What Makeup and Beauty Products Would You Bring Back?

makeup

I’m sure if I think really hard I could come up with a bible’s list worth of makeup and beauty products I would bring back after they have be discontinued by a brand. Eyeshadow shades, skincare products I’ve used and loved, lipstick colors that are no longer available, etc…etc…

One particular ALWAYS comes to mind when I think of what beauty products I’d bring back, take a look below and see if you agree with me on this one.

What makeup and beauty products would YOU bring back given the chance?

If I could I’d bring back Clean & Clear Eye Make Up Remover! Clean and Clear launched their Eye Make Up Remover back in 2009 and it was such a fab beauty budget fav of mine. It was $5.95 for 5.5 oz and it totally stole my heart. The bi-phase formula was just as great as Lancome Bi-Facil!

Damn shame it was diced.

If you want a great and cheap eye makeup remover that’s as good you can check out Milani Eye Makeup Remover (Loves it!) but I stil miss the Clean and Clear one none the less.

What about you?

Given the chance can you think of one single product that you would bring back from the makeup grave so you can stock up on it again?

It can be anything! Skincare, a certain shade of eyeshadow or lipstick, maybe even a makeup brush!

Do share!

I really miss the original Revlon Super Lustrous lip glosses because they were so much better than the current formula. They had a nice balance of pigment and had a nice consistency on the lips. The new ones have less than a wash of color and something in them just makes my lips itch. I also enjoyed the Revlon Colorstay brow enhancers because they were so easy to use. If only these made a return from the makeup graveyard!

    • Isabella Muse

I don’t think i ever tried the old version Ash, how odd….! now you have me curious!

  • Brendanese

Kat Von D’s older palettes i.e. Poetica or Beethoven! Don’t get me wrong, i love my monarch palette but it’s a lot bulkier than her previous palettes.

  • mirandagrosvenor

Maybelline Magic Mascara (waterproof version). HG mascara…I think this got tossed when they left Little Rock and went to NYC. Boooo

    Maybelline Wear n’ Go lipsticks

L’Oreal Blush Delice and Shine Delice lipstick

Rimmel Underground – the whole line, but particularly Sweet Stuff lipsticks

Cutex nail polishes with the loooong handles and awesome colors

and pre-Markwins owned Wet n’ Wild. Used to be cheap but dependable – now it’s just cheap.

Side note: there are things I see in old ads I was too young for but would really love to have tried, like Yardley or Love’s cosmetics. They look so neat and young without being overly cutesy.

    • Isabella Muse

I just wanna say, I have some L’Oreal Blush Delice shades. I wouldn’t use them (they are old as dirt) but I still have them haha 😀

    • amy

Markwins has owned WnW for decades… WnW has actually come a long way from the 80s/90s-the eyeshadows were nothing more than colored talc.

  • Dayna

Revlon Outrageous shampoo!! I loved the smell of it. It was discontinued years and years ago, though I think it’s still available in Canada. Seriously, I miss this shampoo.

I also miss the L’Oreal HIP Jelly balms! Perfect amount of color, loved how they felt on my lips.

      • Eli Caroline

As soon as I ready Dayna’s comment, I suddenly thought of Teen Spirit shampoo. My preteen self thought it was the best smelling stuff in the world.

    • Bonnie S.

Dayna, you can still get Revlon Outrageous shampoo by ordering off Canadian website well.ca. They do ship worldwide. Cheers.

    • Kim Egan

Yes… L’Oreal Outrageous shampoos and conditioners are greatly missed by me. I would like to know if the formulations were sold off to another company? Is the product still available under a different name? If so, I would like to know.

I live in Canada, so products were available here for longer than in the U.S. But it is also no longer available here either. I have used this product off and on for years. When I think about it has been for many/many years.

When I was younger I was a big fan of using/trying/rotating different hair care products and not getting a build up from any one product. Then I came to the realization that I was wasting money on products I did not like and struggled to use up. And my naturally curly/wavy hair responded very well to Revlon Outrageous hair products.

