Wen Honey Lilac Spring Cleansing Conditioner Launches

Wen Honey Lilac Spring Cleansing Conditioner

Wen Honey Lilac Spring Cleansing Conditioner peeks its head out for Spring 2015! I always get excited about new seasonal Wen Cleansing Conditioner selections and typically they are on my instant buy list but I may wait to hear the reviews on Honey Lilac before indulging as the last few fragrances have disappointed me.

I didn’t love Summer Honey Peach, wasn’t impressed with Tuscan Pear, and didn’t even bother with White Citrus!

I’m a little wary of Honey Lilac as I’m envisioning it as a bitter floral (much like Honey Peach was)! I’ll wait for the reviews for now and cherish limited edition fragrances from the past I do love.

What do you think?

Does Wen Honey Lilac Spring Cleansing Conditioner have a chance to make it into your haircare stash?

It’s available now at QVC.com.

I love Wen products but the total number of “flavors” is getting a bit much. I have so much Wen that I will never be able to use it all. I, too, am wary of the new fragrance. I love honey and I love lilac but I don’t know about them together. Will have to wait and see.

    • k

I’m so glad someone wrote out there about these new seasonals; I too have found these new honey seasonals to not hold a fragrance like the original seasonals–I don’t know if the fragrance and honey can’t hold or what? Yes, it’s moisturizing but I”m starting to steer back towards the originals and I can’t quite put my finger on why. Unless the new summer one that comes out for 2015 really impresses me, I think I’m going to stop getting the seasonals. I too would get so excited with Winter Vanilla mint—but these new ones just aren’t doing it for me.

  • Majick

I just got the seasonal TSV from the Q. I’m only using winter mint right now LOL. The last time I bought a 5 bottle set it lasted me 1/2 my life. THis will take a long time to use up. I do hope I like the fragrances.
At least I also got the traditional ones (fig, SAM, etc.) I think fib is my favorite but I can’t always use them or my hair starts to get flat.
I really like switching up my poo and conditioners depending on my mood and hair style of the moment. WEN is great in the summer – so quick and easy.

  • Nicole

Hi Isabella! Well, when my 32oz bottle of Spring Honey Lilac arrives you know I am good for a review! 😉 I also ordered the March TSV in the new Mandarin Italian Fig (it is a new addition to the rice based treatment line which currently has only one formula, that being the Bamboo Green Tea) so depending on what arrives first and my mood based on the craptastic Wisconsin weather we are having at the moment will depend on what I use that day in the shower. 😋
If you need any information on the March TSV just let me know… You know I love to share what I know to help anyone with questions! 😃
March is ending up to be a pricey month for me with the WEN seasonal & TSV and the IT Cosmetics TSV! 💰

    • Isabella Muse

haha yes you’re the wen queen Nicole! 🙂 You’ll have to give us the low down on the TSV for March ;D

      • Nicole

I hope that helps anyone who is curious about the TSV. I am happy answer any questions I can for anyone. I have used WEN exclusively since December 2009 and never looked back. 😊

          • Nicole

Not a problem! 😊 You really should give your BGT CC a try; I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the results. 😊

          • Isabella Muse

I’ll try it Nicole typically your recs are spot on! btw did you get the wen perfume? I purchased and liked it (it wears a little short though)

  • Violet

I too am waiting on the reviews for the Spring Honey Lilac. I did get the White Citrus and loved it. It was a soft citrus scent with a green tea back note to it. Left my hair full of body and it also foams up to a lather so I can use less. I have my doubts about the lilac. If lilac isn’t done right you could end up smelling like your grandmother’s sachets. Also, why the honey? It doesn’t seem like it would compliment the lilac. Honey and peach made more sense to me, but I didn’t try it because of the reviews.

    • Isabella Muse

LOL violet yeah I fear that myself with lilac 🙂 I didn’t like honey peach all that much, the more I use it the more I’m convinced it smells like just peed on dandelions lol!

