MAC Brooke Shields

MAC Scone Bronzing Powder is a limited edition bronzing powder that launched with the MAC Brooke Shields Collection.

Considering Brooke always looks like she has that sunny glow on her face it seems like a bronzer powder makes for a perfect fit for this collection.

Take a peek!

MAC Brooke Shields Bronzer Compact

MAC Scone Bronzer

As you can see the MAC Brooke Shields Bronzer compact is really understated and uneventful. This is a taupe colored compact featuring the MAC emblem and Brooke’s autograph across the front. It has no mirror inside (totally shocked me) and feels very light and dare I say cheap? Sorry MAC, sorry Brooke. Brooke Shields is a pretty legendary actress, I did expect a little more with the packaging…nothing too blingy mind you or dramatic but nothing as simple and less than elegant as this either!

I personally prefer my bronzers with a hint of shimmer but unfortunately MAC Scone Bronzing Powder has none. This is your typical tan bronzer shade with a matte finish and a slightly drier texture that has a stiff surface but gives away to a softer powder underneath. It proves difficult to swatch as you really have to crack away at the “outer shell” to reach the more silky powder under it. It blends poorly and dry on my skin and looked very light on the initial application. The best method to get it to work is to use a body bronzer brush or a larger powder brush and proceed to swipe that brush back and fourth across the top layer. Do this several times so you can remove the stiffer upper layer. Once you reach the silky powder underneath you’ll find it applies to skin a bit better and doesn’t look as dry. Of course, personally, I think you shouldn’t have to do this to begin with!

It’s a nice shade for contouring and to add a sunny glow to cheeks and face but the formula just wasn’t cutting it for me nor was the packaging anything special!

As a fan of Brooke Shields you can count me disappointed.

Anyone grab it?

It’s available now at MAC counters or online at shop.nordstrom.com.

Shhh! LOL! I actually picked this up because it’s matte and the color looked non-orange enough to possibly work with my pale, pale cool toned skin. I’ve liked the packaging but I agree that it’s bizarre without a mirror (this also has less product than a normal MAC bronzer) and I don’t think of Brooke when I see this… I think dystopian, futuristic society (like The Giver). Which is also cool. Which is also why I bought it. Maybe they don’t have a mirror because identity promotes individuality and individuality leads to chaos and distruction. Yes… yes. Sameness is better. Sameness is good. Orgy-porgy, Ford and fun? Soylent Green is people. Big brother is watching you. Thundercats ho.

It’s also possible I stayed up REALLY late last night and need a nap.

wth no mirror seriously? that confused me. the compact was a bit flimsy too. mmmmm I dunno Brooke always looks sunny and glow-y so I kinda get a vibe from it. LOL you’re a drama queen you realize that right? The Giver really? LOL you had too much sugar or what?

I would have liked if this had a bit of shimmer too. It would have made this a lot more universally appealing

So, all the things you hate about it pretty much make it perfect for me. 🙂 Light in color, matte, slightly dry (won’t be an issue with my more oily skin). I don’t like the cheap packaging though. I’ll prob end up just getting the RHPS shaping duo instead. Unless you think that really sucks. Are you reviewing it?

I don’t have the duo! Was going to order it but skipped..I imagine it’ll make a great contouring tool 😀

Aw, too bad you were a bit disappointed with this one. I agree, there’s nothing exciting about it.

Yuck! Looks like drugstore packaging, not a representation of Brooke Shields at all in my opinion….The whole collection seems underwhelming…

I bought it and I’m not thrilled about it. I’m an NC15 and yet I can hardly see the bronzer when it’s on my skin.. It’s nice to warm up my face a tiny bit but it’s kind of just a pain.
