Maybelline Baby Lips Buds Lip Balm Review & Swatches
Petal Rebel and Oh Orchid! are two, limited edition Maybelline Baby Lips Buds Lip Balm shades that are launching for Spring 2015.
Whether you’re a fan or not so much a fan Maybelline has a knack for drawing us all in with each brand new release of their Baby Lips Collection. When I was a child I remember being obsessed with the idea of owning and having to have every single Bonnie Bell Lip Balm flavor around. If I’m honest with myself I still have that crazy, impulsive need to just OWN them all.
The same holds true for Maybelline Baby Lips!
Maybelline Baby Lips Buds LIp Balm is the 6th or so variation of the product. We have Baby Lips Crystal (my personal fav), the original formula, Dr Rescue, Electro, and the list goes on and on….! I guess when you have a great selling product you might as well run with the idea.
Do you have an obsessive need to own all the Baby Lips in the makeup world?
Maybelline Baby Lips Buds Lip Balm are only available in two limited edition shades as far as I know. I haven’t seen any other shades which is odd as typically these collections have around five shades released. The colors are all very Spring forward making them a nice pick up for Easter Baskets so you can look forward to a paler pink shade and a pretty unique shade of lilac.
I find with age the Maybelline Baby Lips formula has improved. Originally I felt they were a very basic lip balm and in some ways they still are but they have improved considerably since I first tried them upon their launch. I find the formula softer, a bit moister (although not where near 8 hours of hydration as they promise), I also find the shades are a bit more pigmented.

Maybelline Baby Lips Buds Lip Balm Swatches (Oh Orchid! and Petal Rebel)
In this case, both Petal Rebel and Oh Orchid! do show up well on lips! Sure, they are sheer, but not so sheer you can’t differentiate between the shades. They have a soft citrus-y fragrance and they give lips a nice hint of moisture, a little shine, and a nice bit of color. The texture is smooth, soft, and has a nice shiny look on lips. The original formula I always felt laid on lips in an unnatural way but since that release two or three years ago I find the texture has improved and feels much nicer and more natural on my lips.

Maybelline Baby Lips Buds Lip Balm aren’t an absolute must have for me but I realize many like these and will find the release of two new shades exciting! Particularly, Oh Orchid! I see as being very popular! If you’re looking for a fun and inexpensive little beauty treat for Easter Baskets these new Maybelline Baby Lips Buds Lip Balm shades are a cute little bit of beauty to tuck into those baskets!
