edward bess

Confession, I buy Edward Bess makeup because I crush on that boy so hard! Swoon! He just has such classically beautiful features. And the hair…oh the hair…!

But really, I also buy it because he has some incredible offerings (although I’m still trying hard to get on with his concealer formula) like this new Mass Artiste Eyeshadow Palette.

Somehow, someway I’ve become obsessed with matte eyeshadow. Gulp! Did I just say that? I’m the girl that eats shimmer on her cornflakes in the morning why am I preaching the joys of matte eyeshadow? I dunno…must be the Spring trend bug that bit me but I’ve been hitting my small stash of matte eyeshadows hard lately and have contemplated all matte palettes like it’s my job!

Edward Bess Matte Artiste Eye Shadow Palette

And yeah, I simply had to order the Edward Bess Matte Artiste Eye Shadow Palette for Spring 2015.

The Edward Bess Matte Artiste Eye Shadow Palette ($75) is an eight pan shadow palette featuring matte eyeshadow tones sans shimmer and sparkle of any kind with a soft milled texture for easy application and blending.

The shades feel like something I’d use in fairly common looks and range from smoky to nudes for softly diffused matte eyes.

I’ve listened to many of you tell me over the years how the right matte eyeshadow formula can be game changing! And I have to say I’m finally in agreement, well, almost anyway because I can’t give up my shimmer eyeshadow addiction just yet.

I don’t wanna grow up!

The Edward Bess Matte Artiste Eye Shadow Palette is available now at neimanmarcus.com.

Oh man, I love all matte palettes! Gray mattes can be tempermental, I’ll be interested to see swatches of this one.

He is stunning, without a doubt.

    • Isabella Muse

swatches upcoming! It should be on my doorstep tomorrow so maybe next week! He really is!

  • diane

Oh count me in on the EB crush club! I always show his hair to Tommie and say this should be his length goal but he says it’s way too long ;( I’ve been wanting to try some EB stuff from QVC, especially the Hair Hero cream!

    • Isabella Muse

tommie’s hair is growing at snail pace. We need to do something ASAP because the hair band police might arrest him for having hair that’s too short. hehe 😀 omg imagine him with Edward Bess length? That would be crazy. You guys would get all tangled up in each other literally! Cutes! ;-D

      • diane

hahaha you think so? I think it’s growing fast! The back is at his shoulders. I’ll take a pic of the back and text it to you but sshhhh!! LOL Bahahaha I could just imagine his hair at EB’s length! I asked him again yesterday and he said it would be way too annoying for him. Poop. I’d probably use it as a blanket and pet it nonstop. I already pet his hair a bit too much -_-

        • Isabella Muse

i saw the pic! haha 😀 LOLLLLLLL! you’re too cute. You guys are adorable 🙂

  • Margo

Ooh I just adore him. I saw this palette on QVC a few weeks ago and almost pulled the trigger!

    • Isabella Muse

didn’t see it on the Q! Probably missed a beauty mortgage on it too BOOO!

      • Angie L.

Don’t feel bad! No beauty mortgage was offered during his presentation! But there was an ez pay day 🙁 I didn’t get this (only one of a few I didn’t) lol 🙂

  • barbara

I had never heard of Edward Bess before until about a month ago when Sephora had several of his products on the sale page periodically for about a week. I snatched the concealer, blush, lipstick and the all over face powder. I was too slow for the eye palettes and eye and lip palette, but was sooo wanting this off QVC. His concealer is great!!!

    • Isabella Muse

GRRR wish I got on with his concealer but it doesn’t work for me *stamps feet*

    • Isabella Muse

OMG STOP! I just paid $75 on Neiman Marcus STHU! haha! Looks the same to me! shoot!

  • dgalvez04

I’m sorry, Muse. You can call Neimas and cancel I’ve done that. On QVC the palette is coming out to 63.55 with tax and free shipping.

    • Isabella Muse

not too too big a difference 🙂 it’s actually arriving tomorrow darn! I’ll just keep it 😀 don’t be sorry happens my dear!

