Mally The Fragrance Review
I picked up Mally the Fragrance during the 30% Off on Mally Beauty purchases last week. I’ve wanted to try Mally’s first perfume ever for a long time but QVC was only carrying a duo of the perfume and I was a little scared to indulge.
Some people are a little scared of going into a fragrance purchase blindfolded and unfortunately buying something like Mally the Fragrance online was indeed a blindfolded purchase for me. I can’t say I haven’t purchased fragrances like this before because I have! I’m brave like that or really stupid haha…!
I haven’t yet been burned by doing so though but Mally the Fragrance as kinda no go for me. Not because it smelled horrible but just because it wasn’t what I expected.
I’m not sure what I expected from Mally’s first fragrance but it wasn’t this! This is a clean floral fragrance but I expected more of a fruity floral from Mally for some reason.
This comes housed in a pretty clear crystal square bottle with a pale clear pink cap and a cute heart charm and Mally initial circling the cap.
The core of the fragrance is Sampaguita flower which is the national Flower of the Philippines. I always find Sampaguita very light and clean and not a cloying floral. Other notes include mandarin, red currant, palm left, peach, coconut, sandalwood, and musks as well as freesia and peony. I think they made a little mistake including freesia and peony as both of these notes seem to dominate the fragrance.
For me the freesia ends up making the fragrance very generic. I can’t pinpoint exactly which fragrances but I can think in my mind of at least three perfumes I own (but can’t really name) which smell very similar to Mally the Fragrance. This isn’t to say this doesn’t smell nice because it does. It’s a very fresh, clean, light floral that has a nice throw and linger for several hours on my skin.
My problem with the fragrance is it just smells too like many other fragrances I already own. Sad sigh!
Mally the Fragrance smells lovely enough I just wish it was a touch more unique.
