Disappointing Makeup and Beauty Purchases

disappointing makeup

What’s one of your disappointing Makeup and Beauty purchases at the moment (or in the past)?

I have tons but there’s one in particularly that comes to mind which really disappointed me in a major way!

revlon powder blush spring 2013

Revlon relaunched their powder blush range for Spring 2013 in a collection entitled Cheek Boutique. Honestly, seeing ALL those beautiful blushes in one display at such a low price really made this makeup junkie happy. They looked so pigmented and quite lovely.

Revlon Cheek Boutique Collection Spring 2014

So I went ahead and purchased a majority of the shades and I can’t begin to tell you how disappointing they all were. The formula turned out to be super dry, dense, and had very little pigment. I couldn’t even get my brush to pick up color from a majority of the shades. I think it was so disappointing because the shades truly were beautiful so they had kinda teased me a little with beautiful colors but a formula that just didn’t live up to the visible eye candy.

Sadness!

revlon wine not powder blush

revlon racy rose powder blush

revlon naughty nude powder blush

Revlon Mauvelous Powder Blush

Revlon Haute Pink Powder Blush

revlon classy coral powder blush

It was probably one of my most memorable experiences with “what you see, isn’t always what you’ll get when you try it!”

Don’t get me wrong, I experience disappointing beauty and makeup purchases all the time but this one seems to be the one that stuck out in my head as the most disappointing. It was just that the blush looked so damn promising and BAM you use it and it’s like WTF just happened?!

Oh well!

Makeup life lesson learned.

What’s your most crushing disappointing Makeup and Beauty purchase of the moment?

my biggest drugstore makeup disappointment was Selma H. Cacao coffee body creme. Not hydrating at all and smelled very much like plastic. Mid range would be the Tarte brow pomade most cause the sales girl takes me into the wrong shade

    • Isabella Muse

oh lawd, that happens to me with mac, they fit with the wrong foundation shade every single time and I look horrifyingly orange haha! brow gel=even worst if it’s the wrong shade!

  • Sarah

My biggest disappointment lately has been the REN Radiance line. The Glycol Lactic Mask and Radiance Perfecting Serum didn’t give me any results. The AHA Concentrate did fade scars, but the whole line is loaded with such high amounts of alcohol that it made my acne worse than ever. Broke me out terribly and made my oily skin much worse. After doing some research, I found that the alcohol and essential oils are all extremely damaging and irritating to skin! Such a disappointment from a brand that touts a laundry list of ‘free of______’…

    • Angel

Sarah, Ren was a huge disappointment to me as well. I saw absolutely zero results from their products and they actually dried my skin out. Super bummed as they’re pricey and I was hoping to find a natural line that worked well. I feel your pain!

  • Dee

I almost hesitate to put my biggest disappointment down because so many liked this, but it was the Tarte Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Colored Clay Matte Eye & Cheek Palette Spring 2014. I hated it. None of the shadows would show up on me. I loved the outside of the case and was so excited to get it. And then I just couldn’t stand it. I gave it away. When I buy a palette and don’t like it I’m always really bummed…especially when it’s not a drugstore price. Although I think if I added up all the drugstore products I try and didn’t like the $$ wasted would surprise me!

I got the new Tarte Palette and love it!

    • Amber

Dee, after reading your post, I feel encouraged to put my feelings of disappointment on a tarte product like yours, is also a well loved palette. Sadly, it’s the rainforest after dark palette :-(.
I really loved the packaging and shades along with its convenient sizing and all that good stuff. Problem is the pigmentation. Most of the colors didn’t blend well together on me. I’ve put it away for now, but I might pull it out again to perhaps give it another go. Maybe a miracle will happen. I wish I could trade this palette for another one that I had really wanted to try, which was the Mattenificent. It’s unfortunately not available anymore. 🙁

  • TropicalChrome

MAC nail polish. A color I loved, it was a birthday splurge for myself, and it chipped within 12 hours. Both times I tried to wear it. On top of that, the sales critters at the MAC store were downright rude to me when I tried to buy it there. Some treat. (I ended up purchasing at Nordstroms where I’ve always been treated excellently.) I’ve steered clear of MAC ever since.

  • Jennifer

I picked up Revlon’s Super Lustrous Black Cherry lipstick last year, after seeing tons of people rave about how great it is, how it flatters every skin tone, etc. While I like the color, the formula is SO BAD on me. It is impossible to make it go on even remotely evenly, and since it is a dark color the patchiness is really noticeable. I was really excited about it because, at the time, it was my first dark, non-pink lipstick purchase. So I was pretty bummed when it didn’t work out for me!