It’s so funny you posted this today as I was close to making an Edward Bess eye shadow purchase but then noticed on the back “Made in PROC” (People’s Republic of China). Are you kidding me? For the price of his line, it should be made somewhere that levels of lead are regulated! It was a pass for me, and as much as I am obsessed with matte shadows, so is this.

    • Isabella Muse

no way! is it? I know you feel about MIC palettes! Sorry chica!

  • Christina D.

No apologies, my sista from another mista. Saved me some $.

BTW it was Hautelook that I was checking out. They have some of his line deeply discounted but it ends today. Now I can say it to you: Happy Hauling!

    • Isabella Muse

hey sis! I ended up getting it from Nemain Marcus, you now me I’m all over the place even if it was MIC ;-D Shut up! lol! don’t do that! Now my life savings is going to Edward Bess clearance 😀

  • Christina D.

Maybe this palette isn’t made in China, but the ones being sold on Hautelook are. You have to let me know if this one is because if it isn’t, and since it is all mattes, I’m all over it!

It’s one thing to purchase an inexpensive palette and find out it’s made in PROC. But Edward Bess is far from inexpensive and shouldn’t be cheaping out on manufacturing.

  • amy

It’s not always a matter of “cheaping out”, but just having less restrictions. Yes, it is less expensive to manufacture in China, but due to EPA, labor, taxes, etc…, it is often cost prohibitive to manufacture elsewhere, particularly with a brand that has such a comparatively small distribution. Just because something is “Made In China” doesn’t mean there is no oversight from the brands country of origin. When we hear about “issues” like contamination with products MIC, 99.9% of the time they are of Chinese brands. Besides, even products made in the US have been deemed contaminated, such as apple juice & California wines, plus countless recalls of other products (plus how much “US grown” food products have been recalled, most recently Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, which had small pieces of metal in it?). I’m not saying you should change ypur view, but maybe more research should be done.

  • babysteps

I had my concerns about this issue also, having bought from the Hautelook sale myself.
What I discovered was that at one point, EB did move his operations to PROC. He moved them back to the USA because of the uproar over that move.
The blushes that were for sale on Hautelook were his discontinued blushes, so I believe the cosmetics featured in that sale were older stock and their prices were reduced for quicker sale.
The lip glosses, and, I believe, the lipsticks that were on Hautelook are made in Italy and USA. The ones I had purchased at a discount on another site were anyway.

  • Garrett

My gosh is good looking. My hair is long for a guys but nowhere near that gorgeous. #hairgoals

  • Michele

This is also available on QVC. I bought it and used it three times and just recently returned it. Most of the colors are dark and just didn’t go with my skin tone that well. Also every time you open the palette, the brush rolls into the colors.

  • Genevieve

This eyeshadow palette would be very popular with matte lovers I think. It has all the shades.
Would I buy it? No – because I am not a matte fan and already have enough in my stash already.
I have often wondered whether the cosmetic products sold on Haute look are current or older stock. I think sometimes they are if you look at the colours. Anyway, I don’t buy anything from Hautelook because their international shipping rates are outrageous.

  • Belle

Did you ever end up reviewing this? I was thinking about the eyeshadow singles that were released in his original line and am sad that they have disappeared. I hope this new palette will be good! I’m a little sad that many of the original items from his line are no longer around. I remember visiting him at Bergdorf and having him do my makeup… It was incredible! His hair really is that amazing in real life, totally swoonworthy!

    • Isabella Muse

I didn’t sorry Belle! I got a bit busy with everything else I had going on 🙂 He’s def as incredible in person as he is in photos 🙂

      • Belle

Ah, bummer! Not too many people have been reviewing his newer products. Well, I hope you had a chance to use it and enjoy it, even if you didn’t get around to writing a review!

        • Isabella Muse

I’m sorry! I’ll try to get a review up! I actually took photos/swatches but everything else got pushed up before it 🙂 I agree, not many people write about his stuff and he has some very nice stuff (aside from the stick concealer, didn’t love that).
