Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream is releasing January 22nd for Spring 2015 in ten shades. It’s exciting to see Bare Minerals taking on yet another liquid foundation product or in this case a gel one. I’m just hopeful that Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream proves a better experience for me than Bare Skin Serum Foundation!

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream ($29) is marketed as a hybrid BB Cream, CC Cream, and tinted moisturizer. It promises to increase the moisture of your skin by up to 215%. Obviously us dry skin girls will adore it eh?

It’s formulated without oils, parabens, fragrances, or silicone.

Bare Minerals says it has dewy sheer to medium coverage with a soft, smooth finish that has an SPF 30 and a gel cream texture that gives skin a natural, radiant finish. It’s formulated with Marine botanicals to help replenish your skin’s moisture.

Shades:

  • Opal 01: Fair Skin, Cool Tone
  • Vanilla 02: Light Skin, Neutral Tone
  • Buttercream 03: Light Skin, Golden Tone
  • Suede 04: Medium Skin, Cool Tone
  • Natural 05: Medium Skin, Neutral Tone
  • Ginger 06: Medium Skin, Golden Tone
  • Tan 07: Tan Skin, Neutral Tone
  • Spice 08: Tan to Dark skin, Golden Tone
  • Chestnut 09: Dark Skin, Golden Tone
  • Sienna 10: Deep Skin, Neutral Tone

I really didn’t like last year’s Serum Foundation release so I’m hopeful Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream proves better. I’m excited to try it out especially since it claims to be so hydrating. All this snow and cold is making my skin look scary!

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream is available for pre-order now at Ulta.com.

yeah I find foundations with SPF tend to morph, become runny, hope that isn’t the case with this!

  • Julia

Maybe this will be a bit more like a tinted moisturizer? “Sheer to medium” is intriguing. I typically like a medium to full coverage so I will probably pass on this, but am interested to hear more about it! Review it for us when it comes out, Muse? 🙂

    • Powell

Sighhhhh. Ulta doesn’t have color swatches of the shades. I could be a Chestnut or Sienna but have no idea. That’s not a good thing if you want to order online even if the shades aren’t completely accurate which they never are Ratz. Bare Minerals will probably have them on their site.

      • Chanel

do u have golden tones or neutral tones to the skin?.. i imagine since it is sheer to medium the neutral shade may work if you are just not sure.

  • Ashley

I received this yesterday and am test driving it today; it’s nice! It’s not so moisturizing that you will feel as though it will never set. It is very sheer but it’s somewhat buildable. The texture straight from the tube is a strange cream with a slight gel texture but honestly, thus far, I like it. I’m waiting to see how it holds up today.

  • Liv

I am fair with neutral undertones. Again a base product in fair only offered in cool. Sigh. I will give this a test in store though just in case it doesn’t run too pink.

    • Robyn

I’m fair with neutral undertones, too. I was wondering if maybe the second shade, Vanilla, would work since it’s so sheer. I’m going to have to test it in the store!

    • Jenn

The cool shade (Opal) isn’t really that cool. I’m extremely fair and cool-toned, and so far, it’s still too warm on me. Try it! It might work for you.

  • breyerchic04

Description wise, this sounds like exactly what I want for spring and summer. I will be watching for reviews!

  • Anna Fantasia

Well I guess this explains the survey they sent me asking about my feelings on “alphabet” creams, as they put it. I am interested in your review of this Muse.

    Happy New Year Is!
None of the foundation shades were even close to matching my complexion, so I never tried it. This may be an interesting hybrid. I will wait to see the shades in person though, thx as always for putting the latest on my radar.

I loved the free sample I received! It’s very lightweight compared to other liquid foundation – and didnt feel like I had a greasy moisturizer on. I can’t wait til the release!!!

  • Penny

I am always looking for new products to try and I love all of my BE products I currently have, so it’s a given that I will be trying this out! 🙂

  • Sheena

I tried the sample and AM IN LOVE!! I cannot wait for this prodcut to release. It is very lightweight, and I am one of those girls who wears foundation to the grocery store or gym. I would never dare to leave the house, let alone walk around the house without makeup. I am purchasing this product for those days where I don’t need full coverage, but just enough to make me feel good. I woke up last Saturday morning, made coffee and started cleaning, my husband and sister both walked up to me on separate occasions and asked me why did I look so refreshed!?! Only difference was the complexion rescue I applied!