  • Adrienne

For me it was the Almay Shadow Softies. I don’t know what they meant by “intense” but despite my efforts and expensive primers and less expensive primers and bases I just couldn’t get these to work for me.

  • Christine Joy Luikuo

Mine would be that Maybelline mascara that had a comb-like applicator. I thought it would be awesome because of the applicator but it wasn’t. It resulted to stiff and clumpy lashes, which I hated the most. I could’ve bought Nyx colored mascara instead or repurchased an e.l.f. mascara, both having a cheaper price.

  • Jamie

I recently purchased a Lorac Mega Pro palette on eBay. Big mistake! The guy used pictures of the real palette and it wasn’t cheap, so it seemed legit but when I got it a) smells horrible and b) says ulac instead of lilac. I’m trying to get my money back, but he’s saying he doesn’t take returns. I know technically this isn’t the real product being disappointing, but I loved all the deep red colors and was super excited to finally get it and maybe the super limited number of these palettes that they sold can count as a dissapointmment. So, that’s the biggest makeup dissapointment I can think of and I also wanted to warn my fellow makeup lovers.

    • Sara

You can file an ebay dispute for that. He misrepresented the product as an original with the photos and you clearly received a fake. In this case, ebay should side with you and you’ll receive a refund. Just state that you tried to contact the seller and he refused a refund despite duping you.

    • Carrie

I agree- file a complaint with eBay. They take counterfeiting seriously. You deserve your money back.

  • Kenna

Definitely MAC Studio Fix Concealer. At the MAC counter I asked for a very easy to use full coverage concealer, enough to cover hyper pigmentation, and she told me Studio Fix would be absolutely perfect for my issue. But when I actually used it, it was dry, hard to work with, and no wear near pigmented enough. Not only did I waste $20 (Because I live over an hour away from where I bought it-and didn’t want to spend the gas money to return it) But I lost a lot of trust for the woman working the counters. But I should have known better- their saleswomen. Their goal is to sell. Still irks me to this day!

    • Sara

Definitely call the MAC Customer Service #!!
I’ve done that with a product that they matched for me, and it ended up being wrong, they totally sent me a replacement in the mail!

  • Beauty Maven

My biggest disappointment is IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes! Extensions. The ads and the description were SOOOOO GOOOOOD but the mascara was only so-so. I was incredibly disappointed! Still need to return it… bleh.

    • susan

Hi, I also was disappointed in IT hello Lashes Extensions. It did nothing for my lashs..and smeared the first time I used it. I got it in a kit. Otherwise, I use a lot of IT cosmetics. But this one needs improvement. I don’t even want to give it away.. I wouldn’t do that to a friend. lol.

    • Katherine T.

Oh, wow. I was eyeing that, since IT usually has such great products. Will only buy if I can return easily

  • Krystle

Mine has to be the Too Faced Amazing Face liquid foundation. Super runny, no lasting power, weird smell, clung to my dry patches. $36 is too much for such a mediocre product.

  • Carrie

drugstore would be one of the jordana eyeliners. back when i was on the hunt for a cheap black liner that i could use, i grabbed it not thinking much of it. it ended up burning my eyes so badly that i was tearing up everywhere! midbrand would be the tarte gel liner, i just couldn’t get it to work for me and the brush they gave with it (didn’t have a proper lining brush at the time) didn’t exactly help make it work for me either.

  • Nat

Charlotte Ronson Starry Eyes liquid shadow. At Sephora, they swatched gorgeous on the back of my hand, so I bought every colour! Then, when I went to use them on my eyes, looked totally different – barely any pigmentation. So sad! 🙁

    • Isabella Muse

oh yes oh yes! I had that experience Nat! and know it well! Those were mega disappointing!

      • Angel

Me three! I have the green one shoved in a drawer some where. No payoff whatsoever.

