Lancome Grandiose

I haven’t purchased Lancome Mascara in years so I decided to grab Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara recently to make up for being so remiss with Lancome. For me, sorry, Lancome mascaras are typically a miss. I don’t have an issue paying big bucks for mascara as for me it is a splurge item in all honesty as I’m never very happy with the results of drugstore mascaras. However, it’s when I pay $25 and the formula is rubbish that I rant.

I feel like Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara is one of those mascara that has both pros and cons but the cons seem to outweigh the pros.

Let’s take a look!

Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara

The draw of Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara is the very interesting wand. Grandiose sports a swan neck with a shorter brush that allows you to wriggle the brush under your lashes to add length, life, and volume. The smaller brush and smaller bristles act to grasp lashes at the root to add volume.

The swan neck takes getting used to for a few reasons. First you need to know which direction to hold it in as if you hold it upside down or on the side, etc…it just doesn’t apply mascara well. Secondly, you have to slowly replace it in the tube otherwise you risk bending or possible snapping it. So just remember when you’re done with application slowly replace the wand in the tube.

Lancome Grandiose Mascara

I find I get fairly good volume from this formula but length isn’t nesscarily something it excels at. This is a very dramatic and extremely black (I love blacker than black formulas and this is very pigmented). It’s a very wet formula so it does feel like it needs to be combed out after application as I tend to get a bit of clumpiness going on if I’m not careful while stroking it through my lashes. I have to take it slowly and building is a little difficult as it can get more and more gooey which each application. Once it sets I didn’t have an issue with it flaking or smearing however, it is pretty difficult to remove! I use a bi-phase eye makeup remover plus cleansing oil and still had a good deal of mascara left on my lashes after cleansing.

I wanted to post two images one of which is a close up and the other a full face because I feel like the full face gives you a better idea of how much fuller my lashes look as the close up you can’t see it as much.

The effect is nice enough. It gives my lashes a good deal of volume so they look very full but the length isn’t something that excites me.

Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara is a little too expensive for what it does! I’ll stick to my Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara!

Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara is available at Sephora, Sephora.com, Ulta, Ulta.com, and at your favorite Lancome counters.

I bought it when it first came out. I like the swan neck brush but I don’t think it does anything different on my lashes. The biggest selling point was that it has a tighter vacuum seal (you do feel that) so the mascara is supposed to last 6 months instead of 3. However, my bottle just recently cracked while putting the wand in so I only git Four month out of it. Frankly, I was bored with it and ready to try something new.

I actually think your lashes look very nice with this mascara -thick, soft, and dramatic

Hated it. Gave me panda eyes like no other mascara before. And isn’t volumizing enough for my taste.

I use No mascara mascara from the no makeup line (Perricone MD) and now I don’t care for any other. This one condition my lashes, makes me look gorgeous and perform better than all others I’ve tried.:) So I’m going to skip this one. But I do like how it looks on you, very pretty.

Ugh I tried this when it first came out.. Gave a shot for a few days.. went right back. Hated it. It just didn’t wow me and it smudged on me! Which rarely happens. We just did not get along!! Shame too because I really dug the swan neck wand and the directions on how to apply it. Thought for sure it’d really help with volume and length… Nope. I’ll stick to my drugstore HG’s…

Tried this one. Costs 55 Brunei Dollars in our local department store. It came with instructions on how to use the wand, but I’d rather apply the mascara in my own way and comb me lashes with me Real Techniques Lash Brow Groomer =D My lashes fanned out better. And oh, I curl my lashes before using this one.

I prefer the Lancome Hypnose Doll’s Eyes mascara. Smells a bit rosy. I dont know, but I do smell a hint of rose 🙂
