Tarte Kiss & Belle Lipsurgence Lip Set

The new Tarte Kiss & Belle Lipsurgence Lip Set is one of several limited edition sets that launched with the Tarte Holiday 2014 Collection. Tarte typically does a Lipsurgence every year and in most cases it includes five full size Lipsurgence Crayons but this year they went a little different with the Kiss & Belle Set as it not only includes mini size Lipsurgences but they also mixed things up by including lipgloss as well!

Take a look!

Tarte Kiss & Belle

I actually have an unhealthy obsession with lip crayons so the Tarte Kiss & Belle Lipsurgence Lip Set is a set I really love and it gets a Muse Approval from the get go. This contains six shades of Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Tints in two finishes and two Lipsurgence Lipglosses. Considering Tarte recently revamped their Lipsurgence Lipgloss formula and packaging this is a nice way to either get a few new shades or to finally try out the gloss if you haven’t already!

The four regular Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Tints are Dreamy (cool raspberry), Alluring (mauve), Innocent (warm nude), and Dainty (pink). These are 0.06 oz in size and have a swivel up design that doesn’t require a sharpener. This is the original Lipsurgence formula which has a cool minty flavor and fragrance and a light, thin texture with beautiful true to tube color. This is my favorite Lipsurgence formula as it’s lightly hydrating with a subtle balmy texture and a high sheen finish that provides gorgeous color to my lips! They wear for about three to four hours on my lips with a comfortable lightweight moistness.

The set also includes two Tarte Lipsurgence Matte Lip Tints in Eternal (pinky nude) and Fancy (plum berry). These also weight in at 0.06 oz in size with a swivel up pen design that does not require a sharpener and has the same mint flavor and fragrance as the original Lipsurgence formula. I find these have a thicker, creamy texture that apply with an easy glide and a wear of around four hours. The colors in this set and all the colors I’ve tried in the past in the Matte formula have always had a strong, long wear without migrating or feathering and a smooth, matte finish that isn’t drying with excellent pigmentation.

As I mentioned above what makes this set new and different is the addition of two Lipsurgence Lipglosses in Kiss (light pink) and Belle (raspberry). These weight in at 0.05 oz and feature a sponge applicator. You get two finishes here with different degrees of pigment. Belle is a cream finish without shimmer or sparkle and provides the most pigment of the two colors with a slightly tacky texture and a comfortable wear of around four hours. Kiss is the more sheerer shade and has plenty of sparkle but not as much pigment. This is a pretty golden pink with a gold sparkle finish. The nice thing about Kiss is it works great on top of any of the Lipsurgence Lip Tints to add shine and sparkle! Both have a subtle vanilla taste and flavor but nothing too overpowering so sensitive users shouldn’t have an issue with this formula!

Tarte Kiss & Belle Gift Set

You might find the Tarte Kiss & Belle Lipsurgence Lip Set lacks variety in terms of color as this set focuses on berries, roses, and pinks and if that isn’t really a range of colors you enjoy you might not love the set! However, those who adore shades like this (me!) will really love this set as it offers a variety of great Lipsurgence Lip Tints in different finishes as well as a gloss option too. This is different for Tarte and makes for a gift set that isn’t repetitive as year’s pass and also offers plenty of variety for those that want gloss as well as lip crayons.

My “Alluring” Lipsurgence says “matte” on it, too! I wonder if it was supposed to be, or if it’s just an error.

Gah! Why oh why did I read this review?! I had somehow convinced myself I did not need this set. I was only going buy 2 Tarte holiday sets this year (that limit was reached weeks ago). I think drooled on the computer screen. My credit card weeps.

I love the idea of a set of minis 😀 I never finish products anyway. These all look lovely.

I have been debating on getting this set. I was watching some YouTube videos on the new Tarte products and one of them said there will be just a lipgloss set coming out from Tarte. That might interest me more. Have you heard that or know anything about it? I’m very curious and excited. Also heard Qvc has a Tarte tsv coming out in November and I watched a video of that Tarte had on Facebook today. That set looks wonderful! Too many holiday makeup sets I want to get this year 🙂

Sometimes I feel like your lip swatches are all photoshopped and the colors are modified. I’m always amazed by the consistency of the pose. Lovely colors!