        • Nat

And if you go check that bottle now – you’ll see the product has completely separated into clear liquid/sludge colour sediment. I tried mixing them back up, but since the applicator won’t go all the way into the corner of the bottle…out of luck. Waaaaaa I wanted to love these so bad! XD

  • makeupwithaheart

I was disappointed in the Body Shop Seaweed line. I bought a travel size of everything (thank goodness!) and while the cleanser was so-so (removed my makeup but still had residue on my cotton pad + toner) , the toner broke me out. I’ve never reacted to products before so I was confused as to why my cheeks and chin, basically everywhere I applied this toner, was breaking out. When I stopped using it, my skin started to clear out. Not believing it was the toner, I added it back into my regular skincare and broke out again. I’m thankfully clear again but I have a lot of post-acne hyperpigmentation marks that will take months to fade…The day cream is moisturizing enough but has no SPF so that’s annoying. The Night Treatment didn’t do much in locking in the moisture and I really need something to keep my skin hydrated during the cold winters.

    • Pash

The Seaweed night treatment made me break out. I was so bummed. Thankfully I got it on clearance, but it was still $10!

  • ShopGirl

Melted in Peony was a 80’s horror story on me. I know everyone raves about the Melteds but they look better on my arm than my lip. Texture/ application result is way off.
Too bad, because I had seriously wanted to be part of the Melted Mania too.

    • maritza

Drugstore: ALLL CG foundations are terrible on me, break me out or make look like a grease ball despite being “matte finish”, PF bronzers and blushes are too light and WAYYY to overpriced. L’oreal the perfect nude line with the black package omg they smell so bad i couldn’t take it made want to barf :(. All sad sad purchases cause in Canada open makeup is non returnable…

Mid range: UD liners: everyone raves about them and they last like an hour on my water line :(, MAC lipsticks are super hyped and honestly they are totally meh, I tried the Naked foundation from UD and the coverage wasn’t there, I Have scarring and huge pores and didn’t cover anything it was more like a bb cream coverage. Tarte Maracuja oil its just ok to expensive i use coconut oil and its wayyy better and cheaper, The Balm lippies are just ok so $26 a pop not worth it and the ones that look like a newspaper package don’t have any pigment. Kat Von D’s lolita looked horrible on me, and was not impressed with too faced melted 🙁

Oh man many disappointments, like i said is just mainly cause you are out of money cause unless you buy it at Sephora there is no return on open makeup in Canada

  • Colette

Definitely a contender for the old adage “You get what you pay for” – I can see why you were tempted by those gorgeous colours!

  • Lina-Elvira

Ugh I hate when things are this disappointing. The last time I was hugely disappointed was when I bought a Bobbi Brown foundation after having a consultation. Felt and smelled so nice and was really moisturising but when I got home – orange-tastic. And in UK we can’t return cosmetics 🙁 *makes money flushing down the toilet sound*

  • Eriu

My latest disappointment was the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Corrector. Beautiful color and felt great swatches on the back of my hand at Ulta but when I tried to work with it, it wouldn’t blend out right. It looked candy on and trying to blend it out made it disappear! It’s going back.

  • Brandy

You know those shimmer strip type products that Revlon also released (they’re in that display photo you posted)? I had to DIG to get that product on my face! Was so bummed, because they looked beautiful in the store.

  • Adiet

My most disappointing purchase was a skincare one: Hourglass Lip Oil, or whatever it was called. Extremely expensive, and I really couldn’t see or feel a difference after having used it. I will definitely stick to the Korres lip butters, although the Clarins lip oils are softly whispering my name.

    • Catherine R.

Glad to see this. I was seriously considering buying the Hourglass lip oil. I was wondering if it was worth the hype.

  • Bonnie S.

OCC lip tar. I wanted so much to love this product as it’s vegan and cruelty free, so I bought it and much to my disappointment it really didn’t suit me at all, I bought a nice rust coloured autumn-y shade, well it was just kind of like wearing clown makeup, even with just a dab on, like they tell you to do. So since it looked so bad with just a dab I added several more dabs – oy vey! I could never feel comfortable wearing lips dressed like that to work, or anywhere else. So I threw it out. Might be good for going to a club or a concert, but for every day it just didn’t work for me. Boo hoo. (PS: that was not the first lipstick purchase that didn’t work out for me – when I think of all the times I’ve been disappointed I could cry…)

    • shelby

I have three OCC lip tars, bought them back before Sephora sold them so they were pretty difficult for me to get my hands on, I wore them a couple of times and hated them, if theres wind and your hair touches your lips it’ll drag the colour all over your face. I can understand the use for commercial/editorial looks and such but for the everyday normal person, definitely not.

  • kim

Tarte lights, camera, flashes comes to mind. For being $4 more expensive than LCL, it performs so much worse. Super clumpy and the brush is awkward.

