Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation Review & Swatches

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation ($7) is a new Invisible Camouflage Foundation launching with the Hard Candy Spring/Summer 2015 Collection that will be available in 8 permanent shade selections.

Hi, I’m the Muse, I’m a foundation and concealer snob. If there is one thing in the makeup world I believe in splurging on it would be 1. foundation and 2. concealer. I am under the impression that I cannot for the life of me not only find a color match from drugstore foundations or concealers but also find a formula I actually LIKE using. Some are too heavy, some too cakey, others are orange, too beige…it’s just a sea of foundations that just do not work for me. Rarely am I able to actually find a foundation product at the drugstore that I’m happy with! Likewise for concealer (although the drugstore concealer world has been making some huge strides lately)!

I present you with Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation and challenge you to buy it and use it. And proceed to love it.

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation 2

I purchased Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation in Light last week and proceeded to use it for a total of eight days and all through those eight days I was a very happy girl. Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation is marketed as containing superfine pigments for seamless full coverage without looking caked-on. It’s infused with kaolin clay that’s excellent for oil absorption. They promise the wear to be up to 12 hours.

Since I was talking about drugstore concealer above and how it’s come a long way from the dry, cake formulas from days of old I should likely mention that Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer is one of those new age, creamy, extremely pigmented concealers that’s budget friendly and has an excellent formula that applies easily and wears long and hard!

I was a little worried that Hard Candy Glamouflauge Foundation would be as pigmented as its concealer sister. I don’t desire full coverage foundation but prefer something lighter and sheerer since my complexion doesn’t need a ton of concealer. I just want something to ease dullness, brighten, and even out skin tone. Lucky enough, although they shade the same name, Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation is actually quite customizable and can be worn sheer or built up to almost medium coverage!

The other thing that worried me was the fact they call it a liquid to powder formula that absorbs oil. I have drier skin so this didn’t seem like a match made in foundation heaven.

Lucky enough it works great for me.

This comes housed in a 1.1 oz pump jar. The pump works great! I had no issues with it sticking nor did it pump too much out. I felt the flow was great and the packaging good. My only compliant was there is a wrap surround the top and when I removed it, it left a very sticky residue on the bottle which annoyed me.

The formula isn’t a traditional cream or liquid foundation. I would say it runs more towards me a thicker fluid and on some levels reminds me of Shiseido Perfect Refining Foundation on texture. It applies very, very smoothly without adhering or sticking to drier areas. It does have a slight matte powder-y dry down but I thought it looked more satiny soft than matte. It wasn’t dry, it wasn’t cakey, it was however, soft, seamless, and very flawless. The light shade did run a bit darker but it still brightened up my skin, provided skin evening coverage, and looked very natural on my skin. I can’t speak for oil control as I am a bit dry right now but you can feel the formula transforming as you apply so it does have powder set but as I said nothing that made my skin look drier or that adhered to the flakier areas on my face.

I’m all about natural, seamless coverage and that’s exactly what this provided. On days my skin was looking lackluster I couldn’t easily build this to almost medium coverage. There’s plenty enough pigment here to even out skin tone, conceal redness or darkness, and minor blemishes, etc…! And on the days my skin wasn’t looking dull I could easily get away with sheerer application that just brightened up and evened out my skin tone.

Wear time was quite good for me as I got about 6 hours in before seeing very minor fading issues!

All in all Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation proved an excellent beauty budget foundation. I’m still amazed I paid $7 for this. I really enjoyed it. Excellent wear, beautiful formula, and an affordable price tag? I like!

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation surprises and delights and proves that you don’t have to pay a ton of money for foundation to look flawless.

It’s available now exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com.

I have heard other great reviews about this Muse!! Glad you liked it..I’ll definitely be picking this up! Question..how did you like to apply it? Fingers, buffing brush?

  • Angela Martin

How did you apply the foundation? with a sponge or brush? I am curious how this would work with my oily skin. Awesome review. Thanks.

    • Isabella Muse

I apply with fingers 🙂 thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Think it’ll do well with oily skin just not super oily!

  • Cinthya

Out of all the reviews I’ve seen, everyone has loved this foundation! I’ve been eager to try it and I have been waiting for your review. You’ve convinced me to try it. I hope I love it as much as you do:)! Thanks for the review Muse!

  • Steph

What does it smell like? So many drugstore foundations have a smell I just can’t handle putting on. Almost an overly chemical smell. But great reveiw I will have to try it out.

    • Isabella Muse

it’s not chemical, it does have a slight smell though, very subtle, kinda plastic? Not super in your face omg this stinks though Steph!

