Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Devil’s Night 2014 Review

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Devil’s Night

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Devils Night Perfume Oil is a limited edition oil released with the Halloweenies 2014 Collection. I actually it’s kinda a re-release as it’s made an appearance quite often for Halloween!

Devil’s Night is a reference to October 30th, the night before Halloween, a night of mischievous behavior!

I have a few bottles of Devil’s Night in my BPAL stash and from year to year it seems to have changed considerably. I remember my 2005ish or 2006ish had a candy corn-like note…..perhaps I was imaging things but to me it smelled of such!

The lab calls it the scent of scent of autumn night, fires in the distance, with a touch of boozy swoon, playful sugar and thuggish musk. That’s actually spot on for what you’re getting. In the bottle it has a sweet liquor-like note. On my skin wet, it’s dried leaves, smoke, and the bite of wind, ozone….as it dries down a certain sweetness creeps into the smokiness and about 30 minutes into the set you’ll find it goes a bit caramelized sugar and smoke on skin.

I don’t particularly like it. It’s a bit too musky for me. It’s a funny thing as I had better versions of the oil from several years ago that were sweet, less smoky, less musky which I liked. But 2014’s version just wasn’t to my liking.

That isn’t to say you won’t love it. It’s a complex, sultry fragrance! Don’t let the smokiness I describe warn you away….think of it was a long walk through your neighborhood on a cool Fall night, your feet crunching on leaves and bringing their earthy note to your nose as you walk. This is what Devil’s Night smells like.

It’s available now at blackphoenixalchemylab.com.

I purchased this item.
