Etude House Dreaming Swan Veiling Pack Review & Swatches

Etude House Dreaming Swan Veiling Pack9

Etude House Dreaming Swan Veiling Pack ($14) is a new face powder that launched with the Etude House Dreaming Swan x Kerrie Hess Collection for Spring 2015. Kerrie Hess is actually an illustrator for Chanel and she collaborated with Etude House to create the very cute art work on each of the compacts and makeup products in this collection!

The Veiling Pack is a mattifying, brightening finishing powder which can be used to set and touch up makeup! Or if you like it makes an excellent lightweight foundation for natural, sheer coverage.

Let’s take a look!

Etude House Dreaming Swan Veiling Pack

This is a darling compact to say the least and part of its appeal does lay in the packaging. It’s a pale peach compact that features and Stila-like girl gracing the cover. It is double lidded so you open it to reveal the buff and a generously sized mirror. The puff lays on a second lid which opens to reveal the powder which also has a cute toe shoe design. Unfortunately the design on the palette disappears rather quickly within two or so uses!

They call the effect of the powder a “peppy bright skin” finish. Something got lost in translation there I’m sure but what they mean is the powder has little light reflecting pigments that reflect the light and give duller skin a brighter appearance. The single universal shade unfortunately won’t work for some skin tones but it does run sheer so you might wish to try it and see how you do with it. On my own medium fair skin tone it worked well as long as I didn’t over do application as if I was heavy handed I did come out of it looking a bit pasty. The powder is a light peachy shade which, I could be imagining this, seems to have a very light, subtle peach scent.

This is a matte finish and it does tend to cling to my drier areas so it is likely best suited for warmer days when my skin is a bit more oily. It has a “line smoothing” formula according to include house so it fills pores and finer lines to create a very smooth appearance. I like how it brightens up my skin and gives it a flawless finish. However, as I said, I have to be careful to do fine dusting to avoid a pasty finish versus a brighter one!

If you collect cute facial powders this is a nice pick up! Or if you’re oily this is a very cute compact to carry around to mattify and touch up with. It also makes for a nice lightweight foundation on days you’re doing a more natural makeup look!

Lucky enough the Etude House Dreaming Swan Veiling Pack is available now at etudehouse.com (as many of the pieces in this collection sold out fast on their site)!
