Tarte Sweet Indulgence's 3 in 1 Holiday Gift

Crazy amount of makeup there isn’t it?

The Tarte Sweet Indulgence’s 3 in 1 Holiday Gift Set comes housed in a gift box that includes three removable sleeve which contain the makeup. Each sleeve is a gift box itself and flips open to reveal three different sets of makeup. The first box contains two eyeshadow palettes that contain eight shadows each, the 2nd sleeves contains blush and lip products, and the third houses your liners and mascara. If you want you can take a palette each, one blush, mascara, and eyeliner and create two different gifts or you can gift each of the boxes away as three different gifts just the way they are. But let’s be honest, at this price, we can afford to give a friend the entire set or keep it all for ourselves.

Two full size Tarte Blushes would cost you $52 so for $8 bucks more you not only get two blushes but also 16 eyeshadows, three eyeliners, two full size mascaras, and three full size lip products. No matter how you do the math this is a killer deal.

Now for the fun part….

If you love the set and want MORE you can order it on QVC Auto Delivery. This means you’ll get two more sets over the course of the next year which will include new seasonal shades in the same gift set for the same low price. You’ll pay for each set WHEN IT ships (not before) and you can expect brand new colors and possibly new items in each of the two shipments (more info to follow on what will be included in those next shipments, stay tuned).

I really love that Tarte went a little smaller this year with the palette. Instead of getting one larger palettes with the 16 shades they broke it down into two smaller, easier to travel with palettes that contain eight shades each. Each palette is made from a sturdy cardboard with a magnetic closure. You get a good deal of both warm and cooler shades in the palettes in a variety of matte, satin, and shimmer finishes. I think it’s safe to say the cool vs warm aspect is split right down the middle so you’ll look at a nice variety of colors from soft browns and beige, plums, dusky pinks, and taupes. The mattes are soft and silky and the satin and shimmer shades have a thin, buttery texture that applies easily. I only had an issue with one shade which was Cinnamon Latte, it was drier than the other shades and applied patchy. Aside from that all the other shades were soft, silky, and Tarte’s typical shadow formula. I do wish the colors were set up in a way that inspire me to create looks. They seemed a little mismatched together…I kinda wish they had paired them up or even set them up in quads that went well together. I just felt like the colors were a little mismatched so you do have to use a little imagination to pair up and contrast the colors. Tarte includes a card with directions to create two different looks using the palettes and the contents of the entire set with easy to follow steps.

The two exclusive shades of Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Pampered and Savored are likely the most exciting part of the gift set for me and I’m sure many of you. I love Tarte Blush so these are a welcome edition to my collection. Pampered is described as a soft melon but it’s more of warm orange-y peach. This had a drier texture and felt a little chalky but it applied very well. Savored is described as a golden rose but it almost has a plummy rose element to it in the pan. It applies as a bronze-y rose on my cheeks. This also had a very stiff texture and the initial layer was really dense! My brush would not pick up color at all so I ended up using a kabuki to break it down. After a few swirls the texture loosens up a good deal. It applies with a really pretty glow but the density proves challenging to work with at times so you need a little patient. Both shades wore for a solid 12 hours before I removed them without fading.

Tarte includes Indulging Lipsurgence Lipgloss in this set which is a pretty bright rose that provides a nice tint of sheer color with a minty taste and fragrance. The formula is slightly tacky yet lightweight and comfortable. It wears for about for hours with a nice glossiness and a bit of pretty color. The Lipsurgence Lip Creme is actually a formula exclusive to QVC you get two, full size exclusive shades with this gift set. The texture reminds me of Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick or the original Tarte Matte Lipt Tints as it’s very creamy, very pigmented, and has a creamy matte finish. It’s quite a heavy texture but has a really rich, creamy texture that glides onto lips with tugging and wears very comfortable for a few hours

It may seem excessive to some but I’m happy they included two full size Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascaras in this set as it’s something I use daily. I love this mascara! It’s easy to remove, wears well without smudging or flaking, and happens to be one of the few mascaras that actually gives my lashes nice length and good volume! Yay!

