It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Palette

The It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette ($42) is a new all matte eyeshadow Holiday 2014 palette and follow up to the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Eyeshadow Palette that launched last year!

This is a gorgeous palette that houses 14 It Cosmetics Eyeshadows and one 1 Transforming Ombre Radiance Ribbon Eyeshadow which can be used as a blending tool to sheer shades out and give them a pearl finish.

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Eyeshadow Palette

The main concern I’m hearing regarding the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette is the fact that it looks similar to the original Naturally Pretty Eyeshadow Palette. There are dupes to be had here but I think for the most part the Celebration Palette is a little cooler, a little less pigmented, and a little more subtle compared to the original. The shades feel a little warmer in my original palette where as the Celebration Palette has a good deal of sheerer colors. I think you can see that when looking at the photo below displaying the palettes side by side.

If it’s dupes you’re worried about here’s a break down to colors that swatch very much the same and loose similar on eyes:

  • Snow Angel (new) vs Sheer Joy (old)
  • Starry Night (new) vs Midnight (old)
  • Coal (new) vs Noir (old)
  • Sugar Plum (new) vs Iconic (old) (Not a complete dupe but the shades look similar when blended, I find that Iconic is a darker purple overall)
  • Spice (new) vs Java (old) (Not a complete dupe as Java is richer and more pigmented but blended out there’s similarities for sure)
  • Cozy (new) vs Warmth (old) (There’s more pigment in Warmth and Cozy is a sheerer version)

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty vs Celebration

There are a few similarities between shades but I feel like overall, the Celebrate Palette brings more sheerness and subtly to the table. A few reader’s pointed out that these are excellent blending shades and I’d say they are right. If you combine the two palettes they actually work great together as Celebration provides good color washing shades and the original Naturally Pretty provides contrasting shades to add definition to your look. Is this disappointing? Somewhat yes. And yes, I do prefer the original palette to the new one but none the less I’m happy to have Celebration because it brings together an excellent selection of soft, silky, easy to blend and use mattes. Truly if you have aging eyes or dry eyes these shades are a girl or guy’s best friend. They are so soft and so silky. They literally melt across my eye as I apply them. They do have a slightly powdery texture but there isn’t fall out here nor chalkiness or dryness. Once applied they have a soft, airbrushed appearance! Some of lighter shades run sheerer but they build easily.

The nice part about the palette is if the matte finish isn’t doing it for you, you have the option to use the Transforming Ombre Radiance Ribbon color. This is a soft bronze-y pearl that adds a hint of beige shimmery pearl to shadows. I find it sheers darker colors out and adds just a touch of radiance to them. I actually swatched the shade alone and on top of a shadow but I don’t think you can really see the effects well in swatches! It works best on the lid.

There may be some disappointment when experiencing the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette at first because let’s face it you are comparing it to the original’s greatness it is fact sheerer. And sure, I do prefer the original palette! But I can’t deny that this palette houses some of the best mattes I’ve had the pleasure of using. They are so soft, so silky, so easy to blend! It’s the type of palette that will make you fall in love with mattes even if you’re a firm hater of the finish. Used together I think that both the Celebration and the original Naturally Pretty Palette will give you 28 of the greatest matte shades you’ll own!

Thanks for the review, Muse. I wish the shades were not that subtle, I don’t my eyeshadows to be sheer but it’s definitely a pretty palette.

  • Christina

Thank for the quick reveal. While I like that the shades are cooler–I look pretty terrible in the oranges that the original palette has–they look rather sheer. I knew to expect it based off of your review, but seeing some of the swatches, especially for the darker colors, was really disappointing. I’ll definitely need to check this one out in stores for sure.

    • Isabella Muse

let me know what you think when you try christina! these are def sheerer even the darker shades :-/

      • Christina

I do have to say, though, I like these shades more than what I’ve seen so far with the Lorac Mega Pro. I skipped that palette. Will power! LOL!

