Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil

Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil is a new daily treatment oil that contains 9 natural oils to nourish, soften, and hydrate skin. With facial oils on the trending horizon the release of Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil is right on target!

I actually currently use a facial oil in my own skincare regime as I know many of you do too and since Olay is sorta kinda the pioneer for a drugstore facial oil release I was in fact intrigued.

Olay Facial Oil

Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil will prove great for some but not all skin types. Unfortunately Olay does include a good deal of fragrance oils in this mix and that could prove a bit irritating for sensitive skin. There’s orange, lemon, and other citrus oils in this formula. There’s also mint in here as well! You can imagine these oils give the product a very lovely lemon-y fragrance but again, for those with sensitive skin it might not be agreeable. I don’t really mind, I think it smells quite lovely!

Olay Regenerist Facial Oil

This comes in a 1.3 oz bottle with dropper. It’s actually unique to any other facial oil I’ve personally tried since it does have an almost dry oil texture when applied. It absorbs very fast and has a watery consistency without being greasy or oily to the touch! It doesn’t leave skin shiny or oily and dries down to a smooth slightly dewy finish. I find it applies a nice bit of hydration to my drier skin.

The formula has quite a nice concentrated amount of plant based oils that are rich in antioxidants and will benefit skin. However, the citrus oils could make skin sensitive to sun. I typically use it in the evenings only and I make sure I apply plenty of SPF in the AM.

I think Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil is an awesome idea and a nice budget pick for those who already use products like Josie Maran’s more expensive Argan Oil formula. However, I do think they mucked the formula up slightly with the addiction of the citrus oils that could prove irritating!

Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil is available now at drugstores or grab it at Ulta.com.

I use Josie Maran’s Argon Oil — love it but the price does hurt a bit. I was kind of surprised that Olay didn’t have some type of oil out yet — which is why I ended up with Josie’s product.

I’ll keep an eye out on this one — I love Olay and I’ve been using for years and years and years (20+) and would love to try this out.

Hi Isabella — You are quite right about the fragrant plant oils. They aren’t good for your skin. It’s not just the fragrance that irritates…citrus oils actually cause phototoxicity to the skin cells. You may want to check out beautypedia.com for more explanation on why fragrant plant extracts aren’t suitable for skin happiness and please don’t ruin your beautiful skin. And no, I don’t work for the Paula’s Choice people; I do buy some of their skincare products and mix into my CeraVe routine, so I read a lot of their articles and reviews. Smart stuff.

I’m going to try that tonight. It didn’t feel right on top of my nighttime moisturizer. Have you worn it under makeup?

        • Isabella Muse

typically facial oils are supposed to be applied before moisturizers, that’s probably why it doesn’t feel right. I can’t wear it under makeup or any facial oil under makeup for that matter, my makeup fades faster plus this is too rich for AM use. Add the fact that it makes your skin sensitive to sunlight and it’s a big no for AM use for me.

            Good to know.

The directions said to put it on after moisturizer (which I thought was weird).

          • Isabella Muse

that’s very odd. Facial oils, serums should be applied first and moisturizers after. You should def try UNDER moisturizer, you’ll like get better results.

I put it on under tonight. It feels much better. I thought that was weird too.

    Hi Isabella,

I have the Olay Ragenerist Luminous Collection, I so in love with the look of my skin, Olay works perfectly on my skin, been using for many2 years on Olay Total Effect 7in1 range and when I saw the Luminous Collection, I decided to change to this range and been using Olay Luminous basic for half year (Facial, Moisturizer & Eye Hydraswirl) And recently I just bought the Luminous Facial Oil 🙂

I found that it’s weird putting the “Facial Oil” after Moisturizer as it claim on the box. And search on the internet to know more and found your blog. Read all your comments, thanks for letting us know to put the Facial Oil under Moisturizer. I have Olay White Radiance Cellucent Toner & Serum (this combination makes my skin more brighter & perfect, hee) and I need help on this too where should I apply Luminous Facial Oil then? After Toner before Serum or after Serum? Do you have any idea?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Ferra! I’m glad to hear it! 🙂 Very weird isn’t it!? I never heard of facial oil after moisturizer! 😀 oddness! No problem! Hope it worked out well for you! I typically I apply serum first, face oil after and moisturizer at the last step! Hope this helps!