Unfortunately I did not like the Tarte Eyeliners in this set. They weren’t as creamy as Tarte’s regular range of eyeliners and felt more like a drier, denser version of the liners from the Tarte Eye Opening Holiday Eyeliner Set. The liners had fairly good pigment but on my drier eyes they tugged a good deal during application and didn’t smudge easily. I’m so spoiled with the creamier, slicker texture of the SmolderEYES Eyeliner that these felt too dense and too dry in comparison.

If you’re comparing the Tarte Sweet Indulgence’s 3 in 1 Holiday Gift Set to last year’s Bow & Go Gift Set this year you’re getting a bit more variety as the original set did not include blushes. Last year’s set included 24 items and this year you’re getting 26!

There’s really no denying the Tarte Sweet Indulgence’s 3 in 1 Holiday Gift Set is truly a steal and will make a beautiful gift. I had a few hiccups with the blushes and the eyeliners just weren’t great for me but everything else was a go. It’s a nice selection of Tarte for those who love the brand and will make a great introduction for those who never tried it.

Stay tuned Monday I’ll have lip swatches and an FOTD using the set!

It launches November 10th on QVC.com!

Will you be purchasing it?

I liked this set overall, but I had major issues with all the shimmer shades in the eye palettes. They seemed poorly pigmented, became muddy when blended, and faded over the course of the day. I think I’m going to de-pot the mattes and chuck the rest. The eyeliners will probably also go in the trash. But loved the lip products, the mascara, and the pampered blush.

  • Pam

    Hi Muse,
I loved your review and pics, but I’m still on the fence due to the blush colors and one lip color. I wonder if you’d consider adding pics of you wearing the blush and lip colors. It always helps me get a better feel for products when I see you wearing them. Many thanks for all of your amazing reviews!

    • Isabella Muse

hi pam mentioned in the review I’d be doing lip swatches/fotd shortly! sorry for the delay, hope this helps!

  • Monica

I have Tarte’s set from last year that was available at Sephora. The only colors in that I have an issue with the texture and fallout is the blue shades. At first I didn’t like the Amazonian Clay blushes but now that I ran out, I’m missing it! The only thing I don’t like about a lot of these high end makeup palettes is that they’re Made in China (I just got the Lorac Royals at Kohl’s and same thing). Do you know why this is Muse? Honestly it disappoints me because a lot of drugstore brands are made here or in Europe.

  • Natalie

Absolutely!!!! I missed out on the bow and go set last year, I won’t let that happen again 🙂
Thank you for the heads up!

  • Trang

Great review! I already ordered it and cant wait to get it! How do u think it compares to the big tarte sets out in sephora and ulta? I usually get all three but this year i chose only the qvc one.

    • Tami

If you are new to Tarte and want a bit of everything, I voted the QVC being the best of the bunch. Especially for the value. I did get the sephora + ulta kits b/c I’m a tartaholic (though tiring of the neutrals right now) – I doubled up on their mini blush set and lip set as well b/c I’m just “that” stupid over tarte. BUT after seeing this close up (Love Muse’s showings & write ups), I definitely think this is one to get if you don’t have much by them & want to try them out. You get a bit of everything I like how the shadow palettes are broken up and seem to have a good mix of dark/light colors. Just my take since I do have the other kits.

      • Isabella Muse

excellent reply tami 🙂 could have said it better myself 🙂 (thank you by the way for the sweet comment)

  • melissa

wow – truely a great value. I adore the blushes, lippies, and the mascara so everything else would be “bonus”. Since I skipped the IT one after all, This shall be mine! Thank you for the detailed review.

