Mario Badescu Buttermilk Moisturizer

Mario Badescu Buttermilk Moisturizer ($18) is my secret weapon against the polar vortex! I went to dinner with a friend last night and he said to me, “Iz, you’re always bitching about your dry skin but I can’t a single flaky area that you’re always whining about!”.

I know, that’s because Mario Badescu Buttermilk Moisturizer is on the case!

Mario Badescu Buttermilk Moisturizer doesn’t technically contain buttermilk but seriously, doesn’t the name kinda sound yummy!? I typically haul this out on days I really need extra moisture and considering the weather has been brutal lately this is in fact a life saver.

Apparently this contains lactic acid but honestly I don’t feel like that’s an effective AHA for me as there doesn’t seem nearly enough in this formula to actually visually effect my complexion. However….the real deal is the amount of moisture this provides.

This comes in a squeeze bottle and is a bright aqua blue shade. It is heavily scented which means sensitive users might not love it. I don’t mind much in all honesty but I can see it being irritating to sensitive users.

It’s a thicker gel formula that absorbs easily into skin but user beware, a little goes a very, very, very long way. I typically use it as a pre-prep for my moisturizer or sometimes a face primer after my moisturizer. A little dot is all I need to cover my entire face. I actually reserve using it for colder days because it’s a little too much moisture for say the Summer or even a day that it’s 60 outside. If you apply too much you’ll likely feel quite slick throughout the day as this has a knack for retaining moisture. It really excels at providing all day hydration.

The texture works amazingly as a face primer of sorts as it creates a dewy, slick surface for foundation. If you have drier skin you likely have issues with powders or even creams that adhere to drier areas or you might experience issues with your foundation dragging during application. This creates a smooth well hydrated area for your foundation to apply easily onto. More moisture means your foundation looks fresher, smoother, and more even!

It’s seriously a total secret weapon to making my skin more supple and younger looking!

Moral of the story?

If you have drier skin Mario Badescu Buttermilk Moisturizer will deliver in injection of super moisture to your skin and have people complimenting you on your gorgeous skin!

Loves it!