  • Katmary

I too am going to wait and read the reviews prior to ordering. Same goes with the TSV as I need the more moisturizing of the CCs. I wish they were universal like Chaz says, but my thicker, wavy/curly hair needs more moisture than is in most the CCs, leaving me with Fig, Tea Tree, Honey Peach, and sometimes 613. Winter Mint I can use if I add one of the others, and the rest I’d need to at least go half and half for them to work. I know for many, Honey Peach was one of the more conditioning and a lot of people loved the way it worked on their hair. I don’t know if Lilac Honey has the same 4 combo of honey that was so moisturizing, but it worked for a lot of people. Of course, then there’s the lilac scent, I hope it smells decent! I guess we’ll be waiting to see~!

    • Isabella Muse

I agree katmary, they are NOT all formulated for one hair type because some formulas work better on me than others. I think the one that works the very best for me was the Almond!

  • Nicole

Yes I did get the 6 13 Eau de Toilette and I do love it! For some people it really does not last long, one me I can use 2 sprays and still smell it at bedtime. Either way the EdP of 6 13 is due to be released this year so for those who had trouble with the staying power (longevity technically I guess, lol) the EdP will likely be the answer to that issue. 👍
BGT is a different animal, it is so light that my first time using it I was in the shower thinking, “great, my hair will look like I was playing with a light socket! I was so wrong! The shine from the CC is incredible! Just a reminder though, this is treatment based so although the protein in BGT is less than 6 13, you still could OD your hair on protein if you used it every single time you cleansed your hair.
Another thing about the rice based CCs, they rinse out so much easier and faster than the soy or wheat based CCs. 😀
Let me know what you think when you try it Isabella, the TSV will beat my SHL to my home, but when it arrives I will make sure to review it! 😊

    • Isabella Muse

OO excellent news I’ll totally dig the EDP 😀 sounds good looking forward to more deets thanks girl!

      • Nicole

Well a little birdie did leak some other information about upcoming WEN products in 2015… 😁
Aside from the 6 13 EdP being released (I don’t have an exact date) but, he (Chaz Dean) usually tends to launch 6 13 products on the date June 13th because the date and creation of that line honors very special people that were a part of his life. 😇 Other products we may look forward to seeing in 2015 possibly include a Six Thirteen CC in a rice-based formula, WEN Men’s Defining Paste and Men’s Treatment Oil, and I would consider thinking about how you feel about Lime Verbena as a summer scent. 😉

          • Nicole

I am excited to see what summer brings! I love lime and plant verbena around the edges of 3 of my large flowerpots in the front of our home every spring!
By the way Isabella, have you ever tried any of the WEN styling creme, nourishing mousse, or any of the WEN styling products or treatment products like the treatment oils or re-moist hydrating hair masks?

          • Isabella Muse

just the hair/face mist/style cream! Also the hair oil! But nothing else 🙂 verbena smells divine in the Spring 🙂

  • Nicole

I really would strongly suggest trying the nourishing mousse. I would wait until you find a seasonal scent you love and then order the matching mousse. There is usually an OTO on QVC where you get the seasonal mousse and styling creme for a steal! Like for less than the price of one of the products. The mousse is one thing I will never be without. It is nothing like mousse you would by in a store or salon. It makes your hair so soft and so easy to styling if you chose to do so. You might want to checkout the 6 13 nourishing mousse video on QVC so you have a better ideal of what I am trying to explain. 😄

    • Isabella Muse

I’ll give it a whirl Nicole! Your reviews are typically spot on 🙂 I’ll order it now if they might have it in apple! I’ll go have a look see thanks girl!

      • Nicole

Check eBay for the Fall Apple Spice, he only brings the the current seasonal products out during that season. (I LOVE Fall Apple Spice too, but have only have a stock of the CC.) I will do some digging and if I find something on FAS I will let you know if I find out anything about his plans for next years seasonal scents. Unfortunately he said he could not guarantee we would see them all again in 2015-2016 like we did this past year.
Girl start calling or emailing or both at http://www.ChazDean.com the more people that request something he is more likely to do it because he tends to try to please his customers. Also, if you are on any social media sites post it there too! I am not on social media or I would add my comments there too. Don’t worry I will keep you up to date with what I know! 😊

  • janessa

any update on the Lilac scent?? I’m so tempted but might just go with the Gardenia. It’s been my favorite so far.

