the best drugstore.

  • MakeupTray

It seemed expensive. The money they charged at CVS could go toward something else. How are their brushes, though?

  • Zoe

That seems ridiculously expensive. MUA lipsticks are €1.39 in Ireland and only about 1 in the UK. Even with the conversion rate, it doesn’t add up! Having said that, US brands are so much more expensive over here. Funny how it works. 🙂

  • Beau

I am a little disappointed by the pricing! As some previously mentioned, MUA typically runs way cheaper than this. Most lippies in the UK are only 1 quid!

  • CarrieAnne

I bought a liner in Rose and the extreme shimmer lipstick in Rose Gold yesterday, against my better judgment. The liner is quite good, I’d put it on par with Smashbox’s or Bobbi Brown’s, which I don’t buy anymore. The lipstick texture and color pigment is nice, but yep, it is a bit over-the-top shimmery for even a youthful-looking 37-year-old. LOL. It’s the size and finish, more glittery, than the shine itself. I toned it down by putting L’Oreal nude balm underneath first. I think I much prefer Sonia Kashuk’s lip products if I am going to spend about the same amount of money anyway.

  • Mediterranean Maven

I was really disappointed at the quality of the MUA makeup brushes at CVS. While the face brushes felt really soft, they shed like crazy. I had to pick off the hairs from my face after applying foundation with the BB/CC Cream Foundation Brush and that certainly took the thrill out of using an otherwise wonderful brush with a flawless application. Same thing happened with the flat top powder brush, the fluffy powder brush and the blush brush. I just gave up. They shed so much I returned each of them. The eye brushes are too small overall and I found myself reaching for my other standbys to complete my eye makeup look. Overall, this is a definite pass.

    • Isabella Muse

I only tried a shadow brush and I liked it! But the facial brushes are really getting trashed so def will avoid!

  • Jocelyn

So I went ahead and picked up the Lip Exfoliator… my first is… it’s OK… felt like vaseline with big sugar chunks.. i do like that you don’t have to take it off and whats left is a soothing, refreshing lip balm. It works..and that’s what matters..does its job.

  • Jules

The brushes are horrible. It sheds so badly, I’ve never had a brush that does that. I keep trying to use it (since I spent 20 dollars on it) but I get the same result every time. So disappointing. I also bought a liquid lipstick and the brush head on that was already warped when I opened it, brand new…..pretty color though

  • Jen

I got three samples from CVS on a little card of these lipsticks for a one time try. They have very 90s shades to them. They did not look good on me in middle school and do not look good on me now. It was a plum, too severe and goth, a fudge brown like I ate milk chocolate, and a rose pink which was dull.

More than a year ago I purchased at CVS Mua professional eye brows pencil.Absolutely loved it. Sadly no longer available. Hopefully will be back.
Why as a general rule all of the cosmetic lines / super expensive OR NOT are discontinuing great products on their own line . As a customer I’m puzzled , so would be Coco Chanel ? Hm !
Who cares about the customer when money and other interests are a lot more valued.
