Covergirl Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus All Day Eye Pencil Review & Swatches

Covergirl Ink It By Perfect Point

Covergirl Ink It! All Day Eye Pencil in Violet Ink is one of two new shades for Spring 2015 that recently launched with the new Covergirl Eyeshadow Quads I review a few days ago. I actually never tried the Covergirl Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus All Day Eye Pencil formula and since I was looking for a deep shade of purple eyeliner I decided to purchase Violet Ink.

Let’s take a look!

Covergirl Ink It Eyeliner

Covergirl Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus All Day Eye Pencil actually gets some raving reviews on makeup boards so I was quite excited to give it a try. I haven’t tried any of the permanent colors though that were reviewed on this boards so I suspect maybe those shades are great however, the Violet Ink shade I got wasn’t so great.

This is a simple retractable pencil with a flat head for application (if you prefer a precise point you might be disappointed with the flat head). I think oily eyes might appreciate this dense, drier texture but personally I hated it. The drier texture drags during application and the intensity of the pigment isn’t all that great. I can’t use such a dense texture on my waterline as it’s almost painful to apply it. I have drier eyes so I prefer more creamier texture pencils like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils. Unfortunately, this drier texture just drags across my lids. The color isn’t at all vibrant and has a faded out appearance swatched and applied on my lash line. I find it difficult to smudge this texture as well as once it sets, it sets.

That’s actually part of the good news! It wears very well and likely will wear well for oily lids as this sets to a very dry, long wearing finish.

Unfortunately, Covergirl Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus All Day Eye Pencil isn’t really what I’m looking for in an eyeliner pencil. But some folks can appreciate a drier, denser eyeliner and in that case you might love this.

I wouldn’t recommend it though. I’m hoping this color is a fluke! Maybe other shades have better performance but Violet Ink is one I’d skip. There are far nicer eyeliners such as L’Oreal’s Silkissime at the drugstore for around the same price!

Aw, I quite liked the color, too bad it doesn’t perform too well.

I tried this when it first came out and felt the same way. I can’t stand eyeliners that tug on my eyelid! The best automatic pencil I’ve ever used is Avon Glimmersticks Liqui-Glide. It is so creamy that I can apply it with very light pressure and still get a smooth dark line. I’m not that good at eyeliner application but this is so easy to use even for me.

I have crazy oily lids that nothing stays on, so I might actually try these! I want drier – UDs 24/7 are totally useless for me, so thanks for highlighting that it might be good for those of us in the oily lids crowd – everytime I hear “creamy” I assume it will be a fail for me!

you MIGHT love this skyrat! I always assume everyone is in the drier eye boat as I am and I can understand 24/7 being too creamy for oily lids so Covergirl, ya know, the drier texture might just do you well!