On the upside, have you tried Simple Micellar water? I think it is changing my life!!

    • Isabella Muse

i haven’t, it’s in my “to be reviewed” pile! it’s funny you mentioned it as I have an upcoming micellar water post 🙂

  • Gillie

Sadly, my biggest disappointment in recent months is the L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner. The application and color payoff is everything you’ve always said, Muse, but I’m so allergic to it!

Very disappointing because it’s, otherwise, a great product.

  • Sarah

Urban Decay eye shadow primer has been the biggest waste of money I’ve spent yet. My shadow would crease within two hours of application. Too Faced and Lorac primers work wonderfully on me though.

    • Pash

See, for me it’s the opposite. Too Faced does nothing, but UD Sin primer keeps that stuff on all day long.

  • barbara

Mine is the MAC keepsakes collection for holiday 2014. I previously did not own any MAC products so I was super excited to get them. I bought all 3 eye shadow palettes and both face palettes and I was sooooo disappointed in all of them. I kept them for about 2 weeks using them daily trying so hard to like them thinking I was using them wrong (LOL) but there was just no pigment and the face palettes were just irritating, 2 highlighters just made me sad. I checked daily it seemed for reviews on them thinking that maybe I got a bad batch, but most of the other reviewers said the same thing. NO PIGMENT. I wanted soooooo badly to keep them but I couldn’t justify keeping for that kind of money knowing I would never want to use them.

    • Chloe

I had the exact same experience! Luckily I bought mine at Nordstrom so I was able to take it back with no issues.

  • Ruth

My disappointment is also Revlon. it was their custom eyes shadow pallet. it was chalky without any color payoff at all. it’s stuffed into the medicine cabinet where I pretend that it doesn’t exist.

  • melissa

okay this is a sad one for me i have only used it twice so hope there is hope lol hourglass ambient lighting blush palette i do not see the wow everyone was raving i think it goes on too pigmented and the middle color to me is just a highlighter not worth the price in my opinion but maybe in time it will grow on me and there is more but went blank lol

    • Isabella Muse

oh I felt the same about ALL the hourglass ambient blushes, they just weren’t what I expected!

      • Gillan_wv

I’m so glad I’m not alone. My first thought was hourglass ambient powder, I can’t see it on my face and for the price, I was just really bummed.

  • Gillan_wv

Honestly I feel weird saying it, since everyone loves them, but the makeup geek eye shadows were a huge bummer. Maybe it’s the ones I chose, I got five that were unique, like a navy and gold, but they either didn’t show up or made a huge mess on my cheeks.

I’ve heard MAC can be hit or miss, but so far I only have a couple and they are far superior to makeup geek.

    • Angela

Gillan – I had a hard time with MUG shadows creasing on me when I first got them. It was SUPER depressing, especially because I absolutely adore Marlena and everyone LOVES her products. The upside is that another blogger gave me a great tip for applying them and now I’m happy as a clam. I’m thinking about the popularity now of Colour Pop but I don’t think I could handle more disappointment, LOL.

      • Gillan_wv

I have to ask…what the tip? I only have five pans, but if I could get them to work, I would get more…I’m an eyeshadow junkie!!

        • CornyMetoka

Oh yes, please share your tip! I have a bunch of MUG shadows and I love the colours and would love to expand the collection but I just find that the shadows tend to lose most of their pigment when blending, and also that they crease within a couple of hours even with my beloved WnW Fergie primer.

  • RA

I have too many to remember.Dior liquid eyeliner, 2 or 3 Chanel Rouge Allure lipsticks, Dior star foundation (oxidizing), a couple of Maybelline color tatoo eyeshadows and elf creme eyeliner in copper are the recent ones…

    • Angel White

Dior liquid and also Chanel liquid liners are ripp off for your money

  • Dani

I think the biggest disappointment for me was the Revlon matte balms! The balm stains are my HG lip product & I was so excited about the matte’s that I bought 3 of them without even thinking, but they look soooo awful on me. Accentuate lines in my lips & look chalky. :[ I hold on to them just because I’m so disappointed/ashamed & keep thinking that someday I’ll make them work! Never going to happen, but a girl can dream.

    • Katherine T.

Yeah, I live the balm stains but don’t like the matte balms. It almost looks like dried paint on me.

