Essence Longlasting Lipstick

Essence Longlasting Lipstick ($2.99) is a new beauty budget friendly lipstick that launched for Spring 2015 in 13 beautiful shades. Essence Longlasting Lipstick is marketed as a long wearing lipstick that keeps lips moist and nourished through the long wear.

Let’s take a look!

You gotta love Essence for creating three buck lipstick they can be pride of. These won’t wear several long hours as marketed but they are pigmented, have a lovely formula, and will wear for around four hours while being lightly hydrating and non-drying through that wear. And yeah, did I mention that sweet $2.99 price tag?

Funny thing these come housed in a plastic black barrel which is kinda a direct contrast to the lipstick which looks very high end in the tube. The lipstick has an etched E which kinda gives it this fancy high end feel and look however, the packaging is a flimsy and light but hey, it’s still looks nice and basic plus it has a convenient band around the center which let’s you know the color in the tube.

These don’t have a very pleasant taste, it’s kinda a subtle floral mixed with cardboard…! Honestly, it doesn’t bother me at all but it deserves mentioning none the less.

These have a lovely thin formula that glides easily onto lips. Initially they are a little tiny bit dense during the first application but as the top layer wears down you’ll find they have a slicker texture. They glide on smoothly and evenly with excellent pigment and a lightly moist feel. They aren’t super moisturizing but they do provide light moisture which is enough to keep them wearing comfortably on lips during the wear. I can get about four hours of wear and don’t feel these migrate, feather, or flake during that time. They feel as pleasant at hour four as they did during the first hour of application.

For $3 bucks? You really can’t beat the Essence Longlasting Lipstick! This is a nice beauty budget thrill!

Essence Longlasting Lipstick is available now at Ulta and Ulta.com.

I am not a red lipstick gal, but that red is really pretty. And for the price, what’s to lose? For three bucks I could get out of my comfort zone a bit.

  • Catheyoi

Gorgeous colors & you cant beat the price! What eye shadow are you wearing? Its really beautiful.

  • Joan

I have the Essence Long Lasting Lipstick in Wear Berries – a purple shade… It’s pretty awesome, I don’t know that it actually lasts longer than my others though!

  • LD

I recently tried a couple of these and I love them! The feel and look is that of a much more expensive product. I think I will pick up a few more colors.
A great find! Your review is spot on! :0)

  • Angel

I just bought two more of this this week. Great minds think alike 😉
Have you tried Barely There? It’s so pretty, it’s a gorgeous dusky pink/mauve. I really like these lipsticks a lot. They feel more expensive than they really are. I don’t have Dare to Wear yet but judging from your pics, I need it!

  • Fancie

Beautiful shades! I’ve never tried any Essence products but I like the way these look. The formula doesn’t sound too bad for the price either

Oh, wow! Those swatches are so pretty. For $2.99, they can’t spend much on packaging, but that’s ok, because they spent it on the product, where it counts!I think Essence is a really under-rated brand. Both colors look great on you !

Hi Muse!! Thanks so much for featuring these new shades! I absolutely love this formula! After viewing YT reviews, I purchased four shades at Ulta a few months ago. I am so excited to hear about these new colors. I currently have Natural Beauty, Wear Berries and On The Catwalk. Now I must purchase, “I Am Yours!” I agree that the texture is just lovely – smooth, light on the lips (I hate heavy lip product) and so pigmented.

  • Sara

Love the formula of these lipsticks and especially the price! Both colors look lovely on you.

  • Genevieve

It’s great to see a drugstore brand bringing out inexpensive lipstick that is of good quality. Love that red Dare to Wear. It looks great on you Isabella.

  • Teralissa

I just purchased one today in Natural Beauty. Took a few swipes to build pigmentation, but it’s gorgeous.
    Great review!

  • Faye

These have become some of my most worn lipsticks, because the shades I got are really flattering on me, especially Wear Berries and On the Catwalk. Natural Beauty is nice too. Coral Calling is a good shade, but I just don’t look as good in coral shades. 🙂 I like that you can build up the color or wear it sheer.

  • Sachini Gamage

Hi Muse, given your infinite wisdom when it comes to all things beauty can you please recommend a foundation/s that has enough coverage to cover pitted acne scars ? Thank you 🙂

  • Iwona

I am very surprised seeing essence on your website. I thought this brand was only available in Europe. I’ve tried some of these lipsticks, and I must say that they have more interesting shades than many other brands. They don’t stay very long on my lips, but I like that the finish is very natural, without glitter and a bit transparent.

    • Isabella Muse

hiya iwona! Ulta started carrying them a few years here in the US but sometimes we don’t always get the cool LE collections you guys do!

  • cat

These look very pretty on you but it’s such a chore to search out Essence products. Also, I’m worried about the fragrance. I need to figure out what I’m allergic to in lip products.

  • Ayman

Both shades looks great on you Muse. You always wear such gorgeous eyeshadow on your eyes. Very Pretty. I really like these lipsticks and I have managed to grab few shades like Coral Calling, Barely There, Natural Beauty and On the Catwalk. Now I am Yours is on my buying list.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks ayman! you’re lovely to say so. Awesome! I really want to try a few more shades myself!

  • Christine Joy Luikuo

Hi, Miss Muse! I’ve just bought this in the mall in the shade of Natural Beauty and it was on a promo so I got an XXXL Shine lipgloss for free. My first choice was On the Catwalk but I realized I have a couple of similar shades and they all look too vibrant/bright on me. Natural Beauty is nude in the tube but more pinkish on my lips. I just really don’t know why colors turns brighter on my lips. But I like this lipstick despite being dense on the first application as what you have stated in this review.

    • Isabella Muse

glad you like these (and got a free gloss too! SCORE 🙂 Christine! Def starts out a little dense but quickly becomes a very nice light formula ;-D for the price you gotta love ’em!

      • Christine Joy Luikuo

True enough. =) I was only looking for a decent but cheap mascara. Good thing I asked about the lipsticks. I wish they come in more colors because I want to try a dark, vampy lip color.

        • Isabella Muse

i’m trying their princess one, it’s kinda nice so far 🙂 cheap too! haha seems everyone wants to do a vampy lip for Spring, I must be stuck in the safe zone, all about neutrals for Spring!

  • Belle

I love these too! At first the scent bothered me a bit (I could taste it), but I must’ve gotten used to them. So nice to have a nice creamy budget friendly lipstick that isn’t too slippery like the NYX round lipsticks/butter lipsticks 🙂

    Thanks for featuring them!

    • Isabella Muse

aw my pleasure! Glad you ended up loving them Belle even though the scent and fragrance wasn’t to your liking :)(

  • Indian Budget Beauty Blog

I’m yours looks like a very pretty shade. I’d definetly buy it, all thanks to you for your review & swatches