Like everyone else… I like the pleasant, perfumey scent and the product moisturizes my hair well, smoothes and helps to tame the frizzies.

Also, now that I am going through menopause and dye my hair…. my hair has been feeling very dried/distressed and frizzy… and I have recently experienced alot of breakage.

Awhile back a friend picked up a bottle of Revlon Outrageous shampoo for me (at a warehouse sale) and I still have some conditioner left… I used both today… and I have to say that my hair feels quite a bit better (less dry, frizzy and broken).

Please bring back this product or advise where I can get a similar formulation. I am having a horrible time with my hair…. and have realized that this may have coincided somewhat with ceasing to use these products.

If anyone can help me to find product… that would be great.

Also, please know that I cannot afford to spend a lot of money on hair products. I used to buy these products at Giant Tiger in Canada for much less than $3/bottle CDN.

I am not interested in buying this product for an inflated price because it has been discontinued. Thank you in advance for your help.

  • AmyBS

This shampoo that Almay used to make when I was in high school (early 90s) It smelled soooo good, people would stop me and ask me to smell my hair. Oh, that sounds pretty creepy when I type it out like that… but that was awesome stuff

    • Mel

Almay also had a perfume that was my very favorite ever. (Just called “Almay”.) Perfect light summer scent. I’d bring that back for sure!

  • Jen

Urban Decay’s Razor Sharp Powder. The container was ridiculous but I have yet to find a better setting powder.

  • Dawnn

L’Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara!! loved this stuff! the comb-like brush was amazing

  • Courtney

Mac outre eyeshadow. It was a limited edition shade a couple of years ago but such a gorgeous mustard yellow color that was really flattering in the crease!

    • Kimmwc03

I’d love if Bath and Body Works would bring back a few scents like the Cucumber Melon they had back in the 90s.

      • Amy Amethyst

I recently discovered that you can still buy cucumber melon on the bbw online store. Not sure if it’s still as good as the original one was but I ordered one to see during semi annual sale.

  • Amanda

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner in the shade Bronzed Brown. It was my favorite eyeliner, but the color was discontinued. The closest thing I’ve found in color is Teddy Eye Kohl by MAC, but nothing tops that Revlon eyeliner for me.

  • Gisela

During a christmas sale 2 years ago I found a pretty jar of Clarins translucent Loose Face Powder (I’m not talking about the new mineral version) and it works really well to set my concealer. Normally I would never use powders as my super dry skin hates them but this product is great.

Now, thankfully the jar is quite huge so I have tons of product left. But after checking online and in stores it seems this formula has been discountinued. Booooo!

I also miss herbal essences shampoos. They no longer sell them in Sweden since a few years back. They weren’t anything special really but the SMELL was amazing.

  • Sasha Banks

MAC tinted lip conditioner – especially in Soothing Beige. That was my go-to lip product.

  • Nicole

Stila shadow pot on Amber. Most perfect eyeshadow color I’ve ever owned!!

  • sarah

Without a doubt, MAC MV3 perfume! It smells amazing. Turquatic is good, but not the same.

    • April

HUGE second! I hoarded bottles of this when I heard it was dc’d. I also want MAC Hyper Real foundation back.

  • Maggie

Philosophy’s pink almond candy lip balm, it was perfect!

Revlon used to make this cream eye shadow I think called eye foil that was a sheeny gold that I wore all through high school…many many moons ago. Still have it for memories. They also discontinued my favorite lipstick from their line called “Mauve it Over”…why!!!

Bourjois – Effet 3D in Chair Veridic 14 – it made your lips look plumper than any other lip gloss I have ever used without being tacky.

Physician’s Formula Retro Glow Illuminating Eye Shadow Locket Compact, it was a beautiful “locket” style that made me feel grown up when I would open it as a teenager. I loved it and kept it as well for memories.

