I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen Rocky Horror Picture Show! I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been to interactive showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show, how many times I dressed up as a Rocky Horror Picture Show character for Halloween, how many times I wished I’d grow up to be as fabulous as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, how many times I’ve played and replayed the soundtrack while singing along in the shower, at Karaoke, or just randomly bursting out into my rendition of Sweet Transvestite!

I am an utter faithful fan and servant to everything that is awesome about this cult classic film and I’m thanking the makeup gods today for a MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show Makeup Collection.

  • Brandi

    You’re lucky, he’s lucky, I’m lucky, we’re all lucky! Ha ha ha…

    I want it all!!

  • Sammie

I both need for this to get ALL of the rave reviews while also needing some products to not get good reviews so I don’t completely break the bank! LOL.

Just a question, since I’m not completely familiar with all of MAC’S products – are the Chromographic pencils eyeliners? Or are they usable wherever?

    • Isabella Muse

sammie, depends on the shades! They are actually for use everywhere (lips, eyes, body (for drawing) etc) however, MAC has a list of shades and where they can or cannot be used…! I’m unsure about these shades but the box typically has a small note stating if they are eye, lip, body safe etc…! If I hear more on these shades I’ll let ya know, but typically it’s kinda a free fall of wherever you’d like to use them, they are limited to just eyes or just lips etc! 🙂

  • Ashley

Oh mah god. I’m gonna need at least Formidable Teal, Sin and Franken Furter lipsticks…I’d like the palette too…and bad fairy polish lol unfortunately I probably want the most coveted lipsticks 🙂
Btw I love it when you post these collection posts because you post the prices too, so I can budget (gotta brace myself lol) and the sticker shock doesn’t talk me down 😉

  • Katie

I had heard a rumor about this probably 2 months ago… Thank you for posting all of these pictures! I guess I know where my next paycheck is going. I don’t even wear glitter but I must have everything with those lips on it! Muse, your first paragraphs are straight out of my mouth – except that I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to be IN the shadow cast 3 times, once as Columbia 🙂 Ugh… my boyfriend will hate me for buying all this but I don’t care. MUST. HAVE.

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure katie 😀 omg that is incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 In high school I had a bit part doing the time warp 😀 but never a main part haha!

  • Sjofna

Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! I need these!! I just showed these to my boyfriend; my birthday is one week after Halloween, maybe he’ll get what I’m hinting at and get me these. Otherwise they’ll just have to one of my presents to myself.

  • Karen

The Post-It is already on the computer counting down the days until 9/29! Maybe it’s just me and all my years going as Magenta for the midnight showing of RH but how could MAC do lipsticks without one in honor of Magenta? Hers are the lips in the intro after all 🙂

  • Cindy

Still dread the day that my future boyfriend would never be as sexy as Riff-Raff. Waited years for this collection. Good thing that most of it is not my colour. Guess it’s okay to buy three of the lipsticks since I decided that Frank-n-Further is way more awsome then Pied-de-Poule. Still not sure if I want to break the bank for the nailpolish. But the lipsticks, oh the lipstics, I am going to dig deep online for swatches 🙂

  • cat

Looks like there could be some fun to be had here. The lacquers are jumping out at me and the gold glitter is tempting though I wouldn’t have anything to do with it. Underwhelmed by the packaging though. Not sure why MAC thinks they can just slap a sticker on the packaging and call it a day.

  • em

Am I in a time warp, or is that really Bad Fairy being re-released? In the new formulation no less…?!?
    With the RHPS branding?
    Oh hell…

  • Carolina

Hi. Ok so I’m sitting here trying to pull an all nighter like back during my college days, because Mac was “supposed’ to launch this line online at midnight. It is now almost 12:30am and nada 🙁
I hope they put it on the site soon before I fall asleep and miss out. I know it launches in Mac stores on Thursday, but sites have been promoting it to go online September 29th.
Would you happen to know if it’s worth waiting for tonight to I’ll have better luck waiting for October 2nd?
P.S. Love your reviews! Thanks for sharing!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m sorry not sure why they didn’t launch Carolina. Maybe today/tonight? Just got this comment so couldn’t reply right away! aw thanks so glad you enjoy Musings of a Muse!

  • Dymond

Any idea if this will be available online today? I don’t see it on the website….

  • Dymond

Thanks for the link! That’s farther than I got I couldn’t even find it on the site. I wonder what they are waiting for.

      • Ruth

I need the lipsticks, polishes, blush, and maybe the eyes shadow. But the shadow has a total 70’s vibe that i don’t think I can pull off.