  • Penny

There are a lot of Tarte products that I just love, so, chances are I will purchase this set! I can already tell that the Eyeliners will be the one thing I do not use… 🙁 I wish they were the Smolder Eyes instead! But overall, this is a great value! ♥

    • Isabella Muse

agreed I wish they were the chunky smolder eyes that can double up as shadow!

  • JessicaDiMaggio

I ordered this last month and I love it! But my auto delivery plan only shows one more delivery, in May. Are there definitely 2? I might need to call and have them fix that!

  • Suki

I was just on the QVC website because I wanted to purchase this, but it’s showing that it’s $72.50 now. :'(

    • Isabella Muse

it debuted at 12am est for the price I mentioned in this post Suki and will be that price until 12am est tomorrow.

  • Cindy

Wow, so much better than the Bon Voyage Collector’s set and it’s the same price! I liked last year’s set with the travel bag better. But this is a much better value than this’ year’s Bon Voyage set. I think a purchase will have to happen . . .

  • Angel

Ugh, why did you tempt me? I didn’t think too much about this set until I saw your eyeshadow swatches. They’re so pretty. It’s a damn shame about those eyeliners because I love the colors! Especially the plum.

On a side note, ummmm, there’s more Monoi stuff on HSN today!! Not sure if you got your order yet and if you even like the scent, but they added a shower milk cleanser and a body tonic spray! The shower milk is only $14.95 so I’m going to try it out 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

I liked the colors too! I imagine if your eyes are oily you might not mind the drier texture…unfortunately I’m all dry ALL the time and these tug during application! I KNOW they had a mega size…! UGH NEED! 😀

      • Tami

I agree on that..I have dry eyes (dry skin), but I use a tad of my face oil on my lids (a “tad”) – I liken this to being like wetting them. I do use primer too but it seems the shadows glide on after this and of course primer helps with overall longevity.

  • Kimberly

I’m going to have to go back & check the exact colors to be sure, but I got this from QVC (with auto-delivery) almost a month ago back in October. I hope it is the same and the one I have is not old. (It’s definitely not from holiday 2013, which I have from last year too.). I’m confused because I can’t think of any reason I would have had access to anything earlier than the general public.

On another Tarte note, I went to Sephora last night specifically to get the Ciate Manor (advent calendar really) and the Benefit Ckeeky Box of Bludges using my 20% off code! but the Benefit Blush Box set was on a display right next to the Tarte Holiday Blush Compact (which of course matches this year’s holiday decor for Tarte and walked out with the Tarte one instead (at the behest of at least 6 Seohora associates. Hope I made a good choice!

Now tempted by the Tarte lipgloss set on QVC! Wish I didn’t have so many other bills!

  • Elizabeth S.

Do the two lip pencils have mirrors on the tops of the caps? I see a reflection and was just curious.

  • Kristy

Hi there! I was just checking this tarte set on QVC and am torn about whether or not to get it. The eyeshadows look pretty, as well as the lip colors. But those eyeliners remind me of the one I got in a previous tarte pallette. It was the weirdest eyeliner, I hated it! And the blushes, do you think those particular ones are worth buying? Thanks!!

  • Majick

I have to say your swatches are much more inspiring than the u-tube video I just watched. I have so many Tarte products that aren’t getting love right now that I think I can pass on this set.

THat said, if someone is new to the brand or just doesn’t have a ton of eye colors, blushes, and lippies, this really is a steal of a deal.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks I think haha 😀 I agree, it’s a great deal for someone really new to the brand!

      • Majick

Your swatches were more “true to color” somehow. It was like they had a green/yellow filter on and all the colors looked muddy.
and, I just like you. LMAO

  • JoElla

I caved and bought it. I almost wanted to see if they release the shadow palettes like last year, but threw caution to the wind, and looking forward to trying the blushes.

I just wish the liners were decent. I am really bummed about that.

    • Isabella Muse

maybe you’ll get lucky and love them Jo!? 😀 ya never know. let me know what you think when it arrives!
