Sephora + Pantone Universe Marsala Mascara

Sephora + Pantone Universe Bold Marsala Mascara & Brow Highlighter is a new limited edition colored mascara celebrating Marsala, the Patone Color of the Year.

Take a look!

Sephora Pantone Bold Marsala Mascara

As you know Sephora has launched a new Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year Collection for 2015 which celebrates the new and very gorgeous shade Marsala.

Sephora Marsala Mascara

As with years past Sephora has introduced a tinted mascara and this year it’s in Marsala. This comes housed in a gorgeous ombre box with a clear window that shows the mascara suspended within. It’s actually a clear wrap holding the mascara in the box but it gives the illusion that the mascara is floating. The mascara itself is packaged in a pretty rose gold casing with a larger bushier brush for application.

I actually don’t really get on well with tinted mascaras. They aren’t dramatic enough for me but if you happen to have red hair or brownish red hair this might just make for a great brow highlighter as it multitasks for lashes and brows.

I tried it on my lashes and the color wasn’t terribly noticeable (as you can see below). It doesn’t do much for volume or length in my experience with it. It does remove easily, doesn’t smudge, or flake through the wear. If you’re really looking you can see that it dyed my lashes a reddish brown. It’s a pretty effect I just wish it was more pigmented. I did try it on my brows but again I had a hard time building up the color enough to actually see a difference but my brows are quite dark and quite thick so perhaps a lighter brow shade and a thinner brow line might feel it looks better.

I wouldn’t dub it “wildly pigmented” as Sephora markets it however, it is a uniquely shaded mascara.

Sephora + Pantone Universe Bold Marsala Mascara & Brow Highlighter is just one of several items releasing in the 2015 Sephora Pantone Collection. Honestly, it’s easy enough to skip when presented with other items in the collection such as the gorgeous lipstick color that launched with this collection as well as the eyeshadow palette!

The entire Sephora Pantone Collection is available now at Sephora.com and should be available soon in stores.

I ordered the lipstick, but I may wait on this one. I was excited since I have auburn hair (thank you Garnier Nutrisse!), but the mascara isn’t deeply pigmented as I had hoped. Are you going to review the other lippies and eyeshadow palette? I don’t love the eyeshadows; too much redtone, but a swatch/review could change my mind. 🙂

if your hair color matches this I can see it kinda sorta working Robin 🙂 Yup! Upcoming shortly 🙂

The color is pretty for lips and cheeks, but I have a hard time imagining it will look healthy on eyes (pink eye?) It also seems super odd to me to color the eyebrows, but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing some more images online as more people experiment with it!

Shoot, I was hoping the mascara would be darker. It looks more ginger than auburn (or wine-colored). I wonder if layering it over black would help?

Thank you so much for the review! I may have to go see this in person.

I love a good, dramatic black mascara, but I’m a natural redhead and I’m finding black is kind of harsh as I get older. I’ve tried, and loved BadGal Plum, but this might be even more natural. Or, it could be completely terrible and look like I fell in a big pile of mud. It’s a crap shoot. LOL 🙂

I just love this color lol. I wish it was a little darker and more pigmented though.

    Thanks for swatching.

I have found colored mascaras show up better when applied over a white lash primer.

my pleasure. I tried it but no dice, still not as pigmented as I would like!

  • Cassi

Having auburn hair, I’m psyched. It feels like so many companies forget redheads when making brow products.

    • Isabella Muse

I don’t blame you, I think it’ll be great for those with auburn/red hair 😀

  • Lacy

I will be skipping this. The color is nice, the payoff, not so much. I agree, only red heads, strawberry blondes ect with light eyelashes could probably rock this.

  • kellly

I don’t think the mascara is for me, but only because I always, always use black mascara. The color of this looks beautiful. I’m SOOO excited over this color. It’s so wearable, and it’s going to be a great color on me. I’m really anxious to go and check out EVERYTHING. I can see a major haul in my future, I think!

  • Sammie

Oohh, now this…this I’m more excited for. This shade is supposed to enhance blue eyes, and I have a similar shade of mascara that I’ve worn in the past and enjoyed. I have really blonde lashes, so they take any sort of tint pretty well. I just need to find the right eye look to wear it with…

no garret, same one. is it because of the close ups of my eye? I tried using my magnifying mirror to do those shots, they came out kinda better this way I thought!?