  • Carol

This is an easy one. Rimmel Mousse blush in the shade “Peach Ice Tea”. That was the best color blush I think I ever used. It looked so natural, went on like a dream and lasted all day. I actually hoarded a few when they were on clearance but they dried up over time.

  • erin olsen

Bath and Body Works Blackberry Amber scent is what I would bring back. It was gorgeous, sexy and playful without being too much. I would also bring back Zoya’s nail polish in Holly. Such a gorgeous metallic green color.

    • Autumn

Blackberry Amber was my favorite BBW fragrance ever! It’s just a scent that makes you feel sexy. I still have some of it, because I’m a beauty hoarder. I also loved the gel to foam cleansers BBW had that came in a can like shaving gel. 🙂

  • amy

    Maybelline True Illusion Foundation

MAC Studio Stick foundation-loved the formula, but was matched to the wrong shade, and by the time I went to exchange it, it was DC’d…

    NARS Santorini & Night Bird eyeshadows-they were DC’d before I discovered NARS…

There was a Revlon eyebrow pencil in the mid-90s that was mechanical, and you could buy refills; the formula was amazing, and the points were sooo fine & precise…

Oh, and can we just bring Max Factor back to North America? Their old HD foundation was awesome, and they were the first to do it in the 80s!

    • Dia

I second Max Factor! Their stick foundation was the first makeup product I ever fell in love with.

    • Johnna

Amen to bringing Max Factor back to North America! I miss their PanStick foundation, the powder Pancake foundation, they really had the best foundations on the market. I miss them so much!

  • Stephanie G

All of Revlon’s Street Wear line! Also Maybelline’s Lip Polish – kind of a lipstick/gloss hybrid, not sticky and came in great colors.

  • Danielle Sweet-Reyes

Oh god where do I start! DK’s Black Cashmere perfume, Bath and Body Works ylang ylang myrhh from the aromatherapy line, Becca’s cabrera liner…i have too many honestly. Lol guess I’m actually nostalgic after all

  • christine valle

Clinique pot glosses – Meadowflower Honey and Black honey. Best and stickiest glosses ever. Don’t know why they stop making them. Most of the time they were sold out.

  • Rachel

I also loved the Maybelline Smoked Kohl liners and Revlon’s Raisin Rage eyeshadow quad from that time. I guess I’m a 90’s lady.

      • Nat

Hee-hee, yes! Avon Slick Tints were my first lip balm/colour, but when kissing koolers came out, I was all over those. 🙂

        • Isabella Muse

oh slick tints were prob the gateway drug to makeup for everyone 😀

    • Lori

Oh, I loved these. I had several. Thank you for mentioning these because I had forgotten what they were called.

  • kaitlyn

Mary Kay used to do a liquid lipstick type thing in the color confetti. It was the most perfect color, and the only liquid lipstick formula that I recall liking. I would totally settle for a dupe of the color though!

  • Jenny H.

Revlon Strawberry Suede! Such a lovely color, and a nice formula! Revlon’s matte lipsticks have been pretty hit or miss in my experience, but they got it right for this shade. It looks amazing against my cool fair skin tone and I haven’t found another shade quite like it (Lipstick Queen Jungle Queen looks similar on me, but not quite the same). Even though I love the color, I try not to wear it too often because I don’t want to use my tube up. 🙁 Revlon brought back some of their vintage shades last year and it was pretty popular, so maybe they’ll do the same again sometime with Strawberry Suede? I can dream!

Also, I’ll have to try that Milani eye makeup remover if it’s stocked anywhere near me. I got a new bottle of my favorite, the Nuance one, and they changed the formula for the worse. It doesn’t work as well as it used to and now it stings my eyes!

  • Veronica Corey

maybe showing my age, but Ultima II body Glowtion, that stuff made my skin look amazing!

    • YoKasta Martinez

OMG, I LOVED Ultima II makeup! That was the first prestige brand I could afford! Whatever happened to it?

