Benefit Bathina All Over Me Scented Body Mist Review
As a huge fan of Maybe Baby I was beyond excited about the Benefit Bathina All Over Me Scented Body Mist ($30) that launched recently for the Fall/Holiday 2014 season. First off, I adore Bathina! Each new Bathina piece gets added happily to my Benefit Collection and I have some really old pieces that over 12 years old or so when I first started collecting Benefit Cosmetics.
Benefit actually released a rather fab Bathina Soft to Touch Hard to Get Body Oil Mist last year and as much as I love it I actually prefer more of a fragrance mist so Benefit Bathina All Over Me couldn’t come at a better time especially since I miss Maybe Baby so very much!
Benefit Bathina All Over Me Scented Body Mist is actually formulated in a very interesting manner. Benefit designed it to be hydrating and also alcohol free so it doesn’t stain clothes! I’ve been on the receiving end of fragrances that have left yellow stains on my clothes and believe me they are not coming out once they set in. So sure, the idea of an alcohol free formula intrigued me. I also suffer from drier skin and alcohol isn’t exactly friendly for any skin type especially with drier skin so again, this sounded amazing.
Benefit Bathina All Over Me Scented Body Mist comes housed in a 1.7 oz metallic pink genie bottle featuring Bathina’s pin up self decorating the front. It’s cute, it’s vanity display worthy, and it’s quintessentially Benefit.
This does indeed smell like the original Maybe Baby fragrance but on a much lighter scale. It’s a very light floral with a hint of sweetness. The heart of the fragrance is litchi and bergamot mixed with hints of peach, poppy, ginger, apricot, cyclamen, and white musk. They call it seductive and I’d agree. It’s a unique fragrance that isn’t full on floral nor is it overly sweet. It’s the perfect light refreshing floral that makes me think of fluffy ribboned cotton puffs for dusting on powder, pink bows, and baby doll pajamas!
The formula absorbs quickly and you can even use it on your hair! Unfortunately, it is water based and as advertised it is fresh and hydrating but that water base also means the fragrance doesn’t have as long lasting a throw or linger as an alcohol based perfume or body mist. My skin sucks this up quickly so within an hour of spritzing it on it pretty much disappears. It does have a longer linger in my hair though!
I love, love, love the idea of this but hate that my skin’s body chemistry simply refuses to work with! Most will find that the fragrance lasts a very short time which makes it a rather disappointing purchase.
Hopefully Benefit considers giving Maybe Baby a big return one day soon!
