Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencil Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencil

I purchased a few Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencils as they are being repromoted with the new Enchanting Halloween Looks Wet n Wild Collection. I actually didn’t know about Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencils prior to seeing them in the display…I guess I never explored the Wet n Wild core collection because these passed me by for some reason.

I was quite happy to have snagged a few of the Fall shades though, two of the three I believe are limited edition, as I’m a fond fan of cream shadow especially ones in pencil format as they are easy for swipe and go looks!

Let’s take a look!

Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencils

In theory, Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencils sound great! These are a shorter, chubby cream shadow stick you can use to line and shade with. The formula is divine on first swatch! Pigmented, creamy yet super slick so they glide across my drier lids without a hiccup! I find the color blends out beautifully and the slicker texture makes for easy, no tug application. The colors have excellent pigmentation as well and build very, very easily.

Problem…

First off, oily lids turn back now! You’ll never survive 10 minutes with this formula. The formula never truly sets and remains quite emollient through the wear which basically translates to major creasing and fading within I’d say the first hour of wear and likely that will be shorter for oily lids.

Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencil Swatches (Graphite, Brunching Downtown, Who Are You Wearing)

I was so so so disappointed because truly the texture is fabulous and some of the shades are just delightful! Like Who Are You Wearing? is a delightful shimmery gold and Graphite is a very pretty smokey gray.

But sadly, where as the texture works fabulous during application it does not, unfortunately, wear well and creases as well as fades very rapidly which makes these little cream shadows a no go for me.

Ugh, I tried these years ago when I first started getting into Wet n Wild makeup and was so disappointed as well! It’s too bad they didn’t reformulate these like they’re doing with the 5-pan eyeshadow palettes.

Who Are You Wearing is gorgeous on you!

oh thanks chica! yeah, not good! I actually thought they were new or something as I never even noticed them until they were in the halloween display duh!

For someone that’s been looking for eye glosses, you think these might fit the bill? I don’t mind if they crease a bit, because I’ll just fix them up while I’m out, like I used to do with the Rimmel ones. PLus, I’d try them over primer. For not a lot of money, I’m willing to give them a go, just wondering what you think.

    • Isabella Muse

absolutely auro! very much an eye gloss formula! 🙂 I’d try them if I wear if that’s the type of look/formula you want! they are cheap as chips online at walgreens.com for $1.34 too!

Sweet. I’m hoping to find them at Rite Aid this week, since it’s 40%. I kind of like the quick and not quite sloppy “I threw this on my eyes” look occasionally and eye glosses are the easy way to do it and easy to reapply during the day.

for quickie looks they are def the way to go 🙂 update me, I’d be curious to hear your thoughts!

I have no problems with mine, but then even NARS pencils-which seem to be the bane of nearly every beauty blogger- also wear like iron on me. Conversely, UD 24/7 pencils wear off by the time I’m done applying my lipstick… I’ve even napped in the WnW pencils & woken with nary a smudge!

    • Isabella Muse

you sleep with these on and they don’t fade or crease? wow…I’m impressed! they were so slick on me they slid right off!

I bought the blue/purple shade and it is gorgeous! I found it did NOT last long on my lids before creasing and fading and looking generally awful, however it stayed quite well and looks nice on my lower lash line (not my waterline).
    So I don’t feel like it’s a total waste!

    • Isabella Muse

same here! wore great on my lower lash line but faded in a snap on my lid :-/

      • Hanna

Well, they are cheap cheap cheap, so I guess it’s ok for a pop of color on your bottom lashes. I think I am going to pick up that graphite shade.

I bought some of the balm stains from the Halloween collection after your review and really like those as well. I normally don’t buy wet n wild because they are SO hit or miss for me, so I generally only purchase after I see your reviews.

Creme brûlée eye singles as under eye concealer is literally one of the greatest things that’s ever happened to me, and it’s thanks to you!

        • Isabella Muse

exactly my thoughts! and they are like buck something on walgreens website so why not!? YAY! I’m so glad you liked them and don’t feel bad wnw is sometimes a hit and miss for me too! So glad you liked the creme brulee concealer trick hehe 🙂