As for the Fall Apple Spice, I have 2 32oz unopened bottles that I would be more than happy to part with. I cannot stand the scent. Feel free to email me, Muse, if you want them 🙂

    • Nicole

      Hi janessa!
All I am waiting for is my mail to arrive and the I will at least me able to give you an idea of how it smells on my hands. I will use it for my next cleanse this evening and update you on how it performs and if the sent lingers in the hair and if it is light or strong. Anything you want me to answer I will do my best!
Just a little reminder today, 03/11/2015, is easy does it day on QVC so all WEN items along with everything else is on 4 easy payments! 😃

REVIEW: Spring Honey Lilac is a winner in my book! I know this may not help many of you but the species of lilac this scent reminds me most, of out of all the lilacs we have smelled based on my notes and memory over my past going on two years searching for the perfect lilac bush for our landscape, is the ‘Blanche Sweet’ (Syringa x hyacinthiflora). It has a fresh, slightly sweet, light fragrance. It blooms in early spring and has bluish violet buds that open into light bluish flowers that change over time to a mix of white and bluish or light violet shade overtime.
As I smelled the SHL CC I immediately thought, “Wow, Chaz captured the scent of a true lilac flower (not easy I may add, because they end up smelling so synthetic and overpowering in most cases) with incredible accuracy!” It is a true lilac scent; it smell fresh, clean, and there is also in many cases an underlying scent that is slightly sweet (in a floral way, not like a piece of candy 🍭, LOL). I do not find this scent overwhelming at all; it is a light and fresh enough scent that you will catch a whiff of your hair now and again, but it does not scream overpowering perfumy, floral, soapy scent, or sweet, it just smells clean and pleasant (I closed my eyes and pretend the snow was gone for a moment and smiled thinking about spring). I hope that can help some of you get an idea for the scent of the SHL CC smells like. Plese remember this is just my personal experience with this scent; I find it to be beautifully done! 👏
PERFORMANCE: I am putting this in the category of slightly less hydrating than SHP, more hydrating than WWC, and the consistency reminds me more of the lighter weight, frothy seasonal formulas like WWC or even similar to the consistency of BGT would be very close too. It leaves my hair shinny (has the 4 tea complex in it and 4 honey complex as well), soft, and manageable. It does not leave my hair feeling heavy at all; it anything it feels light and like it have movement that is flowing if that makes any sense to anyone. Hope that helps everyone! 😊

      • Nicole

You are most very welcome.💐 Sometimes I really get detailed and type quite a bit, sorry about that Isabella… 😕

      • Janessa

Thank you!! I personally prefer the seasonals over the regular. Love the Winter Vanilla and Spring Gardenia. I grabbed the Gardenia with Easy Does It 🙂 I will probably end up breaking down and trying a 16oz of the Lilac.

        • Nicole

Just an idea Janessa, but Chaz will be back to the at midnight on 03/21/2015 to present the TSV; I can’t make any promises but I would bet a fair amount of money that the TSV will sellout and there will be One Time Only offer(s) and one of them could be the 3 piece seasonal set with the 16oz CC, 2oz RTM, and 1oz TO for basically the same price as the 16oz seasonal CC alone, maybe a few dollars more and then you could have the other two products to try out and use how you like! Plus when he is there it is more likely there will be easy pay offers. 😁
Off topic sort of, but my TSV in the Mandarin Italian Fig arrived today and it is a wonderful scent (NOTHING AT ALL like the core CC Fig scent) and I am really going to have to think about how to describe that one! 😳 For some reason comforting was what came to mind when I sprayed the RTM on my hands. Can’t wait to try it out; I love how the rice based formulas perform on my hair! 💁

          • Janessa

That’s a great idea Nicole! I am already a WEN devotee, and will almost always take advantage of a good offer. I wasn’t paying too much attention to his appearance schedule because I had too much back stock. I just realized that I pulled out my last Winter Vanilla and only have one small Summer Coconut left aside from 2 32oz Apple Spices that I can’s seem to even give away LOL

          • Sandra

I am thinking of purchasing the TSV on 03/21/15 but not sure how Mandarin Italian Fig would smell like as I don’t care for the Fig he has already. I am a two year user of Pomogranete and 613 formulas. I hope this new TSV scent will be worth trying!

