Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipsticka

Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick is a new permanent range of tinted lip butters launching for Spring 2015 in twelve skin tone flattering shades. Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick actually takes the guess work out of finding your perfect shade of lip color by creating skin tone complimenting shades. Each of the twelve shades is broken into three skin tone groups of light, light medium, and dark and each selection includes a berry, pink, nude, and red that would be most suitable for your skin tone. Pretty nifty if you’re shy about trying shades that you might feel aren’t suitable for your skin tone.

As for me? I just love all the shades in the Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick and I’m not busy limiting myself to any one shade that suits my skin tone. I like living dangerously haha….!

Needless to say there are two items I obsess about in the lip world and that would be chubby lip pencils and tinted lip balms and butters! Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick fits the bill for tinted lip butter.

Do like!

Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick ($6.99) are a buttery tinted lipstick or lip balm or lip butter if you will. These aren’t a traditional lipstick by any means as they have a very nice hydrating, balmy texture. They aren’t as creamy nor as pigmented as Revlon Lip Butter but are more pigmented, moisturizing, and thicker than L’Oreal Color Riche Balm if you wish to reference formula. The hybrid formula has the consistency of a buttery lip balm with a pigment that varies from shade to shade as I find some colors apply sheer where as others apply opaque so pigment does vary. Very few shades are sheer though so expect a nice deal of color here. Possibly the nicest thing about the formula is the melty consistency.

These start out dense but after the initial layer wears away you’ll find a richer melty balm that glides onto lips and leaves behind color, a high sheen, and a hydrating finish. These wear comfortably on my lips for about four hours with the lighter shades at around three. They remain pleasantly moist through the wear and feel very soothing on my drier lips without clinging to drier areas or falling into my natural lip lines. They have absolutely no fragrance or flavor and for those interested they are made within the USA.

I think the nicest thing about the shades that released with the collection is the fact they’ll look differently on everyone depending on how pigmented your natural lip color is. I personally have pigmented lips and found the shades enhanced my natural lip color. Those with less pigmented lips will also find that the colors apply more opaquely and look richer. So they’ll pretty much look differently on everyone depending on your natural lip color and skin tone.

I’m a mush for lip butter as I tend not to reapply my lipstick and gloss when it wears away. I love keeping balm stashed in my desk drawer for easy touch ups. These new Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick are the perfect way to get moisture and beautiful color on my lips easily. Really loving this formula!

I BET you can’t just pick up one shade.

I’d recommend checking these out. A fabulous little budget tinted lipstick with a great formula!

I haven’t seen these yet but need to find them based on your swatches. The Red in light and medium look great on you! I don’t wear red much but will give these a go.

I quite agree, Muse! Drugstore.com delivered mine this week, and I love the color and the consistency…not drying at all. These are a sweet little bargain!

WOW, These are gorgeous. I love me some lip butters during the Winter months to keep my lips hydrated. Too bad we have to wait for 2015 to get these. Thanks Muse. Love the Medium shades for my Olive skin tone!!

You are preaching to the choir! I adore the colored balms and butters and chubby hippies like tarte’s lipsurgence. I will definitely check these out. I would probably stick with the light because I’m super fair and some shades are just naturally a bit much for me. They all look gorgeous though!

I love that they categorized them into different skin tones! Dang, all of them look good on you. I don’t know which to pick when I see them in the drugstores. I am very tempted by your swatches. Good thing they do not have any taste or scent. The one thing that can steer me away from lip products are overly scented ones despite the beautiful colors.

hey tina, thanks girl 🙂 The darker shades, imho, are the nicest and most opaque but I have to admit ALL are beautiful 😀

Nice curious to try these! Like how they are colorized by your skin tone. Makes shopping for drugstore makeup much easier.

Hmn. I’m not very excited about these. Unless it’s a basic lip balm (e.g. Nivea, chapstick) I want more color but I might pick up a shade or two. Maybe on a whim if I need to qualify for free shipping on drugstore.com or something.

I’m so jealous you found these. I love just about all the colors, but I could pass on the pinks. I want all the reds and the berries, though. It’s going to be hard to just pick one or two!

I finally found a display at Bed Bath & Beyond. Sadly the Medium Red was gone, but I picked up a berry medium, nude light-medium and a red light-medium. Love them all! They feel great and are so pretty.

Muse, I just wanted to share I wore the berry-light to my work Holiday Gala last night and I swiped it on around 4pm before I left for the hour drive.. and touched up a few times through the night… my last swipe was probably around 9pm… My lips were still stained with the berry tone when I woke up at 10am this morning… (yeah late night.. hehehehe) Obviously no shine or dewy look as when you first swipe but my lips were still clearly the berry tone vs my natural lip. So I just wanted to share my latest experience with these. They pack some mighty pigment that lingers ladies! Clearly we all need to stock up!!!

I have dark skin and bought the Nude Light one, which is indeed nude on me. The big selling point for me was the smell–cocoa butter! The main thing that turns me off of lipstick is the fragrance, because I have allergies and find that inhaling perfume all day is irritating. I loved this lip butter so much that I went back to buy the Red Medium one. On me this is a dark berry red, as my natural lip colour is darker. I LOVE them! Very moisturizing, wear well–as others have said they lasted for hours.

Hi…your blog came up when I googled this lipstick. I picked one up a couple of days ago in light/medium berry and love it. This is a super product imho and at age 64 I have to be very fussy because of lines around my mouth. I’m definately picking up the others in my light/medium range as well as the berry in a darker range. Great blog and I look forward to reading it from now on.