  • Icequeen81

It is for sure big to have on your handbag , but the shades are for sure very pretty

  • Renu

Ah, the post I was waiting for. Twenty-eight greatest mattes ever? I already own Vol 1 and if these shades are going to help blend out and complement those from Vol 1, then yes, I need this palette. Or I could just chuck this one into my travel bag. Thanks for the swatches and the honest review, Muse! Love your necklace.

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure renu! I think together they makeup a great selection of incredible shades 😀 Tell me what you think if and when you try renu 🙂 my pleasure dear! aw thanks!

  • amelia

Hi Muse, is the packaging faux suede type like the first one? I don’t have the original and heard lots of complaints about the packaging getting dirty fast. Thanks for the fast review!!!! 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

nope just cardboard with a shimmering/sparkly overlay. your welcome 🙂

    • Shannon

1st thing I did when I got my Vol 1 was spray it lightly with a suede protector/waterproofing [dry & reapply too]. I just knew that case was going to get yucky fast; I mean what were they thinking… they wised up on this 2nd round. The protector has really done a good job.

  • amelia

Hi Muse, thank you for your lightening fast response! I am a die hard BareMinerals fan. Can you tell me your opinion of these It palettes vs. BareMinerals loose powders and the BareMinerals Ready eyeshadows?

    • Isabella Muse

there isn’t really any similarities between ready eyeshadow and this formula amelia. it’s vastly different same goes for the loose powders. I find both have completely different textures/pigment/etc so there isn’t much to compare…as you can see from the swatches these are a lot sheerer and thinner compared to ready eyeshadow as well as less velvety. Kinda like comparing apples and oranges 🙂

  • Angie

Thanks for the swatches and review! Definitely helpful 🙂
On an unrelated note, what are the products on your lips in this post? Both colors are GORGEOUS on you and I just have to know what they are!! Thanks!

  • Kate

I have not tried these shadows but there are a few companies using the same packaging for their shadow palettes, leads me to believe they are all coming from the same private label company. Too cynical?

Or maybe it is a newer style palette that they want to use

  • Tami

Thanks for the great review and comparison to the other one. I was over the moon when I heard “IT” had a 2nd one..I loved their “vol 1 all matte” as much as my Tarte collection. It’s one of my favorite palettes! Maybe even more so b/c of the pigmentation of the mattes. But I’m going to have to think about it after seeing this b/c the new palette looks so similar to the old. I get what you are saying about it being a nice compliment to the other but I liked the other one because they were wonderfully pigmented mattes. That is so hard to find. As much as I love my other one, this one almost looks like a duplicate. Couldn’t they think of any new colors? lol! I may have to skimp. I’m so broken hearted. Truly the first palette blew me away.

    • Isabella Muse

sorry tami! It def compliments the other but this is considerably sheerer than the original and I, like you, love that original version! I guess they wanted to create something for more natural, sheerer looks with a formula that was good for dry, aging eyes and colors that compliment that issue! But I know what you mean, totally loved the pigment of the original!

  • Phyrra

It’s so disappointing that it’s more sheer. I do like that it’s cooler toned.

  • Tami

Oh no worries. It’s just hard to find great mattes, you know? The first “IT” palette is just so amazing. Part of me is still on the fence. I’m allowed 2 more smaller/midsize palettes or one giant one. (I doubt that will stay enforced, who am I fooling..lol!) I got plenty of others and it’s just out of control with me – I did get the Tarte one and I like it – in spite of all of the darker colors, I think it pulls through with it’s incredible range of mattes & most of those are on the lighter side. They apply so well. It’s a palette you can use as an “all in one” and yes, so hard to find eye shadows that compliment dry skin. Maybe I could so some sort of frankenstein mixing with these sheer mattes and some of the darker shades in other palettes. 😉 I’m on the fence about the Lorac Mega Pro – I feel like the only one. It’s a good price & nice palette….going to need rehab with eyeshadow by early next year. I want all of the palettes that have great mattes!!

    • Isabella Muse

absolutely agreed! it’s rare I love mattes 😀 haha good luck with that girl! tarte has a beautiful TSV upcoming that you might WANT 😀 so live room for that!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 lol! well, have fun, that’s all that matters!

