Revlon Luxe Creme Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Revlon Luxe Creme Eyeshadow

This Revlon Luxe Creme Eyeshadow is a limited edition Fall 2014 cream eyeshadow that launched with the Revlon Boho Chic Collection. It’s an intriguing shadow to include in the collection as one wonders if at some point Revlon will release a full line of Luxe Cream Eyeshadows say for Spring 2015!? It could happen right?

I paid $11.99 for my Revlon Luxe Creme Eyeshadow at Walgreens and after I headed to my therapist to have my head examined. Who in their right mind, after all, pays $12 for drugstore eyeshadow? Oh I know…I DO!

Idiot.

The texture of this is a gel-like powder that has a squishy yet firm texture reminiscent of the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush texture or even somewhat like the MAC Pressed Pigments.

The shade is a blackened emerald green with a good deal of glitter. This isn’t a shadow you can apply easily with a brush so you do need to use fingers for the best application and even with fingers things can get very messy. This applies as a semi-matte darkened black green which isn’t terribly flattering on my finely lined, drier eyes. Even if the color applied well, which it doesn’t, I think the shade is a little bit of a pain to get looking right. Personally I applied it and instantly it goes on patchy, uneven, and has major fall out issues. The texture is very thin with a silky creamy consistency but it still manages to not adhere well to eyes and ends up having a good deal of glittery fall out on cheeks and eyes. I find the color sheers out quickly as I apply and ends up looking crazy patchy and uneven in finish. Funny as it looks like I applied my eye makeup with the lights off, it’s that much of a hot mess!

It does in fact crease fairly quickly with or without primer (as you likely guessed already)….! I was thinking MAYBE if the shade was a little lighter I wouldn’t have had such issues with the formula…honestly, if Revlon does a permanent range of these for Spring 2015 I’d be curious to try another shade and see what happens!

But this one?

It’s a mess.

Revlon Luxe Creme Eyeshadow is available now, for a limited time, in the Boho Chic Collection for Fall 2014 at drugstores.

I have tried this on the recommendation of a popular youtube beauty blogger – I had the same experience as you, Muse. It creased like crazy! A thin layer was super patchy – and the more I applied (to get rid of the patchy-ness), the worse it creased. The color wore off in less than an hour. Disappointing for sure!

ugh was the worst right? I wonder if they introduced a few lighter shades if it would be better? I’m surprised anyone recommended it. Formula just seems crummy as hell!

Glad I never found this. I was trying to find it after a popular Youtube beauty blogger recommended it too.

maybe if it’s on sale give it a go otherwise no! just too much of a hassle!

Another vote for bought this based off a recommendation and it’s gross. It literally creased off my eyeballs during the 15 minute car ride home. Ugh. It feels sort of ridiculous to return a 7.99 item but come on Revlon. I guess it’ll collect dust until I eventually throw it away. This is why I hesitate to buy drugstore products-no testers!

Revlon knocks it out of the ball park with every other item the make.. why can’t they get their act together for a cream shadow?!?!

I saw this yesterday when I was at Walgreens and for some reason I just was turned off by it. I think it is because I already have so many black sparkle eyeshadows, but who knows.

Glad my gut feeling led me right 🙂

I used this and the Milani one which is pretty similar and set it with a powder shadow. that helped to stop the creasing…

ive actually had great luck with this shadow and i like it quite a bit. its meant to be a super sheer wash of color with a bit of glitter. or you can apply it over shadows, which is what i tend to do with it most of the time. im not sure what primer you are using, but i use nars pro prime and it doesnt crease with that. i also apply it with a mac 242, a real techniques brush as well as my fingers, depending on the application that im wanting for it. you definitely do not need much of this product, nor is it meant to be applied very thickly on the lids. im not sure if ive been successful with this product because im a makeup artist, and so using it came easy for me…but i truly didnt find it that much of a challenge or that terrible either.

Everyone’s skin and preferences are different, but I can’t get enough of the Revlon Luxe Cream. I can make it light, dark, or in between! I get tons of compliments and it’s very versatile. Love you Revlon!!