I went to a demo/informational mtg on this today. it is very much like a bb cream except it’s “gel”. when i tested it on the back on my hand, it was really smooth… it has squalane in it.. not from whales, but from olives. which is basically a good form of oil. which explains why it felt so smooth. i have not tried this on my face, but i dont think i will like it and i think it ws the consensus around the room. it is supposed to be “fast” for a girl on the go. most of the girls tested and found their shade in “vanilla”. even a Hispanic girl. so while i am not trying to be negative… i just have never been a bareminerals girl… i find baremineral girls are generally not needing/wanting heavy foundations. which this will be great for. if you have drier-normal skin and want very light, easy coverage, then this is for you. \

I just tried the sample that they sent me from ordering something on their website. The sample contained 4 shades – 02 Vanilla, 05 Natural, 07 Tan, and 09 Chestnut. I am extremely fair and wear the lightest shade in all the foundations, even the Ready, so I tried the Vanilla, which it supposed to be for light, neutral skin tones. It was just a little bit off color-wise, but considering that they only have ten shades, it seems like they are going to be pretty forgiving and wearable for a lot of skin tones. I knew it was going to be off to begin with, but it still works okay.

I wear all the Bare Minerals foundations. I actually LOATHE liquid foundations, but surprisingly my favorite is the Bare Skin. Until Now… This stuff is awesome! I’ve never done my makeup routine so quickly. I have terrible dark circles, and I usually buff some of the Bare Skin under my eyes and I have to apply a lot less concealer. I tried it with this and it worked just as well. In fact, I feel like I got about the same coverage as with the other foundations, only my skin feels very silky, and very nicely moisturized. Not greasy at all. The consistency reminded me of their BB primer, but this gives beautiful coverage. Like “Sheena” said, I don’t go anywhere without makeup on, and this really does make you look “refreshed.” I know exactly what I’m using my $10 birthday gift from ULTA on.

I’m extremely fair and cool-toned. I wear the lightest, coolest shades in the orginal and BareSkin lines (which are still slightly too dark). I tried Opal in this new line, and it’s still too warm! Definite yellow undertones. If I can’t figure out how to buff it out enough to make it work, it’s going back. The formula is great, though!

      • Jenn

Just an update: first time I applied this, I used my fingers, as per the directions. For me, that was a mistake. I could still see yellow undertones. I think it applied too much product. Next, I used the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (the buffing brush), and it blended out much better! I could see my skin through the tint better, which I like because then it doesn’t look as flat, and the yellow undertones weren’t as noticeable. I just concealed wherever the coverage was a little too sheer. Looked much more natural this way! Hope this helps someone.

Morgan, from what I could tell, this formula has really similar coverage to their Bare Skin foundation, which I find works pretty well, but they say it’s sheer to medium, so I would try to get a sample and try it out. They are giving samples with any online order, but I’m sure they’d give you a small sample in the store if you asked. I was surprised by the coverage, but I don’t have acne scars, but I do have some temporary redness caused by steroids and it did seem to help some with that. I would think it would have to at least help you some, especially if the other formulas do. Good luck!

  • Morgan

Thank you! I’m looking for a daily makeup so I don’t have to do the complete full coverage stuff! Going to my local store today to try it out 🙂

  • Pamela Gard

Does the new BB/CC gel cream stay on all day? In other words, it doesn’t rub off on clothes like the foundation?

  • margaret

I don’t get how this is different from Bare Skin which I use. Is it just the hydration factor alone?
I of course asked a rep at Bare Minerals and only was told the same thing about hydration in Complexion rescue over and over again. I love Bare Skin so I am wondering what are the real differences? Thx.

  • Lulu

I am completely a BE girl. I use all their foundations, but currently the Bareskin and Complexion Rescue the most. I have combination skin. Complexion Rescue is definitely much lighter coverage than the Bare skin. I’m a wear makeup almost always girl and I find the Complexion Rescue awesome for days when I am not feeling the need to be fully made up but offers just enough to keep you feeling fabulous. If your more of a full coverage girl I don’t think this will do, but it can be used under the powder foundation for a beautiful effect. It also layers well. Hope that helps someone.

I usually have a really hard time finding a perfect shade match. I am fair with very yellow/golden undertones (asian skin tone, oily skin type) and I have this in the shade 03 Buttercream and its perfect! I really like this, at first the texture might seem a little confusing, it kind of reminds me of the benefit porefessional, but it really does stay for a long time and the coverage is good also. I put this on first and on top a little bit of mineral foundation where I need more coverage.
