Make Up For Ever Give in to Me Alluring Color Set

Make Up For Ever Give in to Me Alluring Color for Eyes & Lips is a new makeup set inspired by the Fifty Shades of Grey movie that’s available for a limited time this Spring. This is actually one of four different limited edition sets that launched to celebrate Fifty Shades of Grey the Movie that Make Up For Ever introduced for Spring 2015.

Whether you’re a lover or hater of Fifty Shades of Grey you likely won’t be able to deny that this set is visually stunning (it comes housed in a gorgeous keepsake box!) and contains some very practical, wearable shades of gorgeous makeup!

Take a look!

The Make Up For Ever Give in to Me Alluring Color for Eyes & Lips is $79 with a value of $179 by Make Up For Ever and it includes:

  • 4 Full Size Artist Shadows housed in a Palette (Shades: I-514, ME-612, S-556, I-625)
  • Full Size Make Up For Ever Graphic eyeliner
  • Full Size Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant mascara
  • Full Size Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural lipstick in N4
  • Full Size Make Up For Ever Lab Shine lip gloss in D14
  • Keepsake Box

All of the above sans the keepsake box and the eyeshadow case comes out to $176 so add on $3 more for the case and the four pan palette. Needless to say purchasing the set is a great value!

The faux leather case is black with a pink border that surrounds it. Inside you’ll find the makeup embedded into a removable tray as well as a generously sized mirror. The case is split into one larger compartment as well as a smaller compartment that has a small door which opens with a silver heart key. The inside of this compartment has the same pale peachy pink lining as the border that surrounds the outer case. You can use the box to store makeup, jewelry, and other trinkets. Depending on if you’re a fan or not you’ll either hate or love the box. It does have sayings from the book on it such as “Obey, Sir, Laters Baby, Mr Grey will see you now” etc…either you’re completely revolted by this or your fandom loving heart is loving it. I read the books, I think Jamie Dornan is incredible (the Fall AHHH love!), and I appreciate the FSoG fandom as much as the next girl or guy. However, I appreciate that some folks aren’t into it and that’s fine but I think the box is likely going to make or break you on the selling point or perhaps anything having to do with the franchise might turn you off. It might have been better if they kept the sayings off the box as that would like garner interest in the set as it wouldn’t really have the “Fifty vibe” about it. Personally, as a fan girl that belongs to numerous fandoms (Supernatural, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Bleach, SAMCRO need I go on?) I appreciate the nod to Fifty Shades. I’m actually disappointed that the makeup compacts didn’t also have some nod to the books and film.

That last sentence actually brings me to the makeup part of this set. So if you’re averse to Fifty Shades and can get past the keepsake box you’ll be happy to know none of the makeup has any reference to the books or films. Everything comes in the regular solid black Make Up For Ever packaging.

My favorite part of the set is the Artist Shadows Palette but the formula is a little weird for me. The Artist Shadow line puzzles me (as does the blushes) as they are awful dense yet the formula somehow really looks amazing once you apply it. It’s truly a mystery to me! This palette actually offers three different looks and there is a step by step guide for getting the looks. The guide includes instructions for a natural, sultry, and an empowered look. The shades kinda threw me off a little bit as they don’t really jive well together and I feel like used together they ended up blending out muddy. However, with a little passion you can really create some beautiful looks. I’m not a big fan of taupe but the taupes in this palette really do something special for brown eyes! The shadow pans are removable so once you finish these shades you can refill the compact with other eyeshadows from the Artist Shadow range.

Also included in the set is really great shade of natural peachy beige lip color paired up with a golden pink shade of Lab Shine Gloss. Together these make for a perfect nude lip look that pairs up wonderfully with the palette. The lipstick has a soft, easy glide formula with a moist finish and a slight shine. The texture has a light balmy consistency with a sheer yet buildable color pay off that looks incredible paired up with the Lab Shine Gloss in D14. The Lab Shine Gloss formula is sheer on its own with a slightly tacky thinner consistency that adds beautiful shine and a hint of shimmer and tint to lips. Personally as a duo these two shades are a power house for creating a very natural lip color.