    • JoElla

I say bring back anything Ultima! Victoria perfume by Victoria secect, Armani woman…let I’m sure I could thino of loads more.

    • Anna Overpeck

Can’t find anything to compare with it! Old skin needs glow and moisture.

  • Kit Novak

Benefit’s Georgia blush. Such a gorgeous shade. It was perfection for my skin tone and it smelled so good! Also, many years ago Benefit came out with these pallets. Georgia, Dandelion, and Hula. It had (I think) two eyeshadows, the blush, a lip cream and brushes. I had all three and they were the best! Had I known that they were going to discontinue them I would have stocked up.

  • Bonnie S.

Rimmel’s last version of lip gloss – I think it was called vinyl gloss, but anyways it came in a big fat tube with a big fat wand and I loved it because it went on lusciously in just one swipe: big fat shine and moisture – I loved it! Lucky for me I purchased about 50 tubes of it because they were always on sale. Now they are discontinued – no more big fat Rimmel lipglosses – and are replaced by the dreadful Apocalypse lip glosses. So I will be living off my stash of discontinued Rimmel gloss for quite a while.

Which is why I always, always, buy two of everything I love. Makeup companies cannot be trusted to keep the good stuff!

  • Christine

Isabella, I like the Almay Longwear & Waterproof Liquid Eye Makeup Remover – 4 oz (around $5) better than the Lancome. It’s the kind you shake to mix, and it works wonderfully. Give it a try!

  • Marie

Revlon Lipstick in Blackberry-this was a great color for me

    Charlie Forest Herbal perfume

And going WAY back to age 12 or so-Sweet Earth solid perfumes. I loved these- I had one compact with Mountain scents and another one that had patcholi

    • Jill lecar

I had the Earth one with all shades of brown I needed to use it because I didn’t want to use it up. Also Gee your hair smells terrific shampoo and flowering herbs from Bath and Bodyworks

  • bebe

The entire 1960’s “London Look” collection from Yardley..especially the “Slicker” lip polishes, and the “Poetry Collection” lipsticks that Yardley launched to celebrate the release of Franco Zefferelli’s “Romeo and Juliet” in 1968. Those print ad’s featuring Jean Shrimpton and Olivia Hussey were absolute works of art, and I still have every Seventeen magazine in which they appeared.

    • Isabella Muse

le sigh Olivia Hussey! I’ve only ever seen those ads online but she was so incredible in those ads! so classic, so beautiful! She was such a stunning woman (still is!).

  • Danadoo

Oh my gosh, i’d bring back revlon super lusteruos lipstick in “virtual violet”, the lavender frosted one, not the deeper shade. i went through soooo many of these in the 90’s! it somehow just blended in with the color of my lips to give them the prettiest glow and ive been looking for a dupe forever, and there’s none to be found. revlon had actually managed to make silvery lavender look natural and wearable. sigh. if this ever came back, i swear i’d buy at least 20 of them!

  • Ricci

Does a face mask count? Mary Kays revitalzing mask been using it for 15+ years and it removes dead skin, its been amazing for me thank god I can still get it on ebay but its takes a bit to receive it , a pain,

  • breyerchic04

The L’Oreal lip gloss pots that were like MAC tendertones (or mac tendertones).
    Marigold shampoo from the 80s.

  • Melissa

For about 5 minutes Sally Hansen made a lip crayon (yup) called Colorfast Tint and Moisture Balm, and the Blackberry Honey was a dead ringer for Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. (Maybe that was the problem!) It was a perfect color and consistency and the price was right. Hope my little stash holds out for a while…

  • Ashley

Bonne bell lip shades for the nostalgia alone

Loreal true match super blendable bronze glow liquid bronzer I think got this in 2006 -2007 and loved the way it applied and looked on my skin I’ve never done well with powder bronzer so this was my first experience with bronzer looking pretty on me.

