The It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette ($42) is a new all matte eyeshadow Holiday 2014 palette and follow up to the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Eyeshadow Palette that launched last year!
This is a gorgeous palette that houses 14 It Cosmetics Eyeshadows and one 1 Transforming Ombre Radiance Ribbon Eyeshadow which can be used as a blending tool to sheer shades out and give them a pearl finish.
Take a look!
The main concern I’m hearing regarding the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette is the fact that it looks similar to the original Naturally Pretty Eyeshadow Palette. There are dupes to be had here but I think for the most part the Celebration Palette is a little cooler, a little less pigmented, and a little more subtle compared to the original. The shades feel a little warmer in my original palette where as the Celebration Palette has a good deal of sheerer colors. I think you can see that when looking at the photo below displaying the palettes side by side.
If it’s dupes you’re worried about here’s a break down to colors that swatch very much the same and loose similar on eyes:
- Snow Angel (new) vs Sheer Joy (old)
- Starry Night (new) vs Midnight (old)
- Coal (new) vs Noir (old)
- Sugar Plum (new) vs Iconic (old) (Not a complete dupe but the shades look similar when blended, I find that Iconic is a darker purple overall)
- Spice (new) vs Java (old) (Not a complete dupe as Java is richer and more pigmented but blended out there’s similarities for sure)
- Cozy (new) vs Warmth (old) (There’s more pigment in Warmth and Cozy is a sheerer version)
There are a few similarities between shades but I feel like overall, the Celebrate Palette brings more sheerness and subtly to the table. A few reader’s pointed out that these are excellent blending shades and I’d say they are right. If you combine the two palettes they actually work great together as Celebration provides good color washing shades and the original Naturally Pretty provides contrasting shades to add definition to your look. Is this disappointing? Somewhat yes. And yes, I do prefer the original palette to the new one but none the less I’m happy to have Celebration because it brings together an excellent selection of soft, silky, easy to blend and use mattes. Truly if you have aging eyes or dry eyes these shades are a girl or guy’s best friend. They are so soft and so silky. They literally melt across my eye as I apply them. They do have a slightly powdery texture but there isn’t fall out here nor chalkiness or dryness. Once applied they have a soft, airbrushed appearance! Some of lighter shades run sheerer but they build easily.
The nice part about the palette is if the matte finish isn’t doing it for you, you have the option to use the Transforming Ombre Radiance Ribbon color. This is a soft bronze-y pearl that adds a hint of beige shimmery pearl to shadows. I find it sheers darker colors out and adds just a touch of radiance to them. I actually swatched the shade alone and on top of a shadow but I don’t think you can really see the effects well in swatches! It works best on the lid.

There may be some disappointment when experiencing the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette at first because let’s face it you are comparing it to the original’s greatness it is fact sheerer. And sure, I do prefer the original palette! But I can’t deny that this palette houses some of the best mattes I’ve had the pleasure of using. They are so soft, so silky, so easy to blend! It’s the type of palette that will make you fall in love with mattes even if you’re a firm hater of the finish. Used together I think that both the Celebration and the original Naturally Pretty Palette will give you 28 of the greatest matte shades you’ll own!
