Cargo The Essentials Eyeshadow Palette

I know many of you enjoy Cargo launches so I thought I’d give you a heads up about the new Cargo The Essentials Eyeshadow Palette ($34 Online Exclusive) which is available now at Ulta.com.

This one is influenced by the hues of NYC architecture with a city landscape gracing the cover. The palette contains a range of 12 beige, brown, grey, and black shades and looks best suited for smokier eye looks!

The formula on some of these has been iffy lately so I haven’t indulged in a good while! I wish it was available in stores so I can at least look at it and swatch it if possible.

Is it weird I want it because I’m a New Yorker?!

Have you ordered any of the recent Cargo Eyeshadow Palettes?

Were you happy with them?

Do share!

P.S. Anyone watching Man Seeking Woman? I just wanted one episode so far, it was kinda naff but I’m hoping it’ll get better. I think I’m trying to re-live Jay’s stunning performance in she’s out of my league, such an epic comedy!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. I’m reserving judgment on Man Seeking Woman for a couple more episodes. I went in not really understanding the whole fantasy premise, and I didn’t really get the humor at first. However, him yelling an apology to Hitler was pretty funny in a sick-and-twisted way.

    Hey Muse! I ordered this as soon as I saw it on Ulta.com because:

    a. I’ve had good experiences with Cargo’s 12 pan palettes (but not the smaller 4 pan palettes which suck);

    b. I love the colors, particularly anything grey and blue;

    c. Heck yeah! I am a born and bred New Yawker and proud of it!!! Welcome to the greatest city in the world.

    • Isabella Muse

      haha bred, born, and raised therefore this went on my instant buy lol! even if I hate it, it’s still a palette inspired by the greatest place in the world to live hehe 😀 let me know how it is! I was disappointed in the last two I purchased so I was a little worried!

        Dear Muse, what were the last 2 Cargo palettes you purchased? Just curious…I hated the “Suited to a Tea” palette.

        • Isabella Muse

          hey mary beth! def was suited to tea (horrible) and Shanghai nights, they were just really disappointing 🙁

          • Asma

            The ‘Let’s meet in Paris’ and ‘Vintage Escape’ palettes are amazing! You should try them out 🙂

    The last Cargo eye palette was I bought was Shanghai Nights. Was super excited because the colors were right up my alley and the packaging was cool. Also, I generally really like this line. However, not so excited to find absolutely no pigmentation whatsoever. I mean zero. Tried all sorts of application methods. I’m never buying their eyeshadows again. They have lost my trust.

    • Asma

      I also heard the ‘Shanghai Nights’ palette wasn’t great, but ‘Let’s meet in Paris’ and ‘Vintage Escape’ palettes are amazing, especially the latter!! You should try them out 🙂

    I want this cause of the colors AND cause i’m a New Yorker! I can be such a sucker for packaging. I wonder what else they’ll come out with.

    Last year, I purchased the Suited to A Tea Palette that was all cream shadows and it was a total disaster. The colors were so pretty in the pan, but they creased like crazy almost instantly, even with primer and powder shadow on top. Other reviewers noted the same problem. Good thing I was able to return at Ulta. So I refuse to buy any more Cargo shadows without seeing reviews first and it must be return-able. Hope these powder shadows are better than the cream ones

    What a shame that most people have had a bad experience with Cargo palettes. I don’t know why brands bother putting out a palette that is a waste of money. Don’t they have quality control?
    I love the colours of this palette, but I would need to read a review before I purchased. Blogs like this one have saved me lots of money. Thank you Isabella.

    • Isabella Muse

      too many brands have this issue 🙁 it’s a shame! aw thanks girl!

    I came across your blog searching for review on this palette because as mentioned cargos palettes are hit & miss. I have 2 of cargos recent palettes. Lets meet in Paris is ok, all are pigmented but some have glittery fallout. The other I love is the vintage escape everything you’d want. I have about 20 singles all of which are great. So I think since most of these are matte I’m going to go for it. If it doesn’t work out I’ll just return it.

    This palette is even prettier in person. If anyone wants to check it out/swatch freely before purchasing, it is should now be available at your local Kohl’s. I just received some Kohl’s cash, and it’s my birthday month as well, so will probably be treating myself to this lovely!

    I purchased this palette from Ulta a few weeks ago, and I adore it. It has great colors with plenty of pigment with no fallout. I also use Cargo’s lid primer, so there are zero creases, even after an active 11-hour workday.