  • Nicole

    Hi Janessa!
I have to tell you this because you will get a kick out of it. 😄 We have a 5 year old (he will be 6 at the beginning of June 2015) Ragdoll kitty. His name is Max and he is a WEN kitty. Now he got to come home with us at a little over 10 weeks old and other than his first 2 baths he we have been using WEN (obviously NOTHING with Tea Tree anything in it 😳) since then. He has a medium/long coat that is cream colored with blue points. So after the KIDS formulas launched and bringing them into our Vetrinarian to double check ingredients and get the A-OK for use on him. So that is his normal cleanser(s) unless he really shows interest in a seasonal I give in, get the A-OK and use that formula on him. Guess what his absolute favorite WEN seasonal is… FAS! I love FAS too, but Max basically confiscated my 4oz FAS TO and we both had our own bottles of 6oz FAS RTM. He goes crazy for the smell of maple syrup (won’t eat it, but he acts like its catnip, which he has NO reaction to at all 😄) as well as caramel he just loves the smell. Our little (well 30lbs is not little, but not huge for his bread) Max and I LOVE FAS and just had to share that story with you. 😻
I will also keep you up to date on any inside deals I hear about for TSV day if I hear from any little birdies ahead of time! 🐣

  • Nicole

    Hello Sandra!
I am forewarning you that this is one formula I am struggling to describe note wise, but I am going to do the best I can for you. 😊 The scent opens with the scent of BGT, but it is so brief that it took me days to even notice it when I used the RTM I did smell it for no more than 10 seconds. Again I am doing my best, bare with me. This formula is not a heavy scent; it is there, but not strong like say FAS or FGP. I would consider this to be in the light to medium strength of scent range for WEN products. First, it smells NOTHING like the WEN Fig core formula, NOTHING at all. I get a soft slightly sweet fig note that honestly to me smells like it is mixed with possibly chamomile tea and milk. Now I can’t say for certain but I think what may give this formula a slightly sweet background could be the mandarin orange peel oil. To me it is a comforting scent for some reason.
Now the formula is going to feel much different than Pomegranate or Sixthirteen because it is rice based and contains bamboo water in it. It is light and distributes throughout the hair very easily. Also the rice based formulas rinse out soooo much easier and faster than the soy or wheat based formulas.
I recommend trying it. Keep in mind this is a treatment based formula, so you will want to make sure you consider that the formula has more protein and amino acids in it (not as much as Sixthirteen) and over use of the treatment formulas depending on the overall health of your hair could leave your hair dry or possibly breakage. You said you are successful with Sixthirteen so you should be just fine! 😀

shoot nicole just saw these think I’m posting too late sorry was trying to get to my backlog of comments thanks for posting!

  • Nicole

Oh that is no problem Isabella. I am sure people could look it up if they wanted to. 😊

  • Nicole

You help us all out so much Isabella, I doubt people will mind at all! 😉
I just wanted to give you all a little information on the general responce by the public to SHL CC. It was launched March 1, 2015 and has already sold out twice. Chaz is going to find out if Cooper (business manager/personal assistant) can allow anymore to be taken from the salon stock in the 32 oz size (not sure, but more of the 16oz sizes came in I think, don’t hold me to that) and basically if not it is sold out for the season. (FYI this would be QVC’s fault since they tell Chaz how much they want him to bring which helps him decide how much to produce. 😒) Chaz USUALLY can find a way to get more, I know one time there was a situation where he could not with a SHP duo, so seriously if you love the smell of lilac and I mean the real thing standing next to a bush and smelling them order now or get on a wait list for a bottle. The original supply, before it sold out the first time, was suppose to last until June 1, 2015 and I know he will not have a situation where it is not available for the clients at his salon where he sells it for A LOT more $$$!
Hope that helps someone out there and have a great day! 😊

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks nicole! 🙂 <3 you're too sweet! thanks girl! very helpful!!!!!!!!

