Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Stained Gloss

I’m new to the world of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Stained Gloss so be gentle with me. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Stained Gloss had a few shades that launched with the Dune Generation Summer 2014 Collection that tipped me over into purchasing a few shades.

The Lip Tar formula, as beloved as it is, scares me slightly so the Stained Gloss formula seemed like the best way to try out lip products from OCC for me! Especially since these promise a glossiness as well as color. I’m all about shiny, glossy glosses!

Let’s take a look!

The Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Stained Gloss formula is actually inspired by stain glass and lighting gels. The formula is suppose to deliver a translucent finish with pigmented color. You can layer them with Lip Tars or some of the Metallic shades that OCC offers or wear them alone for a lightweight glossy look.

I only tried them on their own but I’ll update as I start cocktailing them with other products!

OCC packages these up in a tiny tube with a lip brush for application. I happen to be one of those girl’s that tosses out lip brushes, I don’t really use ’em! I thought squeezing a little on my finger would be sufficient for application and it kinda sorta is but you might want to rethink tossing the lip brush as it is very handy! Squirting a small amount on the lip brush and applying is the best bet especially since the formula is a bit on the runny side and I felt like I had a little more control over the product with the brush in hand. I got two shades and both I was very, very happy with but there were a few minor quirks here and there.

The formula is very thin and runny but isn’t a mess to apply. They glide right on lips with a nice hydrating feel! Concubine I had some minor issues with though as it seemed to apply patchy and the shade fell into my natural lip lines so it didn’t look as smooth as I would have liked. This is fixable though as you have to take a little time smoothing the shade out with either your fingertip or the brush! It’s a minor quirk but it deserves mentioning. Nomad had no such problems and applied evenly and perfect. Both shades were nicely pigmented but Nomad, as dark as it is, needs at least two layers for an opaque finish as a single application is sheerer and my natural lip color shows through! Another layer fixes this problem easily enough. I find the shades apply at first very glossy and shiny which I love but the shine fades rather quickly at around the two hour mark and leaves behind a nice satiny stain which wears for about two more hours before fading. During the wear my lips felt fine so the product isn’t drying in the least. I find the texture is very thin and lightweight on without being tacky or sticky. The formula does have a cool peppermint flavor and fragrance which I found very pleasant.

All in all my first venture into the world of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Stained Gloss was a good one and I can see myself purchasing more shades! This lipgloss formula wears very nicely with a light feel and can be completely customized by adding more or less or mixing with other shades!

I love OCC lip tars! A little goes a long way, so the tube lasts forever and the lip primer makes all the difference. Glad you’re getting your feet wet–they look great on you as usual!

The original line of Stained Glosses they came out with were god awful. Complete waste of money. It definitely looks like they improved them!