  • Carol G

Well now, I’m going to have to try this! It sounds really nice. And for $7! There were some other HC items I wanted to check out too so I guess it’s off to Walmart tomorrow…

  • Jae

OMG! I bought this pretty much right when it came out, and there were NO reviews on it. I thought “oh well, might as well just try it!” and then it turns out that I love it. I bought Fair, and it matches my skin-tone perfectly (I’m an NC15/NC20, depending on the time of the year). I apply with a sponge but it has quickly become my favourite go-to foundation. I’m so glad that people are now reviewing it (and liking it!) because I wasn’t sure if I was just crazy for liking a foundation that’s so cheap. Thanks for making me feel less crazy 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

fantastic Jae so happy to hear it 🙂 haha you’re not crazy! it’s pretty awesome!

  • Brooke Jones

Muse, I accept your challenge ! I will be picking this up today! I love the Hard Candy line and was so excited to see your review! Have you tried their Brows Now? It is like Benefit Gimme Brow on one end and has a beautiful brow highlighter on the other end. It is a much wetter formula than Gimme Brow which was a total win for me. I think you would enjoy it. These reviews make my day! Thank you so much !!

    • Isabella Muse

yay! 🙂 hope you like. I haven’t. My brows are very full so I don’t use anything to fill them! I’m glad it worked for you though 🙂 the highlighter sounds nice though!!!!!!! 😀 aw thank you Brooke that means a lot to me 🙂

      • Shantale Miller

If I’m NC 45 in Mac what is the closest shade in your foundation??

  • Lacy

I can always get down with hard candy. …Makes a dash to her closest walmart to find this…. I hope I can find a shade that works

Great review! and i’m sure this is trivial but seriously – Thank You – for taking the time out of your busy schedule to maintain a beauty blog. I look forward to coming home from work and reading your reviews daily. Plus I generally find if you like something, I in turn have an equally great experience. 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

yay! hope you like Lace! thank you lacy, that means a lot to me. I’ve been so swamped lately and I haven’t had time for as much updating as I would like and I greatly appreciate you noticed I was busy at work and haven’t had time to do posts but still appreciated the ones I did, Thank you very much 🙂

  • reen

    always love ur reviews!

I have dry skin too, so I’m hoping it works well on me, since it worked well on ur skin!

the glamoflauge concealer was too dry, but I have to buy this asap!

  • Sarah

I just picked this up-due in large part to your review and the idea of a foundation with kaolin clay (a skincare staple of mine) and while I only tested it on my hand so far I find it has a VERY similar feel to the unique and lovely texture of the Hourglass Immaculate foundation…I’m hoping my theory holds up and I can save myself $40+ on foundation!

  • Melissa

I saw this at Walmart last night when I was there. Should have read your review before then and picked it up. I might have to give this a try. Can I ask what are some of your favorite face primers? I think my skin is like yours some dry spots and when it gets warmer oily skin. I currently use from Tarte the cc colored clay primer and like it because it has some color and seems to help cover some of my redness but doesn’t seem to last long. I’m wanting to try a different one. Thanks!!!

    • Isabella Muse

Hiya Melissa I just replied to you about this in another thread 🙂 did you see it?

  • Amanda

Thank you for the wonderful review, it sounds great!! I have this and their new primer on my “to try” list, too bad I have to go to walmart to get it womp womp!

    • Isabella Muse

you’re very welcome 🙂 the new primer is great!!!!!!!!!! I know I hate walmart!

  • Brittany

Do you think these shades run dark or light? I heard a few mix things. I’m not sure what color I would use. Thanks!

  • Melanie

This is my new favourite Foundation!! (I use a beauty blends to apply as I find my fingers or brush streaky) I love that it has a pump & usually only 1 pump is needed. I love that the bottle is plastic so it great for travel or keeping in your purse without thinking it may break. Hard Candy really has come out with some great stuff this year, once I found this I bought 2 bottles because it’s hard to find in my area & $7 is ridiculous for this nice of a product!

  • catherine yao

hi may i know what would be suitable shade for NC25 mac pro longwear if i get this foundation?

  • Britney

OK I must be in the twilight zone because everyone says great things about this but I have failed to receive an positive results when using this product. I have tried switching out moisturizers, brushes, primers… literally everything I could think of and stillet Hard candy’s glamoflauge always looks cake and blotchy after about 10 min of finishing the whole process. I have no idea wh.at is wrong here. I do not have skin that requires special makeups or care. I don’t have this problem with any other foundation except cover girl and sometimes rimmel. any advice?

    • Isabella Muse

I apply moisturizer and primer and it goes on perfectly Britney!

  • Tiffany

Hard candy has changed not only the packaging but the formula. What was one a 1.1fl oz is now 0.67 fl oz for the same price. The new formula applies DRASTICALLY different from the original one. Hate that they not only changed the product, but were sneaky enough to give 1/2 the product at the same price. They definitely just lost a customer.

If I’m NC 45 in Mac what is the closest shade in your foundation??

Where can I find a view of all the camouflage Foundation shades