  • Nicole

I want to start by saying that, I love reading your blog and commenting when I have information that may help others with a product I use. My time here became VERY limited since the Friday prior to Mother’s Day 2015. My mom has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Non Small Cell Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer. I had to leave to come help care for her and take her to her oncology and radiology specialist and things have been very hard on me but I don’t let my mom see that.
Some of you know I lost my dad to Small Cell Lung Cancer on Father’s Day 2004 after he heard me read him his Father’s Day card to him.
I did order my bottle of the new Summer Coconut Lime Verbena CC and will do a review on it after it arrives when I have spare time.
I just wanted you to know, Isabella, my absence from your website had nothing to do with me not loving it but there is never time to read or post (OK now at 1:25 AM I have a minute) because I an trying to care for my mom and keep her comfortable (as is as her amazing husband’s who has really been the rock here but did have to return to work 4 days a week so I will be here 2 to 3 week at a time helping out with everything because the cancer has spread to a large amount of her skeletal system her pain is horrible. So although I may not post as much I do stop in and see what is new when she is resting.
Hope everyone is well and I will take all the thoughts and prayers for my mom I can get!

    • Isabella Muse

Nicole, sorry for the delayed reply. I’m very sorry to hear about your mother 🙁 sigh! I’m very sorry! I’m very close to my mother and I imagine this is a very upsetting time for you xoxoxo! Please, don’t apoligize, you take the time you need for your family that’s the most important thing of all. You and your family especially your mother is in my heart. I’ll be praying for you! xoxoxoxoxoxox! hugs!

      • Nicole

Thank you for the kind words as well as your thoughts and prayers. I am very close to my mom as well and this was my worst nightmare coming to life.
Her husband has now taken indefinate leave from his job. I still will be there because of my background and education in medicine (and because both of them are more comfortable with me there and asked me to stay). This has been my first break in a couple weeks and I will be back taking care of her and taking her to appointments on Wednesday.
My mom’s prognosis is less than a 1% chance of survival 2 years and will likely pass, with radiation and chemotherapy treatment to prolong her life, within the year.
I was blessed to have had a father for 26 years who loved me more than anything and now at 37 I have been blessed with a mom who loves me and been there for me during the good and hard times after losing my dad and beyond. I will make the very best of the time I have left with her and do my very best to keep her as comfortable and happy as possible.
Right now I need to be strong for her and when the time comes I will deal with my emotions and feelings after my time with her has passed. I am still able to make her laugh and I get to take care of her now, as she has done for me for my entire life. Now I can give back to her and let her know how much she has shaped me into the person I am today. She and my dad have made me the person I am today and I will be eternally grateful for the time I will have been given with both of them. ❤️

        • Isabella Muse

Hi Nicole! Thinking of you! I hope you’re doing well this week. I’m so so sorry you’re going through this 🙁 I’ll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers! Cherish this time with her and try to stay strong! xoxoxo! hugs! 🙁

          • Nicole

Thank you Isabella. I am hanging in there and have gotten Mom through her 5 treatments of radiation and this coming Thursday we will find out the best type of treatment (likely a tailored chemotherapy cocktail) is to prolong her life while keeping her quality of life as good as possible. She is tired but being a real trooper and ALMOST always being a good patient for me!
I have a review for the WEN SCLV CC I will post soon.
I am trying to make every moment we spend together as happy as possible for her and trying to take care of her while now comforting my other family members.
Thank you for thinking of me. Everyone has been so kind and supportive in my life and I am so grateful.

          • Isabella Muse

Hi Nicole! How are you doing? And your mom? Aw I’m happy that she’s keeping her spirits up! I was thinking about you last night and as I was replying and getting to my backlog of comments today I was happy to see your comment here 🙂 You’re always in my prayers!

  • Nicole

    Dearest Isabella,
My time has been consumed by the harder times we suffer in life. That I you for all your thoughts and prayers. My Mom has declined quite significantly so we last talked. My Mom is a fighter though and just not ready to go yet. Sometimes laying here awake in bed made me think I should say hello.
I miss the people here and all the conversation had and opinions shared. I just don’t feel myself recently as I see things with my Mom coming towards the end of a well fought fight!
My mom shared my love of WEN with me. I still just can’t imagine her not here. But I am hanging in there and making here time here as comfortable and happy as I possibly can.
Thank you for caring and praying for me; I appreciate the kindness you have shown me here.
Take care everyone & hopefully start checking in more now that I am not sleeping! Holding you are all well!

