I should this review by saying Sephora makes some of the nicest makeup brushes I’ve had the pleasure of owning and using. There full size makeup brushes are as good if not in some cases better than MAC Makeup Brushes. Yes, I did just say that! I have many of their brushes and they have served me well for years! The bristles are incredible, the handles sturdy, and they apply makeup like a champ.

I was excited about a new luxurious collection of accessories and makeup brushes done by Alexis Bittar. I have several of his jewelry pieces which I adore to death so I expected great things from his collaborated collection with Sephora.

The Sephora Alexis Bittar Liquid Gold Beauty Brush & Travel Wrap is a two piece set which features a short handled powder brush as well as a black velvet brush roll. The brush is stunning. It has a heavy transparent handle with a gold accent towards the base. The brush feels like an old Victorian piece. It’s quite heavy and will make a beautiful vanity piece. The travel clutch has room for two brushes as well as a zippered enclosure that you can tuck a powder, blush, and lipgloss in. If you want this set travels easily.

I think the both the brush and the brush case are truly luxurious pieces. The brush is incredibly well made and has a very high end look and feel. Unfortunately, I was somewhat shocked that the bristles weren’t as great as the regular Sephora permanent brushes. The brush shed a good deal and I find the bristles towards the base were splitting outwards. I also didn’t feel the bristles were as soft as I’ve seen from Sephora’s permanent line.

I think Alexis did a brilliant job with the creation of the brush. It’s truly a high end beautiful piece however, something did get lost in translation with the bristles on this brush. If you do purchase it I would suggest using it as a vanity piece but not necessarily travel with it as it does shed a good deal and it seems like the bristles easily split.
