L'Oreal Smokissime

The L’Oreal Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen is a new permanent smoky eye pencil launching with the L’Oreal Spring 2015 Makeup Collection in four different shades. Smoky eyes always seem a heck of a lot more complicated than they should be but the L’Oreal Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen makes life easier by creating a smoky eye with a quick stroke and a blend out.

Sounds to good to be true?

It isn’t!

I’ll start by saying I love the L’Oreal Silkissime Eyeliners so when L’Oreal launched their new Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen at Harmons I quickly purchased one to try out.

L'Oreal Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen

The L’Oreal Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen isn’t quite an eyeliner as it is a powder. It comes housed in a chubby pen which has a smudger sponge for application. The sponge is slightly pointed and has eyeshadow or eyeliner powder (which ever you want to call it) that’s located inside the cap. When you replace the cap the sponge becomes saturated with the powder so with each use, when you want to reload the sponge, simply put the cap back on and more powder gets loaded onto the sponge.

To apply, you simply swipe the sponge on your lash line and you can blend upwards with the sponge. I find the sponge tugs (you can see some of the dragging issues in my swatch above) a little bit so blending out with the pad of your finger, a q-tip, or a fluffy brush helps a little. The effect you’re going for is a bolder brown (in this case brown as I choose the Brown Smoke color) on your lash line with a smooth, lighter shade of brown blended upwards onto your lid. It’s really a no nonsense way to achieve a smoky eye although it is a little messy as I got a bit of fall out during the application on my cheeks and below the sockets of my eyes but it cleaned up easy enough.

The color is marketed to wear for 14 hours and I got around 10 hours in without primer on my drier eyes before I saw some creasing but the color remained intense through the wear. Brown Smoke is a rich, dark bark shade and has excellent pigment on the initial application and builds easily for more intensity but honestly it’s already fairly intense on the first layer so no need to build too much.

Honestly, L’Oreal Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen is probably one of the best and easiest ways to get a smoky eye look with very little effort. I can see myself using something like this often to create dramatic eye looks in seconds. I mean this is a simple swipe, blend out a little, and go method. You just need to add your own eyeliner and mascara and you have an awesome eye look in seconds!

I just tried this for the first time yesterday and it’s pretty cool. I picked up the Taupe color.. I completely agree with your review! A little fall out but easily cleaned up. My only grip is that I got the taupe color and it just wasn’t the shade I was expecting.. I found it to be more grayish than I like. But still a pretty color and it will still get a lot of use because I could never master the smokey eye before and now this is like smokey eyes 101 for dummies 🙂 (in a good way!)

i didn’t get the taupe I did get the black lacy but now I kinda want the purple..wonder how it is ;-D I agree it really is smokey eye 101 for dummies heh 😀

      • Lacy

Yes I think I’m going to grab the purple as well.. I hope it’s more of a darker shade of purple 🙂 PS I just receive a Sephora email about the MUFE Fifty Shades of Gray collection launching online only and avail to Rouge’s right now. It’s the big box set, I was going to order it but I’m on the fence.. it’s 79 but I think we’d be getting bang for our buck because it seems like the items are all full size except maybe the shadow palette… I def want to check out the blush palette from the collection but it’s not on the site yet. 🙂

Oh I know I wrote about it 😀 believe you commented in that post too! hehe! I ordered it I couldn’t resist…! like I need more makeup ugh!

  • Melanie

Wow this shade looks amazing on you!! Just when I tell myself no more makeup purchases ….I will be keeping and eye out for this

  • Fancie

The applicator looks like it’ll take some getting used to but I’m loving that color! It’s so perfect!

  • Melissa

Avon used to have something like this in all kinds of pretty colors and I loved them! Elf has something similar but the packaging is pretty cheap and the lids can break when you screw it on. But I can’t wait to try this one. I love something like this for the lower lash line. I don’t wear eyeliner much so this adds a little something without the mess of liquid eyeliner I think!

  • lena

Wow!!! I actually LOVE how that looks on you. Compliments your eyes beautifully Muse! xoxox

  • Sandy

This looks great on you……very nice smokey eye. What eyeliner did you use for the waterline and what is the longest lasting liner for that? Thanks

  • Melissa

I must try this! I can’t do a good smoky look so this should do it. And it comes in other colors. Where did you find it? I think I want brown & purple 🙂

      • Melissa

I have not heard of that store. I checked walgreens, and Walmart today no such luck. Can’t wait till it’s out I really want to give this a try.

  • Anna Fantasia

This brown really pops your eyes! You’re beautiful in every color, but this one made me do a back-scroll! So I purchased the taupe and the brown because of your review. Will try them out tomorrow. I’m debating the black. Did I read correctly that you got the black? Would you mind reviewing it soon as i’m on the fence. Can’t find the purple anywhere- I’ve been to 6 Walgreens all tonight… so either some purple crazed lady is buying every last one of them or my area isn’t receiving that color. Thanks Muse. Happy Holidays!

    • Isabella Muse

oh wow thanks Anna you’re too kind 🙂 let me know how you do with them! I actually did get the black but didn’t try it yet! I’ll do a review shortly! haha…! it’s possible, people seem to really LOVE purple 😀 happy Holidays to you Anna! I hope to hear your thoughts on these soon! I’ll get on that black shortly!