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Nicole! Just seeing this sorry 🙂 was replying to your wen comment! I’m very very sorry to hear your mom’s health has declined. sigh. I’m glad you’re here, active on the site today maybe it’ll give you a minute to take your mind off your mom! hugs! I’m so sorry! I wish I had some sort of magic words to make it feel all better! But I offer my prayers, my virtual hugs, and plenty of good thoughts sent your way! xoxoxo!

  • Nicole

Hospice and my mom’s husband are with my mom right now, as tomorrows I have to attend a visitation and Thursday a funeral for the unexpected passing of my better halfs aunt. A wonderful woman I have had the privilege of knowing for 10 years. She just was a beautiful woman inside and out.
My mom’s husband has been texting me periodically throughout the day since I have been gone. She is not sure why I am gone so although she cannot reply well I have spoke to her to let her know I will be back Thursday evening or early Friday morning. She has surpassed all the odds she was given after finding nice spots of cancer metastasized to her brain causing two strokes thus far. She is a fighter and no one wanted to give up, but the cancer can’t be treated at this point and in the condition she is in.
I see the parts of her fading away that make her who she is and I remember this part with my dad. It is unfortunate and difficult and time is not on my side. I love her so very much and would take her place in a heartbeat, but I can’t so now I have to find a way to carry on and repair myself one more time. The quote that has alway rang true to me is the following:

“It has been said, ‘time heals all wounds.’ I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.”
    Rose Kennedy
US wife of Joseph Patrick Kennedy Sr. (1890 – 1995)

Time is what will be needed as it was with my dad who I miss daily after 11 years. I was blessed with amazing and loving parents who made every moment count and never took them for granted. I have no regrets and hope to carry on and be half of the people they lived their lives as.
Thank you for the prayers and hugs, I am happy I had time to come visit and see what was new on the website today. The holiday are coming upon us so fast I better start making an effort to get some gift ideas! XOXO!

Gosh Nicole, sorry. This is all very depressing 🙁 I’m sorry you’re going through all this. That’s a powerful quote and a true one. When you lose someone you love I don’t think it’s a wound that ever really heals xoxoxox. I’m sorry Nicole. I wish I had more than words for you. I wish I had some comfort to give or even a hug. I can’t say I understand what you are going through but I can imagine and that brings tears to my eyes. I keep you, your mother, and your family in my prayers!

Oh my dear Isabella, I am so sorry I made you feel sad. Sometimes as I write to you I don’t fully think through how my reply may make you feel because you have such an empathetic soul. I should have probably kept much of that to myself. Please forgive me for making you sad and know that it was not my intention.
I just plopped everything out on the table, so to speak, and in my half working brain did not think of how it may put a grey cloud over how you were feeling. I should know better…
It will all be OK Isabella, I know what a blessed person I am to have had my parents with me for the time they had here. I could not have asked for a mom or dad that loved me unconditionally and were so much more than just my parents. Some people are not as fortunate as I have been to have even a moment of what I shared with my dad and/or mom and that is sad for me to think about.
Thank you for praying for my family and me as well; I am grateful for all the lovely thoughts and prayers sent our way. I am sending you a virtual hug and letting you know in these situations there is not much to say. What you have said and done for me are wonderful and appreciated.
A bit happier quote and way of looking at situations like this is by Mitch Albom.
“Death ends a life, not a relationship.”
My dad is always with me in my heart and I talk to him a lot. I know mom will always be with me in my heart as well and as gabby as I am, I will be talking to her a lot as well. ☺️

            Dear Isabella,
My Mom and my journey with her through her fight with cancer has ended. I would like to let you know that on November 4, 2015 at 12:00 A.M. my amazing Mom passed away. She was surrounded by myself, her incredible and devoted husband, and my brother and was comforted by our words and touch and encouraged to go home and we all would see her again one day…
Please know that although I may not post right away; I do read and appreciate all the kindness you have shown me. I will comeback and read and when I am feeling up to it and ready, respond and post again. ☺️
            Thank you again for everything!
