Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Blusher 3

Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Blusher in Casablanca ($11.99) is a new, limited edition blush sphere that launched with the Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Spring 2015 Makeup Collection.

I admit to falling in love with this at a glance because not only do I love coral blushes with a passion but also because I thought the packaging was too cute! It quite reminded me of the new Ciate Blush spheres as well as the Guerlain Meteorites Bubble Blush. When you have great packaging it does draw me in for sure!

But I digress what really caught my eye about the new Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Blusher was the color. I’m a mush for corals! This is such a fabulous shade of orange-y coral with incredible pigmentation!

Take a look!

Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Blush

Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Blusher comes in a small dome sphere 0.05 oz of blush. The packaging reminds me of lip balm style packaging that we’ve seen from EOS and Philosophy! It’s cute and quite very travel friendly (I didn’t feel it was delicate or would break if I tossed it into my makeup bag)!

The shade was created specifically with bronzer in mine as the color gives cheeks a pop of fresh color on top of bronzer so you can get that just stepped out of the sun look! It’s super pigmented so a little goes a long way which leads me to the packaging issue I had. The packaging is darling however, impractical if you have plans to actually apply the blush directly onto your face. Since it is so pigmented applying directly means you’ll end up with a bit of a clown-y cheek issue going on. It’s not a cream blush although you might mistakenly think it is at a glance. It’s powder! And powder “dabbed” onto your cheeks just doesn’t work well. If it was a cream, sure, you can probably dab this gently on and blend on. But as a powder, no go. What I did was dip my blush brush into the pot and swept over my cheeks. As you can see from my photos below I went a little crazy and applied a lot to show how intense the shade was. I had absolutely no problems using my brush and the pot together. My blush brush fit fine into the top of the blush and picked up plenty of powder. I’m unsure at some point what will happen when it wears down but as of now it works fine this way.

The powder is soft, silky, and blends beautifully. Do tap your brush off though as it is extremely pigmented! This could prove a good thing if you’re using bronzer or doing contour work prior as the color will show atop your bronzer beautifully. However, without bronzer the color is intense so apply sheer and build slowly for the best results. The color wears for a solid 12 hour period without fading and stays vibrant and fresh through the entire wear!

Casablanca, the name of the shade, is a delightful orange-y coral. It shows more orange on my cheeks and likely will show the same across many tones as it does have a very strong orange undertone. It’s very pretty and kinda reminds me of the intensity of Maybelline Coral Burst.

All in all this was an excellent purchase! Fresh, vibrant, long wearing, and cutesy packaging make for a great blush experience!

Hi Muse. This color looks so nice on you. I like the coral blushes also. I just think that $11.99 for only .05 ounces of blush is pricey, especially for Target makeup. Just my opinion.

thanks Maria! should last a while though as it is quite pigmented! hopefully a sale pops up and you can grab it for less!

Grr! I was hoping this would be a dud.
I think I might be needing this! I’m just scared to go get it because I know I’m going to want some of the other new things… And then I’ll turn around and check out pixies line (which is literally across from Sonia Kashuks). My poor poor wallet.
