Jill Stuart Forever Juicy Oil Rouge Review & Swatches

Jill Stuart Forever Juicy Oil Rouge

Jill Stuart Forever Juicy Oil Rouge is a new lipgloss released in Japan for Summer 2015 which will be added to the permanent Jill Stuart Makeup Collection. Needless to say as you’ve seen from past promotional images I’ve posted the Jill Stuart Forever Juicy Oil Rouge is gorgeous (Well, all Jill Stuart makeup is gorgeous right?).

Part of the appeal of this gloss is most definitely the pretty packaging which kinda resembles a juicy strawberry on a vine!

Let’s take a look!

Jill Stuart Forever Juicy Oil is what the brand calls a liquid rouge which has a beauty oil texture that provides fruity, juicy color. The liquid formula promises no stickiness and has a beauty oil base of argan oil, peach kernel oil, apricot oil, grape seed oil and avocado oil with other highly water retaining oils to give lips a super moist feel.

Ummm yeah so it is very over marketed. I imagine Jill Stuart are screaming “NAY!” at me for saying that. I love Jill Stuart so much and have so many pieces from the collection that I’ve collected but I’m all about keeping it real so this is slightly over marketed in some aspects.

For one thing “liquid rouge” would be inappropriate because the shade I choose had some nice color but nothing as pigmented as a liquid rouge or lipstick would provide. Also the promise of the formula not being sticky is misleading as there is a bit of tackiness here. And finally with this amount of oils in one formula one would think this was a super powered hydrating formula but…well, it provides very nice moisture but I did expect a little more!

On that note let me rave for a bit…

As you can see the packaging is so very gorgeous! The handle or wand is a made from a lightweight silver (although it does look heavier it isn’t, it’s quite light and made from plastic) with cyte floral swirls and a pink rhinestone dotted in the center. The handle is shaped like a vine of sorts with the barrel of the gloss shaped like a strawberry so it gives off the “just picked strawberry” vibe. It’s very elegant and gorgeous but slightly impractical but more on that in a bit! One thing to note it sadly doesn’t stand up by itself. So if you’re displaying it you’ll have to lay it on its side. This also makes it difficult to store several of these as they are a bit bulky. But sometimes you have to just go with it when the packaging is this gorgeous yes?

One quirk or thing that bothers me about this packaging is once you remove the actual wand with the sponge applicator you’ll find it is very, very short. I kept knocking my lips with the silver portion of the handle and getting gloss on it as I applied since the actual wand is so short and the handle flares out towards the bottom. This proved a little frustrating and quite irritating.

The formula is quite thick but not “liquid” in the least. It is thicker than your normal run of the mill gloss and almost has a vaseline-like quality which wraps itself around lips. It’s not lightweight that’s for sure but still quite pleasant feeling on lips providing very nice moisture and a hint of color. I purchased Bashful Plum which is a beige-y pink that’s sheer, nude, and natural. It does have a bit of tackiness which allows it to wear for a nice four hours. Unfortunately, Jill Stuart does like the flavor and fragrance its product with a variety of different perfumes. This one is flavored like the Crystal Floral Bouquet fragrance! It’s a bit of perfume-y strawberry and floral. It’s nice to my mouth but if you’re sensitive you might not love it!

I don’t regret my Jill Stuart Forever Juicy Oil Rouge purchase but do believe the packaging has a slight quirk to it which makes application a little messy! It is slightly over marketed in some aspects but regardless still a lovely gloss formula none the less!

Unfortunately, it isn’t sold in stores but you can purchase it for close to retail at gooddealer.com.

Tried it?

Do share your thoughts on the packaging and formula!

I purchased this item.

Oh wow, the packaging looks awesome! Even if it makes the application a bit fussy.

Best believe I got this in two shades on my recent trip to Japan! Agreed that the packaging is the best part. But honestly, any lippie that makes me happy when I whip it out of my bag to apply is worth it. 🙂 I REALLY wanted to pick up one of the new citrus/bergamot fragrance thingies but they’re not out yet. The sales girl said that they will likely sell out really quickly and people are already putting in requests for orders! Hope you snag some of the body care line to review, Musey!

amen Hapa! 😀 Honestly, I’m not so into the fragrances as much as I once was! THANK god lol! 😀

I got one of these (along with a lipstick and a blush) at the Jill Stuart counter in the department store next to Hachiko/Shibuya station (yeah I had to name drop lol). I got a bit of a brighter color and I have to say that I loooove it! I haven’t had too much trouble with application, but I need to wear it more…usually I only remember to wear lip products that live in my purse, but because of the lovely packaging that I don’t want ruined they live on my desk instead lol. I also need to wear the lipstick I got more, it’s the perfect “nude” look for me~

haha 😀 lucky girl! How was the trip? Glad you adore it!!!!!!!!

The trip was amazing! Quite the whirlwind and my feet paid the price but it was worth it lol, the only bad part of it was leaving!! I really love Disneyland/Sea (duh) and the Shibuya/Harajuku/Omotesando area~

You know what this reminds me of, a bit? Dior Addict Fluid Sticks, I’m reminded of it because I am actually wearing the Dior now. These are a bit less opaque and the colors in general are more muted, but they feel similar to me~.

oh sounds so exciting so glad you loved it. Did you have to come home with another suitcase?! LOL! I know my first time I ended up with an entirely other suitcases! :-O!!!!!!!! Oh yes kinda yes!

I don’t own any Jill Stuart, but I’m seriously thinking of grabbing this one ’cause the packaging is so gorgeous and er….funny-looking. I don’t know about strawberries dangling from a vine, but this reminds me of something else. And that promo pic with the model dangling this gloss in front of her lips was just hysterical….I was laughing so hard I almost fell out of my chair! Can you imagine whipping this out and slowly applying it while out on a date? I think the date might have a heart attack watching LOL

Ok Muse. I couldn’t resist any longer. I just ordered Petit Raspberry. My very first Jill Stuart purchase, and my very first makeup purchase from an overseas seller !

Hi Muse ^^ just wondering, how is this compared to the YSL tint in oil? Are they similar? Which one do you like more? Thank you!