    • Brendanese

I love the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms! It lasts very long without claiming to be long-wearing and are very pigmented! My favorite color is sultry, but I am aware that the lighter colors in the range are chalky :/ I have sultry, elusive, and standout and those all apply amazing, great for throwing in the purse 🙂

  • susan

A real downer for me also was Mally, her lipstick. It was like wax, and I bought the five of them in a box from the Q. I mean it was like putting a Crayola crayon to your lips. Staying power lasted for maybe ten minutes. No joke. After that, no MALLY products coming into this house.

  • Kimberly

I have had TOO many to mention, but the most RECENT was the new Maybelline eyebrow product–went on gloppy and messy–a big NO!

  • ElKay

I’m disappointed in the new Hourglass eyeshadow palette. It’s a powdery mess. It’s going back to Sephora.

  • Kelly Zollo

Drugstore was for sure the Revlon Lip Stains both the mattes and the other ones. My husband got me them as a stocking stuffer 6 colors and they are horrible. I feel they are very pigmented but maybe not enough for my dark lips.

As for high end I really didn’t like the Tarte Holiday 2012 set of eye shadows and the smolder eyes set. The smolder eyes I was super allergic too and the eye shadows never really wowed me the pigmentation wasn’t that great.

  • Ali

Benefit’s Dandelion blush… I cannot get it to show up for anything!! I know it’s very light, but I can’t even get a swatch to show up on my hand/arm.

  • Angela

NARS Orgasm blush. Like others who have posted here, I feel so guilty confessing that, but it just seems so hard and I feel like I have to dig my brush into it to get any product. And then I squish the brush on my face to get what little product there is onto my face and it ends up pulling my foundation away so I have blotchy cheeks afterwards. Not a good look!

  • Ari

My biggest disappointment so far this year was the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation. I’ve been wanting to try a powder foundation for a while, so I picked it up after hearing some good reviews. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a good way to build it up (seemed to stay sheer, even using a wet brush or sponge) and the second lightest color was just a hunt too dark for me while the lightest color is too pink. In the end it’s a good smelling but unremarkable pressed powder for me. Maybe I’ll like it better in summer!

  • Teralissa

Maybelline’s Brow Drama was a HUGE disappointment. There’s no pigmentation; I don’t know what the heck they were thinking with the appicator design; there’s no hold. Just blech! Better off purchasing their clea mascara for brows. 🙂

    • Amber

No kidding!! What a joke of a product! Remember all the dumb instructional videos that Pop up on you tube?!? Well, I tried to use it just like demonstrated and my brows ended up to be a sticky mess! Yuck

  • Genevieve

I totally understand what you are saying Isabella about Revlon’s blushes. A few years ago I stopped using any of Revlon’s products because they were all cheap and nasty. Sorry Revlon – I was once a fan. The blushes were particularly bad. Now I am using Natio and Physician’s formula.
I am really careful about the skincare products I buy because I have had some really bad reactions over the years. So now I have sample packs to try out. At the moment I am using the Natio serum – which is great. Cetaphil’s moisture cream as well. Love Elizabeth Arden’s Prevage range but it is way too expensive for me.
For eyeshadow palettes – I read the reviews first. Thanks to you and Christine from Temptalia I generally get it right. So disappointing when you spend money on a product that fails you.

    • Isabella Muse

ugh right? they looked so pretty but the formula was just awful! aw thanks Genevieve very flattering!!!!!!!!

  • Pamela

My biggest mistake was buying Christmas gifts of Philosopy body washes. They have the most wonderful sounding names! They all stunk, in my opinion. (bought some for myself too) I had to wring it out of my friends but they finally agreed they hated them.

Especially a red one. Maybe candy cane? It looked like you were bleeding in the shower. Yuk. I never have bought another product from that brand.

Then another is ANYTHING Tarte. too many bad experiences. Especially lip color. I avoid that brand for anything now as well. Once burned, I am over that brand.

  • Katherine T.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – super strong fragrance that never goes away (like pouring perfume on my hair), super expensive for very little product, and doesn’t give me any volume. I don’t know why others keep raving about it, but I had to return it. My big can of Tresamme Dry Shampoo works much better for only $6.

  • Katherine T.

John Freida Frizz Ease Barrier Hairspray – doesn’t really prevent frizz and the hold isn’t very good either.

