Beauty Confessions: I’m Staring Too Long In That Mirror

beauty mirror

Beauty confession time! Mirrors…wow. So what is it with mirrors? They have some sort of evil power that draws us in or maybe they are magnetic?

Whatever it is we are somehow drawn to them….

I must confess…

While away this weekend I overspent way too much time staring at myself in the bathroom’s magnifying mirror. I mean seriously, am I the only freakazoid that does this? There’s just something about magnifying mirrors that draw me in. I admit that I start plucking hairs that I never, ever saw before whenever I get within a foot of a magnifying mirror. I also start obsessing about the pesky two or three blackheads on my nose that prove impossible to scrub away without a proper extraction! And let’s not forget I start seeing and imagining things that aren’t even there!

So my beauty confession…

I can waste literally hours in front of a magnifying mirror.

What’s your evil secret you’d like to confess about mirrors?

Do you avoid them or are you spending way too much time in front of one?!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Each time I am in front if a mirror, I pick away at or squeeze out my acne. And I only have adult acne – never had it as a teen – and I’m beginning to get craters 🙁 No mirrors for me, please. I’ll wear my makeup in the dark.

Yup. Me too. I notice every little blemish and every little whisker. Ugh. I think magnifying mirrors can be bad. 🙁

I just got home from vacation, and every time I wasn’t driving, I looked at the mirror in the sun visor.

the sun visor is the worst 😀 I always feel my eyes look less puffy in it so I constantly look in it before taking off 😀

I totally get the attraction of the Magnifying Mirror. Those things are evil. I can never tear myself away, which is why I don’t own one.

Nope, fellow freakazoid here. I analyze every inch of my skin like a maniac. Every pore, every line, everything. I definitely spend too much time looking in the mirror, not good for the self-esteem.

I’m mirror obsessed I’m afraid! For my 18th birthday, my mom got me a lovely dual sided mirror for putting my make up on (regular on one side, magnified on the other) and for the past 3 years, the magnified side has been my mortal enemy. I see those little overlooked blackheads on my nose and the baby chin hairs that I seemed to miss during my every other night routine and if I ignore them at night, the next morning it’s “attack of the tweezers: part 15 – the tweezening”.

My usual mirror is a magnifying one. I just tell myself it’s because my eyesight isn’t that great. 😉

I think you have to obsess in front of a mirror. Because without a mirror (or a good BFF) you wouldn’t really know about stray brow hairs or migrating lipstick. I’m both less vain and less self conscious when there are no reflective surfaces around. Yes, reflective surfaces. I will look at my reflection in store windows!
