Anyone who can use Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($29) and look amazing has my utter respect and adoration. I’m simply not worthy of your greatness. I’ve been playing with Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector for about three weeks and I can’t get this product to work for the life of me. I look incredibly bad every single time I apply it.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector is marketed as a full coverage creme corrector. Let me tell you if you apply this as full coverage, you’re going to be ready for Halloween! Either that or you’ll glow in the dark!

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

In theory and from looking at promo images Under Eye Brightening Corrector sounds incredible. The promo images make it look like a salmon or lightly pink cream that can be used to brighten up your eye area. You can either use it alone under eyes or on under your concealer to correct dark circles and brighten up eyes according to Becca. It comes in a really cute glass jar with a rose gold lid. At first glance this is a creamy pale pink, honestly, I’d liken the shade to a slightly lighter version of calamine lotion. It looks fairly normal in the pot but after swatching and most importantly applying you’ll run into issues or at least I did. The problem isn’t with the formula as this has a nice creamy texture that blends easily enough under eyes. The problem stems from the fact it has light reflecting shimmer that has a luminous finish that looks frosty under eyes. You might do well contouring with this, you might do well if you have younger eyes, but if you have finer or deeper lines and a drier under eye area it’s a nightmare in my opinion. A little goes a very long way as too much and you’ll literally look all kinds of glow-y.

I wouldn’t call say it brightens but it does glow and shimmer and sparkle. It actually makes my puffiness, finer lines, and lighter dark circles look even more prominent and accentuates my problem areas rather than conceal or brighten them up! It also creases into fine lines terribly so I have all this glow-y cakey cream under my eyes. Eep! Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector is the type of product that you’re going to really love or really hate. I fall into the hate group. This is just too shimmery for me (or Becca) to recommend for use under eyes. I feel like it makes my finer lines and puffiness look worst instead of better! I don’t like applying anything sparkly or shimmer UNDER my eyes so this is a big no for me. I imagine some might like this but I think it takes a practice to get just the right amount into place without over doing things so if you do purchase beware that a little goes a very long way!

When will companies understand that shimmer under the eyes just draws attention to the area? And if you’re trying to conceal, why would you want to then draw attention to your efforts? And pink shimmer? Were they drunk? High? Why is this necessary? I have so many questions about the meaning of concealer today 😄

    • Isabella Muse

LOL and I am nodding my head in agreement. I’ve been using this everyday for three weeks, determined to make it work. OMG it looks so so so bad. And I like “full coverage”, if you build this, I swear you’ll glow in the dark!

I think it is meant to be used with concealer over the top of it. Did you try it that way? It says may be worn under or over concealer so I do not think it was intended to use on its own. The shimmer should be toned way down with concealer over the top. That is how I have gotten it to work for me.

    • Isabella Muse

tried it that way too 🙁 but it lightens my concealer a good deal so I end up looking pasty le sigh!

      • Jackie

Oh no 🙁 I am sorry it does not work for you. It is an expensive brightener.

        • Isabella Muse

that’s ok, can double up as a highlighter (not under eyes but on face)! 🙂

  • Lacy

Holy shimmer fest. I like the color but not all the glitz and glam in it. Now I know I can def pass on this. Great review 🙂

I tried it….and did not like it, it just looked weird under my eyes. Almost made me look like a deer caught in headlights effect…lol

  • Katherine T.

Uh, I think you should return this. It looks like a spotlight/magnifying glass for under eye problems, and it’s kind of expensive to be used as a highlighter

I am the weird one I guess. I like it. Have tried both over and under Bye Bye Undereye and Nars Creamy Concealer. I am older and have only a few wrinkles and kind of drier skin under the eye. Some days it looks good and not too glowy and some days not. I find it works for me best over the concealer in a small amount. Tomorrow I am going to try to warm it on my skin for about a minute to see if I can thin it out some and see if that makes a difference. I love Becca and am determined to make this work. Ha Ha. Muse, you are the best in providing the variety and depth of reviews and I have followed you for a long time. Keep up the good work!

you aren’t weird at all Texas Peech! Different strokes for different folks 🙂 I’m glad it kinda works for you! AWWWWWWWW thank you! your comment made my day! <3!

Darn, sad to hear this isn’t good. I picked up the new Becca concealer, which seems to have basically the same ingredients as this but different shades. I have to say, I think I really love it. It has great coverage, a little goes far and it has minimal creasing for me. I apply it with my finger because it needs the warmth to blend, but does blend nicely. I like it so much I was going to go pick up the brighter to go over or under, but now I’m second guessing…

    • Isabella Muse

i’m testing out the concealer now myself Mary! maybe try it, who knows you might love it, for me it was way too shimmery!

  • Joan

Ugh hate these types of products. The first one that I crossed paths with was Benefit Ooh La Lift. What a disaster. Surprised to see that Becca is off their game though.

    • Isabella Muse

ya ooh la lift doesn’t really work fab for me either!

I just bought this and was looking to see what others said about it. I have to say I’m shocked! I’m on a med that’s making me tired and giving me HUGE bags and dark circles under my eyes (I previously had none). I asked the girl at Sephora for something and gave her carte blanche. She brought this back and told me I’d need to use another concealer over it. After applying this she actually took a step back and said she was surprised but with my complexion (very pale and pink, lol) I could wear it without anything over it. But she still applied a NARS concealer over it just so I could see what it looked like. I’ll admit, it can migrate a smidge throughout the day if it’s hot out, but I just pat it a bit with my fingers and it smoothes back out. Honestly I love this, it makes me look awake and less like Twilight vampire. I love it, But I will admit, this is just not going to work if you’re not very pale and cool toned.

  • Linda

Well, I was just looking around to see where I could be this (I live in Sweden).
But I’m 38, with some wrinkles around the eyes and sometimes a bit puffy so no thanks Becca. But I do want a pinkish tone to my pale, cool skin 🙂

And you have once again saved my money! Thank you very much! 🙂

  • Linda

*where I could buy this* should it say. Stupid phone and stupid pc! It’s not me! I promise! 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

I mentioned and linked in the post where you can buy it, hope this helps!

I love this product. I received a free sample, but haven’t been able to purchase it. It is out of stock. I’m going to order it online.

I bought this and I love it. I use a teeny spatula and dot it on my pinky and then tap it in. I look so awake. The secret is to use the tiniest amount, much less than regular concealer.
