Guerlain Petrouchka Eyes & Blush Palette Review & Swatches
Guerlain Petrouchka Eyes & Blush Palette ($90) is a tasty (and expensive) little eyeshadow and blush palette that launches with the Guerlain A Night at the Opera Holiday 2014 Makeup Collection. If you love Guerlain I imagine the limited edition Petrouchka Eyes & Blush Palette will be put on your instant buy list.
Take a look!
The Guerlain Petrouchka Eyes & Blush Palette is a chic little five eyeshadow and four blush palette that’s practical yet packed full of elegant makeup! As you can see the compact is gold and shaped like many of the blush and highlighter palettes from years past like the Guerlain Rouge G Serie Noire and Guerlain Parure De Nuit Pressed Powder and Blush! But…there’s one small difference this palette contains not one tray of gorgeous makeup but two. I love that the compact is still the travel friendly size it’s always been yet now they house two wells of makeup inside not one. The palette come with a soft black velvet bag with red accents that can not only be used to stow away the compact but also includes and features a place to hold a blush brush and a double ended applicator. The palette itself is also decked out with a cute red ribbon band that slips off and on so it makes for a very nice Holiday display piece on your vanity.
Opening the palette will reveal a full size mirror and five warm shades of eyeshadow ranging from light champagne beige to dark bark brown on the first level. Under the shadows, on the second level of the palette you’ll find four blushes. I should warn you ahead of time that as soon as you open the palette the VERY DELIGHTFUL scent of violets hits you right in the face. It’s a scent that evokes Guerlain makeup to my nose and I swear if I was blindfolded and asked, “What does this smell like?” I’d instantly know what it is without being told ahead of time. If you like fragrance in your makeup you’ll likely adore but if you’re sensitive just be warned it is a highly fragranced makeup piece.

Guerlain Petrouchka Eyes & Blush Palette Swatches
The Guerlain Petrouchka Eyes & Blush Palette isn’t a compact filled with shades that do not work together. Every single shadow in this palette can be blended into multiple looks without having to over think things. The shades just work, blend, and apply well together which is a relief as too many times I get a palette and have to really think about how I can use the shades together. No problems at all here! All five eyeshadows will work beautifully alone or together. The shadows have a soft, easy to apply formula with excellent pigmentation and a good deal of frost but nothing that looks too shimmery or glittery. They apply and wear well and what you’d expect from a high end shadow formula.
The blushes are an oddity. They swatch terribly! Aside from the very bright coral shade the other colors barely show up on my arm. But oddly enough they look incredible on my face with an easy to blend formula and excellent pigmentation. I didn’t like the way they were situated in the palette though. There are two medium sized blush well and two small wells and honestly it’s very difficult to get a brush inside the pans because they are so small. I wish maybe that had done two blushes side by side, larger in size, because the two smallest ones are impossible to enjoy as it’s set up now.
Needless to say the Guerlain Petrouchka Eyes & Blush Palette is a unique collector’s makeup piece and well worth a purchase if you’re a Guerlain fan. Some might find the price too much to indulge which is understandable. Where as others, like myself, will enjoy the collector’s aspect of this compact! It’ll make a very beautiful gift for a makeup lover or, of course, for yourself.
