About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I want this!! I heard his lipsticks are the best that money can buy. Worth the investment.

The packaging is phenomenally pretty, but I find the formula to be a miss for me, actually. But I know this is the minority opinion!

Maybe I am insane, but isn’t the point of sets to pay less for something valued at more? Are these shades exclusive? I just did the math, and at 50 a pop for lippies, and 32 a pop for polishes, there is no saved value here and potentially some shades a person might not adore as much as picking everything out individually.

Oh, Temptalia posted about the set that’s just lipsticks. Apparently, you’re paying $40 for the PACKAGING, since you could buy every single lipstick included in the set and pay less than you would buying them as a set.

I honestly don’t understand Tom Ford’s sets. They just don’t seem curated very well, IMO. I think the brand would do better to do “themed” sets, like warm-tones, cool-tones, brights, neutrals, etc. Just about every set I’ve seen has shades that are spread so far across the spectrum that I doubt they ALL look attractive on any one person. And I’m sorry, but if I’m spending several hundred dollars on a set of cosmetics, it had better ALL look good and be usable.

I was all like “Oh, what a lovely set for Christmas!!” thinking it would be around 200 bucks. At 656 dollars I want to punch Tom Ford in the nose. And whoever helps him with his brand. IN. THE. NOSE.

I just saw the NARS set of 10 lippies and 10 nail colors, and said out loud, “oh what, for like $500?” So I went to the site – well, I would be a winner on the price is right.

In my opionion, these prices are WAY wrong and I hope Tom eats them. (Francois too for that matter – expecially when there are PLENTY of really nice cosmetics out there for a song. (ok and maybe a medley for the really good ones LOL). but not the entire musical, c’mon.
