Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick is a new permanent lipstick launching with the MaybellineSpring 2015 Collection. Not a lot is known about Rebel Bloom Lipsticks as the display doesn’t really say a lot about the formula. From what I’ve gathered in my testing these are a range of lighter, creamier pastels that are marked as being bright, never washed out, dull, or shy. They also have honey nectar in the formula from my understanding!
Let’s take a look!
I have a love hate relationship with Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks. I love the range of shades but sometimes the formula can be hit or miss for me. I really wish they were a bit more moisturizing, a little slicker, as they have a formula that seems to sit on top of lipsticks unnaturally. However, that being said, the pigment and range of colors is excellent! I just wish they’d reformulate and give the lipstick a creamy texture.
Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick are a completely unique formula from other Color Sensational Lipsticks. So on some level, I got my wish, they reformulated! As I mentioned above not a lot is known about this formula as Maybelline has just previewed the collection at Harmons but hasn’t yet released news (aside from a few tweets) on the new formula. Of course, the formula being revamped is exclusive to the Rebel Bloom Lipstick and not the entire Color Sensational Lipstick Collection. I’ll get into the formula a little more in a second.

These come housed in a bright pink casing which sets them apart. They are available in ten shades and are marketed as a “kicky” selection of pastels that “rebel”. Honestly, they are indeed pastel shades but they are bright pastels that are utterly wearable. I tried three of the ten shades and all the colors are quite vibrant and playful but don’t have a washed out look that many paler pastel pinks or corals have! So you can think of the Rebel Bloom Lipsticks as a more daring take on your average everyday lighter perhaps boring pastel. It’s pastel with a serious kick.
As I mentioned above I felt like these were formulated a little differently as well. They have more of a balmy texture which makes them a little sheerer and less intense than the regular line of Color Sensationals. They drag a little during application but it isn’t a dry or unpleasant dragging it’s kinda the drag you get when applying a lip balm. They aren’t really super moisturizing but they aren’t drying either and wear comfortably for a solid four hours before fading. They have a nice sheen finish which gives them a nice shine in a certain light. I like how they wear as the color is soft and smooth without clinging to my lips unnaturally (this has been known to happen with the original Color Sensational Lipsticks). They do still have that unusual play-doh vanilla flavor and fragrance that all the Color Sensational Lipsticks have.