Gap pink perfume this was my very first “grown up” (probably 1999-2001 until 2006?)perfume and I went through bottles and bottles of this stuff! It was a tart fruity smell that I would probably still wear today if I could.

Adidas moves for her my second “grown up” perfume and I loved it!

    Sally Hansen chrome polishes

Revlon street wear line one of my first make up purchases that made me feel really cool if I remember correctly there was a crap ton of glitter involved.

    Caboodles nail polish

Candy kiss lip balms these came in the cutest little tins and I loved how they all smelled I wanted to collect every single one!

There are probably a few more that I can’t think of at the moment but also there are a bunch of limited edition collections I would love to see again like the Mac Barbie one or the Alice in wonderland palette from urban decay.

    • LollySue

      Ashley-
If the GAP perfume your thinking of is So Pink, they brought it back a few years ago and it is available for purchase in GAP stores or online (at Overstock.com, Amazon, Fragrancenet.com, even at CVS.com). It had this great grapefruity-floral scent. I wore it so much, no one in my crowd of friends & acquaintances could wear it, because someone else would tell them that they smelled like me!! LOL

  • YoKasta Martinez

I would bring back Urban Decay De-Slick in a Tube. That mattifier was the ONLY thing that sucked up all the oil in my skin and allowed me to wear my makeup ALL DAY LONG without creasing and sliding off my face! Becca has a primer that is very nearly a dupe, but you can’t go wrong with the original!

  • Kim

Revlon Scoundrel women’s perfume. Was my signature scent.
And Avon’s Pink Hair Brush. I even contacted Avon about it. They said they weren’t bringing it back. You can buy it on Ebay for around $80 bucks. No way.

  • LipstickHoarder

    Hey Muse 😀

I’d totally bring back MACs Riri Heart products as I missed out on a few. :[

  • Laurie Ann

It’s so fun to read through the comments and reminisce on great bygone beauty products. I miss Revlon’s ‘Touch & Glow’ foundation from the 90s — it was so lightweight and natural looking, I just loved it. I miss Max Factor nail polishes, especially ‘Sand’ and Jane cosmetics from the 90s — they had a gloss pot in ‘Copper Penney’ that was a gorgeous shade, a caramel-brown. The Bodyshop had a fragrance oil that I loved — I think it was called ‘Ananya’. The Volume Express mascara that Maybelline made in the late 90s when it first came out was the best. The formula has changed over the years. And I wish I could find Calyx shower gel and lotion — it’s no longer by Prescriptives, Clinique took over that fragrance line but I can’t find my beloved shower gel/lotion anymore.

  • Pash

BBW’s Glittering Gumdrop 3-in-1 body wash…the problem with BBW is you can never, ever get attached to their limited edition scents, unless you’re willing to stockpile them!

There was also these fruit-flavored lip balm duos that came in a sliding rectangular tin, like Lip Lickers except it was NOT Lip Lickers…I think Naturistics made it? I can’t find pictures of it anywhere, though.

  • Natalie

Clinique Gentle Light Foundation. I’m on my last bottle and I only use it for very special occasions.

  • Chieko

    Clairol Herbal Essences original scent
    Desert Flower lotion by Shelton
    Aquamarine lotion by Revlon
    Intensive Care lotion original scent
    Love’s Fresh Lemon spray

  • Em

MAC Hipster lipstick. the name of the shade was misleading but it was a gorgeously gothic, dark metallic red. even now i have a hard time finding the perfect dark metallic red shade of lipstick and MAC’s Hipster hit the spot perfectly. i just wish they’d bring it back.

  • Stacie

The maybe line dream mouse concealer… I have super dark circles I could be pricked by a spinning needle sleep for 100 hundred years and still wake up with super dark circles..I don’t even normally like maybeline but I lived that product…. Also The Blam use to have this lip balm that I loved … It was vegan too (Even better it helped with pug rescues) I think it was called the balm lip balm to the rescue (somethin. along those lines) please bring those back

  • bebe

I agree, Muse..Olivia Hussey is still gorgeous..as for Ms. Shrimpton, I have not seen any recent pics, so I don’t know how the years have treated her.