        • Isabella Muse

I was trying the shadow palette last night, pretty ok! thought it would would be unwearable but it isn’t 🙂

          • ruth

You are the best enabler ever! Speaking of enabling, I started watching Supernatural and those men are easy on the eyes! *fans self*

  • em

Just FYI, mac is now saying the collection launch is being delayed until tomorrow. Slight chance it may still launch tonight, and they still recommend checking the mobile site periodically but most likely not until then…not that it really helps the stalking situation but just to give everyone a heads up..

  • em

    Happy to (sorta, kinda) help.
To continue on that wayward track, they posted a tweet that RHPS will be available online “Sept 30 before noon EST”

Gotta say, this is my first foray into mac cosmetics -super duper stressful! But fingers crossed it’s gonna be worth it…

  • Katie

So is it really bad that now that we’re at the point of buying, I want one of everything… JUST IN CASE I decide to go all out with the makeup to see Rocky Horror at some point? I never wear glitter or the MAC pigments, or even lipliner, but those darn Red Lips are pulling me in and I want everything. I keep telling myself that I don’t need it and when will I really wear it? Tell me I’m not crazy and to just buy everything because maybe I’ll play with it some day 😀

  • Carolina

It’s finally available for purchase!! I placed my order all except frank-n-furter. But i’ll be watching like a hawk til I get it, lol

  • Carolina

I’m liking the glitters but am afraid it’ll sit on my table and look pretty. Do you mind posting some looks to incorporate glitter please? 🙂

      • Heather

I’ve found that as long as I mix the glitter with one of the mixing bases, and don’t just use it loose, it actually really stays on, and I have never had a problem. I wear contacts, and have extremely sensitive eyes, too, and with the mac glitter I’ve honestly never gotten anything in my eyes. And i wore it to clubs and sweat and really put it to the test lol and it stayed in place. You could also use vaseline, too, but not much, and it will give it a slightly shiny look, so I suggest mixing in a pearlescent neutral pigment or even crush up a cheap eyeshadow, in with the glitter, to give it a better effect. The glitter looks amazing used on your lips, too… you can get mac clear lip gloss, in the tube, and squeeze some into anything you wanted, if it’s for the night or just a test, even a paper towel or foil would work, and add the glitter to taste. I would use a ton of it, and would first apply a primer to my lips, then a thin coat of a lipstick, matte or satin depending on what you like and what effect you want, matte actually makes the glitter look more like glitter then a shiny gloss, and use a tissue to blot off excess, then apply the glitter gloss with a lip brush or your finger. I would dab it on at first, because i could apply a thicker coat that way, then once it was all on so it was almost covering my lips, I would such my lips gently, not hard, and not all the way, just until the top of the top lip and the bottom of the bottom lip lined up, and opened, and it would evenly distribute the glitter so there were no gaps. You could always touch it up tho. And i always used a no bleed lip liner, they are usually skin color, around after the primer and before the lipstick. Super important. I use it every day I am applying any lipstick or gloss that’s not a nude or natural color, even if I’m using a color lip liner with it. Once you are done applying the glitter, I always finish up with loose powder, preferably a finishing powder or matte flying powder, and apply it in the little indent where your top lip goes in in the center, outside the lip, and all around your lipline. Make sure you blend it, though, just using your fingertip. It’s just added protection against it bleeding and smudging. Especially with Halloween coming up, the glitter lips looks amazing, and can make any costume more sexy and glamorous 🙂

  • Ruth

And it’s sold out. *sigh* I’m going to call the MAC store and see if I can grab a couple pieces that way.

  • Heather

Does anyone know anyplace I can find the reddish rocky horror pigment? I have been looking everywhere! The day I got the email it was still available online, I was in class, and I went home, and got online a few hours later, and it was sold out :'( I am devastated because I loooooove the pigments! I used the mixing bases and make my own lipgloss, lipstick, shadows liners blushes highlighters everything! I am in love with that color! I would literally pay double for it! If anyone has any ideas of where else to look, or has an extra and I’ll pay up to $45 for it, please let me know! 🙂

  • Carolina

Thanks Heather! I picked it up at the mac store on the day it launched. Now I can’t wait to use it!

    • Heather

Have fun with it!!!!! That’s why I absolutely love mac make up! They really like intend all their colors and glitters and pigments to just be versatile, and just go crazy creative with them! Their glitters and sooooooo incredible, because they are such fine pieces of glitter, they really go one almost exactly like a pigment! You can use a very light coat, to making it into a liner, to applying it super thick, to making your lips just a solid layer of glitter and sparkle!!!! I love love love everything mac! ♡ enjoy it!!!!!!! 🙂