      • Tami

Tarte has another one coming up!???? I just lit up! LOL! That is my brand right there..those shadows stay on allll day with me. No fade outs or alice cooper like smearing. Thanks for that info, I did not know that and I will be on the lookout! *hugs* 🙂

        • Isabella Muse

haha yes it does 😀 I have details upcoming tonight Tami, stay tuned! HUGS!

  • sandy

I’m so surprised that this wasn’t introduced by QVC. In fact, I haven’t really seen anything new on QVC for IT or Tarte…..but it’s still early…..and I’m new to collecting these palettes since last fall but it seems the holiday palettes are all coming out so early.

  • Linda

I love this palette; especially the cooler tones. I don’t find the colors to be sheer and they blend beautifully. I’m one happy girl! Love your reviews and look forward to them every day.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thank you Linda I’m so glad you enjoy the reviews and I’m super happy you’re loving this palette! 🙂

  • kellly

I wish these were twinkly! I love the colors but I’m over it on mattes.

  • majick

I have the first and it doesnt’ get the love it deserves. I definitely like the packaging on this one better. I think I’m going to have to dig it out of the archives and use it again to decide if I need #2. (I will probably need #2, it’s just how I roll LMAO)

  • Vicky

Do you know if this palette is limited edition? I’m thinking about purchasing this one but I would like more time after the holidays!

    • Dee

It’s showing on Ulta as Limited Edition. I went ahead and ordered as I just couldn’t wait to see if it would show up on QVC:)

  • Shannon

Thanks for the swatches and review… I’m eagerly awaiting arrival in stores. I’m glad to see cooler and more sheer shades. I haven’t quite gotten the knack of using ‘high-pigment’ stuff, I end up blending it all away to get subtle day-time I need. Almost makes me wish I’d skipped Vol 1 and waited for Celebration.

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure shannon let me know if you like when you see it in person 🙂

  • Kat

I wish the old colors were in the new packaging. The old packaging is so ugly!

  • Melissa

Used mine for the first time today, and I love it. You’ve done a great comparison here Muse with great pics as always. I have very fair skin, and these are plenty pigmented enough for me. Blend out great and feel silky on the eyes.

  • Ame

I wish they’d sell a shimmer palette AND that transforming pearl on it’s own. I don’t do mattes.

  • Genevieve

Sheerer colours like these are easier to wear in the summer months or during the day when you want a hint of colour. However, there are no greens in this palette – a shame.

  • Karena

Wow, I love the cooler shades and sheer colors – right up my alley. I’m not into intensely pigmented shadows anyway. You look so elegant and fresh with this shadow look, Muse!! Very nice!! Thanks for the excellent reviews. I may have to cave on this palette! The original had too many warm tones for me.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks dear! 🙂 you’re lovely to say so! I liked the original but than again I like warm shades 😀 these are def cooler 😀 let me know iwhat you think if you try!

  • Dee

This is the review I’ve been waiting for and you don’t disappoint! I will definitely get this. I love the first but need this one.

  • Courtney

Hi Muse!! I LOVE your reviews! Thanks for doing such a great job, I’m so torn!! I missed out on the lorac mega pro palette which breaks my heart. This palette looks amazing but I’m sad to hear everyone thinks they’re shearer 🙁 I’m not sure if I should dive in or not. I know you said they are buildible from what you said… What is your opinion? If you don’t mind me asking?

  • amelia

Hi Muse, is IT Cosmetics releasing any other holiday items this year? The only other thing I have seen is the lip gloss set. Was hoping you had the scoop! 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

They have this Celebrations Eyeshadow Palette and the lipgloss set Amelia and from my understanding there will be more than the gloss set but they haven’t released the info as of yet and told me it would be more towards the Holidays so I’d say November we’ll likely see more info 🙂

  • Cal

I have the it cosmetics naturally pretty palette vol. 1. I love it but have hit pan on sunrise and sunset. Do you know of any dupes for those two? I LOVE THEM but do not want to rebuy the palette just for two colors.

  • Ashley

Can Sugar Plum be purchased as a single or is there a good dupe for it? I loving that color!
