Do they live up to the hype?
Well, I admit, I didn’t expect much from NYX High Voltage Lipstick at a glance. I got them last week, looked at them, and wondered what was so high voltage about them. They are a very assuming lipstick.
These comes housed in a simple, very uneventful packaging with a clear cap and a black bottom barrel. The casing is that of a slim lipstick and it holds 0.09 oz of product. Just the entire presentation screams boring but they are anything BUT!

NYX High Voltage Lipstick Swatches (Rock Star, Sweet 16, Hollywood, Rags to Riches, Free Spirit, Tiara)
These just took me by complete surprise. It’s a lesson in not judging a book by it’s cover because these pack pigment in slick, lightweight formula that wears for five hours. They are vibrant, pigmented, fully opaque on a single pass, and completely pigmented and color rich. One would expect a heavier formulation in a lipstick as pigmented as this but that’s not the case in the least. The formula is slick, glides on beautifully with a moist, comfortable feel. It’s very lightweight and feels beautiful on my dry lips. Initially it’s very slick with a certain glossiness but the glossiness wears down a little bit through the wear but color remains intense. I didn’t have issues with colors migrating or feathering. The formula is very soft and supple on lips. They do have a faint plastic-y vanilla fragrance and flavor but I wasn’t bothered in the least by it!
