L’Oreal Freida’s Red Colour Riche Lipstick Review & Swatches
L’Oreal Freida’s Red Colour Riche Lipstick is a shade inspired by Freida Pinto that launched with the new Collection Exclusive Pure Reds Lipstick Collection recently at drugstores.
Each of the Pure Reds Lipsticks are inspired by present and past L’Oreal ambassadors and are available in a wide shade of different matte shade reds which make it easy to select a flattering shade that’s most suitable for your skin time.
Freida’s shade is a brighter pink based red that’s complimentary to her darker skin tone, hair and eye color.
Let’s take a look!
Each of the L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipsticks in this collection come housed in special packaging that features a rubberized tube and gold accents as well as the autograph of the ambassador. I like the packaging a lot. It feels and looks very high end however, as you’ve likely read in my past reviews I dislike how it collections grime and dirt so easily as the packaging is very much like NARS.
Although I’m not one for limiting shades I use based upon my skin tone or hair and eye color I do believe that red lipstick is sometimes to exception to my rule. I find some reds look better on me than others and I lean towards wearing warmer brick reds. However, I do like experimenting with a variety of reds to see what works!
It’s funny as I thought they might have gone with an orange based red to suit Freida’s darker skin tone but they ended up going with more of a pink based red. Or in this case it’s kinda fuchsia! I thought at first application I wouldn’t like it but on my lips it reflects raspberry-ish and I really like how it looks even though I’m considerably cooler in tone than Frieda is.

So far I’ve found the formulas on these lipsticks very creamy and easy to apply. Unfortunately, Freida’s Red is a bit on the draggy side initially! After using the shade a few times it’s become considerably better though. It kinda has one of those harder outer shells which wears down to reveal a more creamier texture thankfully. Freida’s shade is also kinda dry but it still has a very smooth, even matte finish that never looks dry. It doesn’t crack, flake, nor does it dry out lips through the five hour wear period. The color doesn’t migrate or feather either and well after it wears away it leaves a staining effect behind.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t have that floral play-doh fragrance and flavor that L’Oreal lipsticks are known for that I’m not particularly a fan of.
I think L’Oreal Freida’s Red Colour Riche Lipstick could be a slight underdog as it is a shade I’d normally skip over but once applied it’s a very lovely shade that gives my complexion a brighter appearance. It’s a fun red and very far from traditional!
