Urban Decay Black Magic 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Eye Pencil Set Review & Swatches
The Urban Decay Black Magic 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Eye Pencil Set ($39) is one of two new eyeliner sets launching September 13th with the Urban Decay Holiday 2014 Collection.
The idea behind the Urban Decay Black Magic 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Eye Pencil Set is kinda interesting as they took traditional shades that you likely use daily such as black, brown, etc and paired them up with a more colorful shade.
Let’s take a look!
The Urban Decay Black Magic 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Eye Pencil Set includes four double ended 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils for a total of eight shades. I’m actually always looking for ways to save space and I have a lot of makeup (obviously right?) so double ended anything is cool with me as I save space this way. Of course this also means less product as each eyeliner shade weights in at 0.01 oz each which is less than the deluxe size 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils you’d get in Holiday sets which typically are 0.03 oz in size. Moral of the story? Double Ended pencils are either a great win for you because you like to save space and already have tons of eyeliners and likely won’t use a full size anytime soon! OR they are a nightmare because some of the shades are LE and you might love that shade and you might run through it and you really wish you had a full size of it! I happen to fall in the, “Hey, it’s ok if it’s smaller as long as it saves me some space” group! But I can see the issue with double-ended pencils not being a win for everyone.
Needless to say you’re going to run into some reruns here. Zero, Black Velvet, and Perversion are three out of the five shades. Lord knows, I have enough Zero to line a small nation’s eyes. But I don’t really mind the repeats of Perversion and Black Velvet as they are truly some of the richest shades of blacker than black eyeliner I own and I use both very, very, very often. Tornado and Black Market might be familiar as well since one appeared in the Ocho Loco 2 Eyeliner Set and the other in the Black Market Eyeliner Set.

Creatively I loved they are presenting this as a standard shade selection of black, brown, etc paired up with colorful shade! But in reality you’re getting pretty standards colors that aren’t terribly colorful. The only really different shade here that could be considered somewhat dramatic is LSD which is a bright turquoise. The other shades I’d classify as more traditional smoky colors such as purples, browns, blacks, greys, etc…in my vision I’d say pair Perversion with a Woodstock, now we’re talking color eh? On the upside, you’ll likely reach for many of these shades quite often. I did notice that the finishes here are different as you a good deal of creamy, glossy shades along with other shades that are more matte in finish.
I’m a strong supporter of Urban Decay’s eyeliner formula anyway I can get it. These are creamy, long wearing on my drier eyes, yet easy to apply without tugging, and super blendable. It’s a liner formula that’s never failed me especially if you love colorful eyeliners.
The Urban Decay Black Magic 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Eye Pencil Set brings together a strong selection of colors with different finishes for dramatic or everyday looks. But there are a few repeats which not everyone will love particularly huge fans of the brand that already own many of their eyeliners!