    • Isabella Muse

agreed bebe! 🙂 She’s still as charming as ever. Jean Shrimpton was in a magazine last year, can’t recall which…but time hasn’t been as good to her as Olivia Hussey!

  • Iris

Tarte’s True Blood cheek stain for me. I missed out on it the first time around, as I wasn’t into cheek stains or blushes back then.

  • Shawna

Club Monaco Cosmetics! I used to use their powder foundation and a lipatick in Beam.

  • Cindy

There was a Guerlain lipstick in the exact same colour as Guerlain Avarice. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the l’Extraits but it’s just not a lipstick formula. And the little mirrors on the Guerlain lipsticks were more cute then the Rouge G mirrors are now.

I would be extatic if the would bring back JPs Fragile. That was my to go scent and then they discontinuid it. Why peeps, why? Never found a scent that I loved after that. I mean it. Other then the occasional tester and dissappointment I haven’t worn perfume since.

And why can’t Clinique make Black Honey everything permanent? Now I have to keep hopping on the bandwagon when they release and go back to something else when I run out. Still haven’t found a Black Honey dupe for eyeliner.

But Fragile, oh yes, Fragile. By god, I miss Fragile. JP, are you reading this? Bring.it.back.

  • Bonnie S.

CARVEN’s great perfume Ma Griffe – my first scent. So beautifully green and fresh. I had so many bottles when I was a teenager. Loved that scent!

  • Bonnie S.

OLAY makeup! Back before they were a skin care line, there was the pink Oil of Olay and then they had this gorgeous makeup line – 1980s I think. Anyways, their colours and formulations were gorgeous and sleek. And then the company changed direction and I lost interest, but I do remember how much I loved my Olay cosmetics!

  • Pamela

Redken facial soap and Redken hair spray for damp weather. I forget exactly the name but it never got sticky and it held just right. My hair still moved yet stayed in place.

The fragrance of that pink soap was heaven. It was all I used to wash my face for years. Never dried it out. I stockpiled that soap and spray when I found out they were discontinuing them. I flew to every place I knew they carried it before they got it off the shelves.

More recently I found out another one of my favorite products is discontinued. Smashbox photo finish primer. It just lit up the face when mixed with foundation. All my friends bought it after I started using it. RATS!

  • Rianne

Maybelline Liner Express! There are very similar products now (same tip and applicator), but it was the shape of the “pen” or something–I can never get the line as nice as I could with it back then! (Could also have to do with having fewer eye wrinkles??)

  • Shayne A

    Hiya Musey!! I miss you!

BBW’s Hello Sugar! spritz and lotion, and also their ‘Temptations’ line. I loved the Temptations. I remember one summer they did a Mango scent, a Coconut scent & a Berry scent. All of the body mists had these cute little cubes in the bottom as ice cubes. Then, they did a Cocktails collection and had these shimmer lotions in Pomegranate Martini, Pina Coloda and Melon Daiquiri. I adored those. Oh, and MAC Moon River. It was the most gorgeous piece of makeup I’d ever seen & was right when I was getting into MAC. I stalk it on eBay all the time.

  • SusanT

Wow, several things. Lancôme’s watery foundation, it’s so thin it’s like putting colored water on your face. Benefit’s sparkly Kitten powder. Chanel’s mousse foundation in a can. And Valentino’s first fragrance, “Valentino.”

  • Mel

Cant remember the actual brand but it was a purple razor that you bought replacable blades and left your skin sooo smooth,Oj beauty fluid, calgon lush lilac body spray, naturistics flowering hycinath pearl lipstick, original pantene plain shampoo and conditioner just to name a few. If anybody knows of similar products please post. Not about the shampoo. I get there are tons of variations now
