Milani Enchanted Ruby

Milani Enchanted Ruby Lipstick is one of three limited edition shades launching with the Milani Bedazzled Collection at Walgreens and CVS this Fall.

With all the the fantastic Holiday makeup collections we’ve been seeing I’d say Milani Enchanted Ruby Lipstick fits right in as this is a rather stunning shade of Holiday red.

Take a look!

Milani Enchanted Ruby Lipstick ($6.49) is packaged different when compared the Milani Color Statement Lipstick range. As you can see this lipstick comes in a gold tube and features a clear cover. I actually totally dig this packaging. First off, when you’re at the drugstore you can actually see the shade you’re purchasing and secondly, when you get it home and store it away in a drawer or a tray you can again, see the color you’re looking for without removing the cap. Although lightweight the packaging is actually quite nice to look at! The clear cap compliments the shiny gold of the barrel perfectly. I’m actually the first person to say how much I love Milani but also how much I wish they’d update their packaging. In the case of this lipstick, I’d say they did a great job with the look of it!

Milani Enchanted Ruby Lipstick Swatches

Milani Enchanted Ruby Lipstick is a creamy satin but it feels more like a matte to me since it does tug a fair bit during application. I tested it a few different times and initially the outer layer of the lipstick was quite dense. After a few uses and passes over my lips the layer seemed to wear away and under it was a far creamier lipstick. So if you do get it, you might want to run it across your arm (as if you’re swatching it for photos) two or three times to warm it up a bit. It’s still a drier lipstick but at least applies considerably better after it’s been warmed up. I find it does like the migrate and will likely feather on drier lips so a transparent or colored lip liner will keep things looking neat and tidy. It wears for a solid five hours but during that time my lips felt quite dry under it unfortunately. Color stays true and vibrant during their wear and doesn’t flake and crack during that wear. It does have a hint of a sheen so even though it might feel drying, it does not look dry!

The real joy here is the stunning color. Milani Enchanted Ruby is just a gorgeous Holiday red. It looks a like a purple berry red in the tube but it actually applies with more of a warmer berry wine on lips. It has a nice warmth to it with no blue undertones. The pigment is rich and vibrant and fades very slowly which gives it a long, strong wear. A single pass will provide opaque color.

The formula is a bit of a hassle but Milani Enchanted Ruby Lipstick might be worth the chore for some. I can see myself not wearing this alone but with gloss on top to make it a more comfortable ride. What it lacks in moisture it makes up for in excellent pigmentation and incredible wear. You might be willing to overlook some of its flaws for the brilliant color pay off and excellent wear time.

Milani Enchanted Ruby Lipstick is available now, for a limited time, at CVS and Walgreens (my original press release said it was a Walgreens exclusive but reader’s are reporting they purchased at CVS).

After searching like a million stores I finally got everything I wanted this morning. So excited! This lipstick looks beautiful on you! I really like the color. Definitely a great holiday red! I can’t wait to try mine

I have enchanted topaz (the nude) & really like it but that first night i got it, it broke! the actual lipstick tube is so dry, it simply broke off! i’m so upset! i really liked it but now it’s almost useless… i think i’ll have to depot it & use it that way 🙁

    • Isabella Muse

oh no sorry Ivana! I have that shade too and it is crazy dry but didn’t break on me!

Oooohhh… I may have to track this one down! I love how it’s not too red, but not too berry/pink, either-Milani apparently found a perfect balance.

I just bought this!! LOL! I love it. It’s a little more vampy on me as I’m so pale, but I think it’s a gorgeous shade. This feels very matte to me, and I agree that it feels a little thick. But what really surprised me was how well it stained. I wore it for about an hour to test drive it and then decided to blot my lips on a Kleenex. It matted that sucker down even more and my lips just looked perfectly stained. It was such an unexpected effect. It kind of reminded me how my lips look using the Tarte matte lip tints, but at a fraction of the price. I hope there are more shades to come in this formula cuz I’m digging it!

agreed! it’s supposed to be satin but it feels way matte on me! I heard they are doing an entire matte statement lipstick range for Spring 2015 😀

HI 🙂 I’m one of the many people who view your blog daily but don’t leave a comment but I had to comment on this product because of how you described the formula. Everyone keeps saying the product felt creamy on them. I was confused when I applied this lipstick because I felt like it was a matte but it felt like it was something else as well. It was so confusing lol I find it drying but not as drying as most and I do agree its a wonderful color. It looks nice on you

    • Isabella Muse

same same. You have to break through that initial hard shell. def not creamy those, quite dense and stiff. it’s supposed to be satin but it feels matte to me! Aw thanks Nisha! it needs a lot of warming up to get that creaminess everyone might be speaking of!

I like my lippies easy and effortless, so I’ll pass. The color looks lovely on you though.

I’ve seen you try on a lot of lipsticks since I started reading, but this one looks so beautiful on you I think you should wear it more often!

  • Annie

This is the last item from this collection I have yet to track down… I got all the constellation gel liners and the Enchanted Amethyst lipstick (which is a dupe for Mac’s RiRi Boy!) Hoping to find this lipstick as well. The collection has yet to hit my CVS stores (only Walgreens) so hopefully I spot it soon at CVS! Great fall/holiday red!

Wow, I really like that shade of red. I think it would be a good one for me. I’m going to have to be on the lookout for these. Haven’t seen them in my area yet but will definitely want to get one when they show up.