  • Jeanine McAuliffe

My biggest disappointment thus far is prob Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara!!! I loved it the first week then came the smearing and the clumps..NO THANKS!!! Have used better drugstore mascara’s for a fraction of the price!!! Drugstore disappointment has to be an NYX product and NYX is by far one of my favorite brands ever but there HD studio finishing powder..It makes my flaws STAND out and I clearly do NOT want pics taken when wearing it!!! Muse I really love your blog,by far the only one I don’t delete that pOps up in my email..Thanks for being awesOme!!!!

    • Isabella Muse

oh me too! They’re Real was super over hyped Jeanine! Aw thank YOU so so so much! That’s really flattering and incredible to hear 🙂 <3! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo!

  • Ame

Most recent disappointment? The new It Cosmetics TSV I just got…The CC Eye has NO coverage, it doesn’t work with the CC for face, and the CC face powder is HORRIFIC. For fair skin, it should simply be translucent, but instead it’s ORANGE and dark. It’s almost like they put something made for darker skin in there instead. The compact cc cream is fine but the compact not being refillable is wasteful.

The lipstick has cheap garbage castor oil in it, so I can’t use it anyway, but the fact that it’s in anything at all is something that sours me on any brand that uses that cheap filler crap in any product, not just because it’s not hypoallergenic, but because it is CHEAP FILLER CRAP.

    • Katherine T.

Oh, no. I was eyeing that kit, since IT usually has such great products.

  • Iris

My recent disappointments were Fresh’s and Hello Waffles’s lip balms (the older formula for the latter). They were both very melty and the latter is melting enough that the tube outside is messy. Good thing is Hello Waffle is reformulating their lip balms. I may try the balms again when the new ones come out.

  • Ri

So I read your review of the PF Lash Extensions kit and was so excited that I went on the hunt for it on Christmas Day to wear to dinner. FAIL! The fibers went EVERYWHERE and I tried it with several different mascaras, in every which way and order and just couldn’t get it to work. 🙁

    • Isabella Muse

oh no 🙁 I experience this when I use it with another mascara other than the one it came with but thankfully when I use the mascara it came with no problems! Try tapping excess off!!!!! I’m sorry Ri! I really loved it too! 🙁

  • Vanessa

My biggest disappointments are the Jordana 12 HR Made To Last Eyeshadow Pencil in 004 Continuous Almond, the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick in 002 Bulletproof Beige, and the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in 201 Classic Beige.

The Jordana pencil creases very quickly on my lid and fades pretty fast on my waterline. The Rimmel stick swatches great on my arm, but for some reason will not apply smoothly on my lid. It also creases fast as well. BUT, the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick in 008 Blackmail works great! Doesn’t fade or smudge when I use it as an eyeliner or on my waterline.

So many people have said the Rimmel foundation is great and will keep you matte for hours, but it didn’t for me. Foundation alone, I would see shine after about an hour or 2. An error on my part though, is buying this shade because it’s slightly too dark for me. When I applied it after using the ELF Mineral Primer, I noticed a lot less shine so I’m thinking of buying a lighter shade and also using my recently purchased Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

  • yelitza

My most disappointing drugstore buy was Maybelline sculpting brow mascara. The applicator is shaped like something used in the Braveheart movie LOL!, plus it did nothing for my brows. my mid range is definitely the Benefit They’re Real push up liner which was dry, applied unevenly and left me with a raccoon’s eye instead of a cat’s eye.

    • Ruth

I had the same problem with Benefit’s eyeliner! it was super fiddly and would dispense from the tube in clumps, even with one click. I had to take the clump and smoosh it onto my lid with the applicator. I’d go out thinking that my cat eyes looked great and look in the mirror and it was a hot mess!

  • Merci

I have acne prone sensitive semi dry skin and I have a list of bad experience but in general with drugstore foundation. The last one was the Sonia kashuk foundation. It was so grease and I’m dry. Had to return it. Is so hard to find make up for my skin tipe that I have to think a lot before buying something.

    • Brendanese

I have the same type of skin! Tons of dry patches :/ Have you tried the Revlon Colorstay formulated for dry skin? I love it!

  • shelby

The only product that has ever broken me out is the Garnier BB cream, it was big cyst acne too. I really loved it though, it have an extremely dewy finish, which I know some people didn’t like but I havent found anything close to giving me that much glow.

  • Brendanese

The most recent I can remember was the Too Faced Under The Mistletoe :/ I was stalking it before it released as I had spoken to a Too Faced brand rep and she said they were amazing! It sold out so fast on Sephora and I had trouble finding it! The shades were so light and the shimmer clinged to my dry lips 🙁