Also in the set is a Graphic liquid Eyeliner which has a fine precise point. If you’re an expert at lining eyes you’ll love this formula as it doesn’t drag and has a blacker than black finish. The one thing I disliked in this set was Make Up For Ever’s Smoky Mascara (review). I dunno…Make Up For Ever’s smoky range of mascaras have never done much for my lashes! No length, no real volume, it’s just a meh formula for me.

Although there’s a Make Up For Ever Desire Me Cheeky Blush Trio already, I really wish this set had a cheek color included as that would make it a complete set for eyes, lips, and cheeks. Heck I’d even pay a little more if they had given me at least one blush color!

All in all it’s a gorgeous set. Really beautifully packaged and at such a great value price too! If you’re either a fan of Make Up For Ever or Fifty Shades this is truly a set worth indulging in! Beautiful presentation and gorgeous makeup, what’s not to live?

This looks like such a great kit! The shadows look beautiful and I really like the lippies too. I haven’t even read the book yet but this collection is still so tempting lol. Everything seems to work so well together!

    • Isabella Muse

it really is a lovely set! oh gosh no need to read the book/see the film to enjoy this makeup 😀

  • devon

just when i told myself no…you pulled me back in! looove all of those colors!

    • Isabella Muse

lol! I know! I was like oh this isn’t a set I need and I tried it and was like holy cow taupe goodness!

  • Quinn

I’m gonna stay away because honestly, I don’t feel like giving anything to this franchise that A. Portrays BDSM as abuse and B. Is chock full of misogyny. Skipping it.

I got this set and totally love it!!! $179 worth of MUFE products for only $79, and all products are full size, no teeny samples. The box is really cute on my vanity. Even if you hated Fifty Shades, the makeup inside is top quality, all of the colors are very wearable, will go with many skintones. The shadows blend like a dream, they look warmer on me than the swatches. And best of all, that mirrored compact is refillable, so you can mix and match other MUFE shadows. My only critique is that the lipgloss is heavy on fragrance, but the sparkle is so pretty, and it makes my lips look full and pouty. LOVE!!! This is Limited Edition set, so grab it while you can!!

    • Isabella Muse

happy to hear you love Katherine! I thought it was an excellent deal as well!

  • mallory

love this set! The box went straight in the trash though because of the stupid sayings.

  • Genevieve

The palette looks really pretty and you did a lovely look with it. I am not a 50 Shades of Grey person, but I was hoping that the palette would hold shades of grey – as I love this colour on my eyes. However I think that the whole kit is a good purchase. Thank you for the review.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks Genevieve! 🙂 you’re most welcome glad you enjoyed the review!

  • Majick

I htink the makeup is the best part about the movie. I dind’t see it and I won’t until it’s on regular cable. I tried to read the first book but couldn’t get past the first couple pages.
It’s really too bad they had to muck up the box with words from the movie. I may or may not treat myself to this kit.

    • Isabella Muse

I saw it but none of the makeup from these sets seemed to have made it into the film. Dakota needed some serious concealer under her eyes in my opinion…there’s this part when he cups her face and they zoom in on her face and she’s super baggy. I guess they wanted to go with the “I’m a normal girl” look which is fine but at least conceal her baggy eyes haha…! Even when she got dressed up, I didn’t really notice her wearing a ton of makeup maybe she had berry lips from the berry lip set but aside from that I wouldn’t say they had her majorly made up! The book is great rubbish 🙂 just a no brain read! I love Jamie, so I couldn’t NOT see it 🙂 I think he’s pretty amazing and I’m kinda sad that no one got to see what a great actor he is because seriously he was a wooden stick in the movie and he’s capable of so much more. He’s brilliant in the Fall, terrible shame he didn’t display that sort of intensity in Fifty Shades!

  • cat

It ended up being a pretty gray on your eyes. How did that happen with those colors?

    • Isabella Muse

dunno cat, that’s the only shades I used, I guess they just blended together and created a taupe-y gray!

  • autumn

Can you tell me exactly what shades of the eyeshadow you used to get that look on your eyes. I have your skin tone and coloring and would love to try and re-create that look! Thanks.

    • Isabella Muse

hi autumn! I used S-556 in the crease and I-628 on the lid and a little black eyeliner on my bottom waterline!

  • Crocus

    Hey!

Could you tell dupe for these I-628 and S-556 eyeshadow in Mac? I couldn’t find them -.- Thanks!
