Oh man, I JUST bought my first contour kit last week (Anastasia)! I was desperate for a kit that was for those of us with pink undertones, and it was the only one that had shades that weren’t super yellow. BUT, now I see Cover FX has one has a kit specifically for pink undertones! Wondering if I should return it….if only I had waited!!

I wonder if you could just use a darker shade of face powder to contour with or is there something different or special about the actual contour kits? Maybe the formula makes them last longer on the face. I think this particular product is cream, though. Just wondering if it’s necessary to buy an actual kit?

Dee, in my opinion, yes you can just use a darker face powder or even a matte bronzer. That’s what I’ve been doing anyway and I think it works fine. In fact, I just bought the new Ulta contour/highlight palette and it is just powder. I think the kits are just easy to use because they typically come with instructions and usually have a few different contour shades for a variety of skintones. It’ll be nice to have some darker contour shades when it’s summer and I have a little bit tanner skin. But for the most part, if you have a darker powder that you can use I say go for it!
